Im holding on until end of next week. Im currently paying £56 per month to EE for 12 PM (which includes one smart benefit and 101Gb data). If there are no major changes that rock my boat i might (not sure) not go ahead with upgrade this year and it will be the first time i make decision from me head and not me heart lol.

The year the iPhone XS came out, I held onto it for the full 2 years and never upgraded to the iPhone 11, so jumping from the XS to the iPhone 12 was a decent update.

I‘m not seeing many benefits going from the 12 to the 13, judging by the leaks, and isn’t really worth all the hassle!

But, nothing is definite until after we see the Keynote !

I'm probably not going to upgrade. I'm quite happy with the 12PM but like you until I see the keynote nothing is certain

That de-escalated quickly

Must have seen those iPhone 14 renders!

Better camera, faster processor, pro motion

It is definitely an ‘S’ year.

If there’s no difference in price, then paying the same monthly fee for the 12 or 13… why wouldn’t you just change to the 13? :D

If the 14 renders come true then everyone will be going big next year again anyway.

Crazy to think we've been doing this yearly! I just went back and looked at what my first iPhone pre-order thread was and it was the 7. I remember the crazy hunt for Jet Black 7 Plus models. Probably the most tricky iPhone to get in my experience.

Indeed! I remember I got my order in at 8.02 or so and the date had already slipped for it.

I just checked my email, my iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black order went through at 8:06 (for the phone and S2 watch). The date for the phone was estimated 4-10 of Oct, but I think it arrived before that.

Actually exactly the same for me. Those were the days when the store would come back for some and not others

Hopefully this year we can all get in at 8am or 1pm when the store goes live.
should be 1pm again this year. TBH I've found no issues pre-ordering now and in the last few years, the apple store app works fine and as long as you're in for the start I think most people have got the phones they wanted.

last year with people being pre-approved, it was even more simple.

Last year I got my order in at 1:03pm, which was fantastic. You're correct the process has improved a lot. Do we know why they changed it to 1pm?

Just looking back at my posts I joined MR in 2007 and I think the first preorder thread was in 2012? I migrated over from AV forums. I have done some crazy things in my time for iPhones. The two that stand out the most are

1. Buying the first iPhone from a random store in Times Square in NY - At the time ATT had exclusivity on the original iPhone and there was no unlocked or payg options. You had to get them jailbroken if you wanted to use any sim and every ios update locked the phone back to its original sim. It would be months before The 02 got the iPhone in the UK

2. Travelled all the way to Belgium via Eurostar on release day to buy the iPhone 3GS - Belgium and Italy both have laws that mandate Phones to be unlocked at the time of sale. Went to about 8 different shops. I wanted black 32GB and ended up with White 16GB

It wouldn't be till the iPhone 4 release before I would officially be able to buy an unlocked iPhone in the UK. I remember queuing outside Regent street for 5 hours (and that was with a preorder reservation) loved it

Anyone else got any whacky iPhone stories?
