Arsenal charged me a fiver back in 2010. I wouldn't mind but I was working for the opposition team (women's match) at the time doing a live text commentary, which is why I didn't want to use my own data (for once).

I've been with EE since 1997 when they were Orange. The original phone was an Orange nk502 (8110i to the rest of the world) from a third party. I've been down as a business customer since 2008, though I don't think calling 345 is any different to calling 150 these days. My friend, who also has a first-gen SE, just rolls her eyes when we're in a pub somewhere and I have no coverage while she has good signal strength on O2 :p
Haha. You’ll probably remember Wildfire and “Wildfire, what noise does a cow make?” 😂
That really felt like the future back then. Sadly the innovation all stopped the moment FT bought them from Hutch

I actually think this IS their attempt to appeal to a younger audience. Those who want access to all the streaming services in one place. Oh and it has built in sky that, from what I can tell, you can activate at anytime. Paying for it monthly? That’s right up the millennial and gen-z street. No dish required and able to stream directly over the internet. I can see this being offered in university accommodations for students. Everything in one place.

It’s possible that this is a ‘test’ launch for Sky-over-the-internet as a service that will eventually replace Sky Q (or as an update to it). Also I don’t quite see Sky Go as a separate service to their their Glass/Q offering, it’s in addition to them. They don’t really seem too interested in competing with the streaming players and instead they’re embracing them - clever move because you’re right, that’s a battle they’d lose I think.

Now what remains to be seen is whether or not it takes off. I’ll admit I’m quite intrigued by the idea of it (I’m a millennial) but I don’t want to buy a SKY tv… Though it’ll be good to see what reviews say of the picture and sound quality.
You may be right, but it’s Sky’s uniquely odd attempt at capturing a younger market if so. Their demographics are no doubt getting older (and their satellites will have limited lifespan left), but Sky being Sky can’t resist trying to create lock-in with hardware and lots of value add fees. The £5 to fast forward ads is a sad reflection of where things are heading…
All in all it’s an especially interesting approach given Apple abandoned the idea of their own TV hardware and now mostly accept it’s about getting their service on as many devices and platforms as possible

Hmm - this Sleep function STILL isn't working as it did prior to Watch OS 8.0......🤔

Before, if you had scheduled the 'Do Not Disturb' feature (I have this scheduled between 10pm and 7:00am) and you went to bed and turned on the 'Sleep' option (whereby the watch tracks your sleep), in the morning when you would wake up and turn off the 'Sleep' function (lets say at 6:30am), the scheduled 'Do Not Disturb' would remain ON and auto turn OFF at 7am.

On Watch OS 8.0 and above, it no longer does this - when you wake in the morning (lets say you wake at 6:30am) and so you turn off 'Sleep', it now ALSO turns off the scheduled 'Do Not Disturb' (which should stay ON until 7am but it now turns OFF when turning OFF 'Sleep')...???

Hmm those of you waiting for new macs.. looks like the current 16” MBPs are now unavailable for pick up in any store and delivery is 6-8 weeks…

I had exactly the same thing on my S5 a couple of weeks ago and I was also getting high battery drain. I did a hard reset of the watch (press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo) and it hasn’t happened since then. Battery drain problem has gone too.

incidentally, your iPhone should be on iOS 15.0.1

I hope this helps but it may be that you need an S7. 😉

What does a hard reset do actually - does it erase any settings on the watch ?

Innovation seems to have stopped all round. My favourite phones were the Nokia 8110 "banana phone" and the Nokia N95 Smartphone. Both sliders. When you think about it, the iPhone hasn't changed since launch; still the candybar/slate design, still the same Phone app. And everyone else has copied it. Remember the Motorola StarTac and similar?

If at least 4G functionality could be fitted into watches - or even AirPods - with an eSim so that they didn't need to be tethered to a phone, the iPhone could forget about being a phone with a camera when it's been a camera with a phone for the last 10 years.

My fav was my Nokia my 8800 sirocco that felt proper premium for the time in the world when most phones were plastic.

Still looks pretty good today I think

Nokia had some great designs, remember the one which looked like a lipstick? My favourite looking phone is still my 7200 with the changeable cover plates.

Ah, the precursor to them launching the Vertu products. Had a friend who worked for them right up until the time they went under.

I ended up getting big into the Sony P series devices. They felt properly innovative for their time, and I much preferred UIQ to Nokia's S60 Symbian UI

Haha yes, now that was innovation!

It was all about the small phones for me back in the day. My first one was the baby Ericsson (T10 I think) and then moved to the small Nokias 8310? They had interchangeable covers too. Then years of Nokias, Samsungs, had Windows mobile os 6 phones. The palm pre was pretty sweet too.

First modern smart phone was the htc desire and then bought the first phone Google released directly with the nexus one. Luckily for me I left that on top of my car and drove off to never see it again! Couldn’t afford to fork out for a new one so got my first iPhone (4) on contract and never looked back!
