Which Model are you getting?

Just locked in again with Samsung recycle for a further 7 days after no price movement. Suspect this will change in the coming days so going to need a burner to get me to launch

Really depends on your model & storage capacity. sellmymobile.com and compareandrecycle.co.uk (while not exhaustive) will give good overviews with links to trustpilot scores.

Haha yes I’d usually go down the burner route but this year I’m pretty relaxed as the missus is getting the 12 pro.

Not going to get caught up in the “shall I try the max size again” for the 4th year straight.. straight up, 13 pro 128gb in black please.

Had the same thoughts, but the sheer weight of it is a dealbreaker. Maybe the rumoured move to titanium will make a difference next year.

Opting for the same model

Going for a base storage 13 Mini, just hoping the rumours of price increases aren't true. £699 for the 12 Mini at launch already felt a tad high, paying over £700 is going to be a harder sell considering its a smaller upgrade than 11>12.

The 64GB 12 Mini is down to £575 which feels about right price-wise with some retailers, but it took 10 months to get to that. Apple still selling at £699.

Depending on how much they add to the 13 line (£50/100 on each model?) it might be worth getting something from the 12 line at discount before they all disappear like the 11 Pro's did.

I’ve only seen one rumour about a price increase and even that was from a source who has a pretty mixed history in leaks.

If there is a price hike, I think we’ll see it on the higher storage models. I saw somewhere else on this forum that the Pro models could be: 128gb, 512gb, and 1tb. With 128gb staying at the same price but the 512gb and 1tb seeing price increases compared to their equivalents this year (256gb and 512gb, respectively). That way Apple can sell it as ‘we’re charging you more but we’re also giving you double the storage’

I already have a 12 Mini. I'm hoping to stick with this size of phone for as long as possible so hoping to get the 13 Mini but pricing could be an issue.

Selling my 12 Mini I'm expecting to get between £400-£450 at the most, so if Apple increase the price of the 13 Mini to say £750 I'll be paying £300-£350 on top (plus a new case, screen protector...).

That's close to £400 extra potentially for effectively a small battery increase and a smaller notch. Hmm.

I don't personally think it's worth it when you put it like that.

Think (and hope) you may be right. I'd read somewhere that's what Apple plan to do - price increases for the Pro/Pro Max.

If Apple increase the price of the non-Pro models then there will be an even bigger gap between their older and lower priced models and the new range.

Yeah it's a tough sell. Even if pricing remains the same, that's still around £350 extra including a screen protector/case. Wish Apple made it more tempting to justify the real cost of upgrading for those of us that buy outright. At least with the pro model you'll get 120hz but with the 13/13 Mini it sounds like very little will be changing. Hopefully the battery life increase will be substantial - an extra 2 hours or something.

Most likely I'll still end up paying.

...that's why going from iPhone 12 to 13 is even harder to justify for me - other than camera quality, slightly better battery life and a slightly better screen there's really not much else to get excited about this year (and that's not a worthy upgrade which justifies the cost IMHO).

My last upgrades were:

iPhone 4 > iPhone 5
iPhone 5 > iPhone 6
iPhone 6 > iPhone 7
iPhone 7 > iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 8 Plus > iPhone XS (best iPhone so far IMHO and even beats my 12 now I think).
iPhone XS > iPhone 12 (only upgraded for the new design)

If the new phones take my current monthly payments on the iUP to less than £35 a month (which is what I currently pay Barclays) then I may be tempted!

Lets just see what gets announced in a fortnight's time.....!!!!!!

:p

Sterling is about 6% higher against the US dollar since the iPhone 12 was released, so I’m hoping this will help offset any price increase Apple have planned. Apple did make an adjustment when the 24” iMac was released (UK price of £1,249 is $1,299 in the US) so there’s a chance they’ll do the same for the new iPhone.

I’m thinking of selling my Pro Max to Music Magpie before prices drop. It’s currently locked in at £675.

Got my jet black 7 Plus out this morning. Might use that for the next month. I’ve no idea what it‘d be like to use now but it’s still, by far, my favourite iPhone.

Anyone used (or even heard of) "Smart Cellular" before? Offering me £760 for my 256GB 12 Pro Max. Tempted....

If you go to the China Apple page you'll see that the prices for the 13 Mini and 13 are exactly the same as the 12 currently.

In fact even for the 13 Pro and Pro Max the 128gb is exactly the same. It's the 512gb (currently 256gb) and 1tb (currently 512gb) price that differs:

The Pro middle tier has gone from:
9,299 (12 - 256gb) to 10499 yuan (13 - 512gb)
and the top tier from:
11,099 (12 - 512gb) to 13,299 yuan (13 - 1tb)

The Pro Max middle tier has gone from:
10,099 (12 - 256gb) to 11,299 yuan (13 - 512gb)
and the top tier from:
11,899 (12 - 512gb) to 14,099 yuan (13 - 1tb)

If these prices are true then they've actually cut the price for the 512gb model and they're milking the 1tb model.

There are many ways to look at this, of course.
