Not really an issue, if it ships with 14.1 and you have already updated just skip all the setup on the 12 and update the software then erase. starts like new.I wonder if new phones ship with iOS 14.2 and is it best to update software on my current phone or leave it on 14.1?
Depends if you plan on starting fresh or restoring from a backup?I wonder if new phones ship with iOS 14.2 and is it best to update software on my current phone or leave it on 14.1?
Thanks for the reassurance.Probably won't get a date confirmed until Tuesday or Wednesday. it was the same with the iPad Pro upgrade I did earlier this year for launch day
Part of the setup process will update the phone to the latest version then it will restore. Not really an issue, if it ships with 14.1 and you have already updated just skip all the setup on the 12 and update the software then erase. starts like new.
Thanks. I’m restoring from backup so I’ll leave it as it is!Depends if you plan on starting fresh or restoring from a backup?
If starting fresh you can update to 14.2.
If restoring from backup then I'd leave on 14.1 as you can restore from a 14.1 backup in 14.2 but not the other way around
I’ve had this issue in the past, and I’m pretty sure if your iCloud backup is a more recent version of iOS than what’s on the phone, it will allow you to update before restoring the backup as part of the setup processThanks. I’m restoring from backup so I’ll leave it as it is!
John Lewis did similar when they reduced the Silicone ones. Cant remember the colour which was missing. Its a shame that Amazon haven't restocked on the leather wallets. I really want one of those. Strangley, they only offer three colours. No Baltic blue.
Ah ok. It might have changed since I last did a restore from backup. I normally set up fresh and then sync iCloud for calendars, contacts etcI’ve had this issue in the past, and I’m pretty sure if your iCloud backup is a more recent version of iOS than what’s on the phone, it will allow you to update before restoring the backup as part of the setup process
Amazon doing returns till 31st Jan. If it doesnt hold that well after few weeks it will be going backFor anybody that's bought the California Poppy leather cases, just be aware that the lighter coloured Apple leather cases tend not to age gracefully with use.
I owned the Sunflower yellow leather case from the iPhone 7 era and after only a few weeks, it just looked grubby. The corners went first, then the back where my fingers tended to rest. It also picked up dye from my jeans, so the edges eventually turned green (yellow plus blue...).
The Product Red leather cases also eventually turn black.

No wonder things are getting more expensive, how can a business survive, if buyers expect to return goods after wear and tear, ? That item one exchanges these days is more or likely to be refurbished without the buyer knowing !Amazon doing returns till 31st Jan. I think that Amazon are quite tough if you read their returns policy. They state that goods must be unused and as new.No wonder things are getting more expensive, how can a business survive, if buyers expect to return goods after wear and tear, ? Im going use Baltic Blue first and if peeps start complaining on the forum i will most probably return it without using it. Plus i rotate my cases on weekly basis so i think it will not wear that fast if i keep it which is my intention with all three leather and two silicone cases lol.I think that Amazon are quite tough if you read their returns policy. How will two of the wealthiest companies in the world survive if people return things that don’t live up to standard 😱No wonder things are getting more expensive, how can a business survive, if buyers expect to return goods after wear and tear, ? I dont know about others but rest assured mine will go back unused plus i bought all three colors with the intention of keeping them as i always rotate cases on weekly basisNo wonder things are getting more expensive, how can a business survive, if buyers expect to return goods after wear and tear, ? Just found this thread. There's some great pics and reviews on thereSaddle Brown can age gracefully with some care and attention - see the Patina Proud thread in the iPhone Accessories section of the forum.
See what you are saying, but some people just return them for the sake of it. Some people on this forum bought the 12 just to play with for a fortnight until the Max came out and then returned the 12. Ridiculous! How will two of the wealthiest companies in the world survive if people return things that don’t live up to standard 😱
Returning a product that is genuinely not fit for intended use or "up to standard" is and should always be perfectly acceptable. However ordering several colours to see which is preferred or buying a product planning for its return up front I don't agree with. I am not accusing you of this, BTW. I often see people here who buy multiple iPhones to check out the colours. And some people buy a model of phone knowing it's going back but can't wait for the model or colour they want to be in stock or available for purchase/delivery. At a minimum this can cause product shortages for people who genuinely want to buy the item with the intention of keeping it. But my main issue is the point that these are very profitable companies. Quite right. And in order to maintain that profit they need to factor in the cost to them of product returns. So ordering things with an intention to return them just means the cost of the product is increased for everyone. How will two of the wealthiest companies in the world survive if people return things that don’t live up to standard 😱
