Have you been on these forums much? For some reason it absolutely drains battery

Even yesterday Safari on my MacBook popped up and told me that this website was using a lot of power
Not that much. Just a few minutes here and there. But I have no idea why it’s draining this badly. I’ve lost 6% in the time I sent the last message and that’s from just listening to music.

It takes nothing of the sort. eSIM is pretty much instant.

On Friday I received a temporary phone from Amazon so I could send mine to Music Magpie

The key thing is YOU MUST have your old phone available and active as EE send an SMS to your old SIM (old phone if it is an eSIM or any phone with the physical SIM in) to activate the new eSIM.

  • Old phone - log in to EE app > Settings > Device and SIM > Replacement SIM > eSIM
  • Choose that you are moving to a new device
  • The eSIM QR code will be shown on screen
  • On new device scan the QR code and add the eSIM (the phone number will show 00000000000)
  • On the old phone click on activate SIM card, it will be there after you have scanned the QR code
  • Wait for SMS to arrive and type in the number (autofill should have the number for you to select)
  • Old device will lose signal and new device will gain signal
  • Turn the line off and then on again and the phone number should update to your number
Mine took no more than 30 seconds to transfer across. It took longer for me to dig out the ejector tool, take the case off, remove the SIM and place in new device for the physical line I have on the device as well.

What happens if don’t have old iPhone? I’m doing an IUP so will be swapping, ideally wanted to just pickup new and take home.

What happens in this case please?

Well, I kinda accidentally got an e-sim. I thought it would require more clicks, but after clicking replacement e-sim it just said it was ready for download...

I guess I could wait and download that on the new phone directly from the EE app?
I did the same but I didn’t finalise anything by downloading the eSIM so it hasn’t changed anything. I still have the option to activate on this device or another.

Got my leather case swapped at the Apple Store today (because of the little blemish).
Got questioned a bit about how I'd got discount on it... they seemed to think I wouldn't be able to do a straight swap if I'd used an EPP discount. Thankfully it went through no problem in the end. My new case is perfect now so roll on Friday!
I rarely use cases anyway, the phone will be naked for most of it's life 😂

That interesting, so you can request one in advance and have it ready to download on Friday?

I’d be interested to know the exact answer to this too. My 6S burner is 64GB whilst my 12PM was 256GB, I was using about 100GB memory & 2tb iCloud.

Assume anything that is not backed upto the phone memory on our older iPhone will be saved in our iCloud.

When I restore to my 13 Pro Max on Friday I’m going to use my previous 12PM backup done this weekend, just to be safe. To quote Ripley in Aliens: "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure”. I’m applying the same ethos to restoring back to the 13!

Also, I’ve spent too long this year sorting out all my data & apps into proper folders to do a new fresh iPhone start so definitely need to restore!
I went from iPhone 12 to iPhone 6.

I just sent up my iPhone 6 as a new phone as it was easier, logged into iCloud and installed only the bare minimum apps.

As the back up from a 12 won't be compatible fully with older iPhones.

I can manage for 4days, sent my 12 off this morning special delivery cost me £7.65 which most places will only insure your phone for £50 - £100.
Not worth taking the risk for me.

Is anyone making the move to an eSIM this year? Even though EE have improved the process, I don't like that it can take up to 24 hours and surprised they charge 50p for it. I need my phone for work and just to swap a sim possibly taking a full day still seems a bit crazy.
what’s the advantage of an E-sim other than needing a second line? .. if I upgrade with an e-sim I have to phone up to switch the e-sim? Or is it attached to the number so a new phone wouldn’t make any difference?
(Obviously, I’m clueless!)

Yes, you've done the right move setting your iPhone 6 up from new, would have been the easier option installing only a few apps from iCloud. My 6S is all maxed out.

For 4 days I can just about manage too, although I am on recharge number 3 today already as I use mine for work/client calls! I'll be restoring from my 12 Pro Max when I get my 13 Pro Max.

Battery issues/small screen aside I'd forgotten how ultra thin the 6S is, marginally bigger either side than the 3.5mm headphone jack! I'd appreciate a new iPhone that is this svelte again, hopefully future batteries will be able to pack the same charge without the size!

I'm tracking my MM package via Royal Mail, should be a 48 hour service so lets see.

I got a dispatch text and email from Apple, but it was just for my Blue Jay silicone case. The colour on videos looks lighter than the website, so I'm not sure if it's going to be quite to my taste. That said, I've had black cases for so long that I really wanted a change.

...they'll swap your data from your current phone to the new phone in store.

Swap the eSIM over you mean? Before I wipe? Just means I’ll have to wait, power up, jump through the hoops on the new, wipe the old.

I prefer to just take the new one home and setup, but this means I can’t now?

Thanks

I think so, I have a option in the app to download the eSIM now that I have requested one.
And requesting one hasn’t cut you off? Also wondering about this or if I should just request one in the app once phone arrives Friday

Hello - another (impatient) post from me 😬 if my iPhone doesn't show any movement this week (delivery due 4th - 11th October) is there any chance that my nearest Apple store (40-minute drive) will have stock on 24th for walk-in customers and hence worth popping down or is it better to sit tight?

Thanks :)
