Hi all, currently still paying off iPhone 12 Pro as I used Barclays finance. Is it possible for me still to upgrade using this method? Not quite sure what my options are. Thanks for any replies.
It's always curious each year as to who gets accepted versus those that don't.You’ll probably have to pay off the Barclays finance first before they’ll lend to you again. They wouldn’t let me buy another phone even though I’d never missed a single payment. Had to pay off in full before they’d lend again.
I’ve gone sim to esim and now back to physical sim.
Both were super quick and trouble free.
The only hassle is Vodafone using text messages for authentication which means you need your old and new device side by side to move it.
To be honest, I have an e-sim and a physical sim in my 12, but unless you want to do this I would say just stick with the physical sim. It is a lot more convenient IMO.After reading this I think I will keep my physical Sim card for a bit longer.
I used to know someone who developed the credit rating system for Experian and at its simplest level it looks at your ability to make payments based on the amount being borrowed, previous and current borrowing, previous repayment history and whether you’ve had any bad debts in the past, such as CCJs. This gives an overall score. It's always curious each year as to who gets accepted versus those that don't.
In 2019 to 2020, I had a MacBook Air on Barclays 12 month finance and an iPhone 11 Pro Max on Barclays iPhone Payments over 20 months. Both were accepted without problem. My credit history is excellent, but some points away from what could be considered perfect.
Then there are those with perfect, blemish free credit histories that have been declined for no identifiable reason.
It's a hard pull on your credit history for each check, so definitely not worth risking if you're reliant on a good record for things like mortgage applications in the near future etc.
I’ve really enjoyed the Silver 12 Pro Max this year. Really classy colour. I initially went with Gold but it was a bit too bling for my taste. The Silver works in all situations from business to social etc. I kept mine without a case on at home & a silicone case when out.Pretty certain I’ll be sticking to Silver again this year unless some decent colours actually come out! Don’t want no toy phone colours! Hahah. On that note I need to think about sending in my phone at some point don’t wanna delay too much with MM 🥳 excitement begins
I sold my 12 Mini earlier in the week so I'll have been using a £9.99 Alcatel burner for nearly 3 weeks by the time I receive my 13 Mini!I’ve really enjoyed the Silver 12 Pro Max this year. This year I’m going back to black but I’d definitely buy silver again.
I do wish Apple would offer a better variety of decent/quality colours on the Pro models.
For MM, my deadline is Monday 27th so I’ll probably post mine in on morning of Tuesday 21st to allow time for MM to receive & process it. That means 4 days of waiting impatiently & using the 6S burner phone!
Great explanation, thanks for that!I used to know someone who developed the credit rating system for Experian and at its simplest level it looks at your ability to make payments based on the amount being borrowed, previous and current borrowing, previous repayment history and whether you’ve had any bad debts in the past, such as CCJs. The complex part is how this score is applied by lenders. Here each chooses what score they think will be acceptable which will vary by things like age, whether you are a home owner and what proportion of income is going to loan repayments. They also look at where you live and who you work for so they don’t too much lending in any one area to reduce risk of, say, having a large number of loans to Nissan workers in Sunderland and Nissan decoding to close the plant down, meaning the Lender could end up with a lot of loans defaulting. There are other things they take into account, such as whether there is any as assets the loan is secured against and the current level of borrowing with that lender, but ultimately they are looking to see if the loan request fits into their borrowing profile at the time you apply. This means that you may have a very good credit score but you may get turned down purely because you don’t fit the lender’s profile at the time you apply, which may have nothing to do with you e.g. too much lending in the area you live.
Only phone is required, but if you have the box it’ll add some protection. Generic packaging is fine though. Keep your cable and chargerFor those who sent in to music magpie- it’s phone only? No box or cable needed?
what about watches? Are they concerned with the strap? As I have a generic sport loop band
Ah thanks for your reply. Is it as simple as ringing them up and paying it all off? You’ll probably have to pay off the Barclays finance first before they’ll lend to you again. They wouldn’t let me buy another phone even though I’d never missed a single payment. Had to pay off in full before they’d lend again.
Yeah I will do, I still think it is a bit strange that with the technology we have today they don't make it more of an instant process. We will probably see improvements around the eSIM activations from mobile networks soon.To be honest, I have an e-sim and a physical sim in my 12, but unless you want to do this I would say just stick with the physical sim. It is a lot more convenient IMO.
Yes, I just rang them and paid off over the phone.Ah thanks for your reply. Is it as simple as ringing them up and paying it all off?
Preorders 17th, in your hands 24thDo we know what date the iphone will likely land with buyers?
I have my SIM in a Xiaomi phone, it's been less then 48 hours and I hate it.

I feel you, I’m going to be sending mine in too for good timing I don’t want to ruin any chance of price change etc so want that dealt with quick. I’m going to miss this phone though! It’s been very good to me, borrowing my mother’s iPhone X until the new so hopefully I can get it on launch day or it’ll be a while for my poor mum 😂 but yeah deffo up for the silver again.I’ve really enjoyed the Silver 12 Pro Max this year. Great price!Have just traded in with Carphone Warehouse .. £430 for iPhone 12 mini 128gb with 5-6 chips out of the casing (screen was perfect) but they were not bothered.
Their phone testing software isn't compatible with the beta yet though so needed to restore to iOS 14 first.
Bring on iPhone 13!![]()
