I’ve had a bit of a mare with my pre-order. My first app order for delivery (paid by Apple Pay) seemed to stall and didn’t appear to go through, so I placed another order but delivery had slipped to 4th October so I placed an order for collection. That seemed to go through but nothing showed up in your orders for quite a while. I did get two email confirmations so it appears both orders did go through.

Looking through ‘my orders‘ on the app now shows both orders but only processing. I called up HSBC to see if they had put a hold on either transaction and they said they’d been flagged up as fraud si confirmed they were legitimate. They didn’t really seem to know what they were talking about but said those orders wouldnt have gone through and I’d need to ‘just place the order again’ 🙄

The orders are still showing as processing but nothing showing on my wallet transaction so looks like HSBC or Apple pay f*caked this up for me; not feeling as smug as I was yesterday.

I have about another 10 days to return my current phone, all of which is a (very!) long way of saying I need to order a pro max 256gb for delivery or collection as close as possible to release day to avoid losing loads on my trade in.

im guessing I’m out of luck but any suggestions gratefully received!

I’m also hsbc and my order is still processing too but didn’t pay Apple Pay just directly with card but I wouldn’t worry too much about it? Things take time to process especially during the weekend. I’m deffo not going to be calling up I trust it’s all fine and if not I’ll get an email from Apple.

I already ordered some Spigen EZ Fit, but tempted to buy the full screen one from ESR. Do they impact the FaceID or anything? (Never had an iPhone before) Also is the black outline noticeable?

I've always had the Spigen EZ Fit and never had a problem.

Have a look at store pickup if that’s an option. Seems to be quite a few available!

I agree. I've used them on my last two iPhones and I have ordered the Amorite version for my 13 Pro Max. They are the best screen protectors I have used and good value for money.

My HSBC went through fine yesterday evening @ 20:32, its unusual to process payment as early as they have so as you say nothing to worry about, yet!

HSBC (well First Direct) stuffed up my 1.01pm order as well so I did another one straightaway on a different card (Nationwide) and that went through fine.

It‘s leaving it till the last minute but last year Giff Gaff had unlocked phones that they only put out on sale on the Thursday before release day.

still haven't been able to place an order through EE, I get to checkout and hit "site undergoing maintenance" every single time no matter what device or browser I use. Have been in store and called them, but neither can apply the family discount code which I have to do online, and obviously when I can get 30% off I'm not going to pay full price. So I just have to keep trying until the site is fixed, apparently, but it's been 36 hours already! So now I'm really not hopeful of getting one at launch.

That’s really bad luck although the date may move forward again. I seem to remember a couple years ago I had an order with a date kept changing and going back and forth. I can’t remember what item it was though. Mine is still set for the 24th and when I looked at the email it actually said ordered at 1 pm . I thought it said 1:01 pm but it says 1 pm so I think I must’ve been one of the very 1st to get my order through

Not just me then.

I got an order through straight away but changed my mind on colour a couple of minutes later.

Tried to place a new order twice, using a First Direct card and it kept declining but didn’t say why.

Kept trying, using Apple Pay with a Barclaycard and that also kept failing… Or so I thought until I started receiving multiple email confirmations.

Ended up with three orders but managed to cancel two in the short window of time between the “Cancel Order” option popping up and disappearing again. Think the payment (or preauth) was eventually taken at 8pm last night.

Anyone who has had the screen protectors with the black outline, does it cover any of the screen/is it noticeable? The stronger ESR one and spigen have the outline. Is the tougher ESR worth it? Recommendations on which one to pick?

Nah the bezel is not noticeable and doesn't cover any of the useable screen.

Sorry to hear that. EE really do seem to have a made a massive mess of this launch. Seen on Twitter today that you’re not alone with many others unable to place orders online. Hope they fix it soon for you
 
Giving my 2 cents on screen protectors.

I had Apple Store fitted Belkin protectors on iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone X. I didn’t like the sharp cut where they don’t cover the front facing camera area, and I also didn’t like how obvious they were (thanks to the 2.5F curved glass).

I went naked with the XS Max and 11 Pro Max.

I got the standard ESR for my 12 Pro Max and I’m using it right now. Thanks to the flat design, the screen protector feels almost invisible save for the speaker cutout. I really like this screen protector and I’ve taken delivery of the 13 Pro Max model which covers the entire screen save for a tiny little notch at the top for the redesigned speaker. Looks promising.
