Random non apple What do people think OF SKY GLASS announcement yesterday
Think it’s an utterly bizarre concept forcing the purchase of their own (rather hideous) screen. The early adopters who you’d think would be interested in the service itself certainly wouldn’t be interested in taking the screen - even if it’s just a spare TV and you use an extra ‘puck’ with your main screen.

IMO Sky are in a bit of a mess really with conflicts between their Now offering, Glass, Sky Go and the regular Sky Q.
At some point it’s inevitable they’re going to need to burn the house down and start again with a unified approach across all their regions appealing to a younger audience.

I just don’t understand why they didn’t choose to leverage the existing Go offering and allow that as a standalone subscription. I’d suspect it might be because they know they couldn’t get remotely close to competing on price or technology with the big boys in streaming.

That’s the same for all networks - just try and load a web page when you’re sitting in a football ground watching a Premiership match at half-time, when all the other thousands of supporters do the same thing at half-time. ITS IMPOSSIBLE!
EE is far better for me. Can actually check the scores of other games when sat on United. When I was on Three this was impossible.

Unless you are at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and use their free wifi :)

I'm currently on Watch OS 8.0 and my iPhone is on iOS 15.0.

I have a strange thing going on with a particular watchface on my Watch - its the Activity Analogue watchface specifically:

Lets say the current time is 11:00am and I don't look at the watchface for a number of minutes and when I next go to look at the watchface its 11:20am, the hands of the clock actually visibly jump from 11:00am to 11:20am..??!

Its like the hands get stuck at the last time at which I looked at the screen but then suddenly jump to the correct time??! This is happening every single time I look at the screen and it is ONLY happening on this particular watchface (it does NOT happen on any other analogue watchface)??

Can anyone else replicate this on their watch - is this a bug or is my Watch bugging out?

Mine has done this for years on the always on display

My wife put in an order for a Sierra Blue Pro and has a delivery date between the 20th and 27th of October. Any chance she might have an earlier delivery date based on your passed experiences ? Thanks

Arsenal charged me a fiver back in 2010. I wouldn't mind but I was working for the opposition team (women's match) at the time doing a live text commentary, which is why I didn't want to use my own data (for once).

I've been with EE since 1997 when they were Orange. The original phone was an Orange nk502 (8110i to the rest of the world) from a third party. I've been down as a business customer since 2008, though I don't think calling 345 is any different to calling 150 these days. My friend, who also has a first-gen SE, just rolls her eyes when we're in a pub somewhere and I have no coverage while she has good signal strength on O2 :p

I had exactly the same thing on my S5 a couple of weeks ago and I was also getting high battery drain. I did a hard reset of the watch (press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo) and it hasn’t happened since then. Battery drain problem has gone too.

incidentally, your iPhone should be on iOS 15.0.1

I hope this helps but it may be that you need an S7. 😉

Thanks for that @CD3660 - appreciated, will give that a go. 🙏🏼

Incidentally, that Anker desktop Qii charger that I got the other day is great, it seems to charge pretty fast and also handily charges my wife's iPhone XS! Highly recommended product!

Also, on Watch OS 8.0, I'm pretty miffed that they got rid of the 'Bed' icon when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen on the watch. This manually puts the watch into a 'Sleep' state whereby it can track your sleep when you go to bed.

I know you can automate this (you can set a time that you want your watch to do this) but I liked to manually select this 'sleep' state as not everyone goes to bed the same time every night - and in Watch OS 8.0, they got rid of this icon so you can no longer manually turn this on. 😕

Not much unfortunately. Probably hit the start of that window if anything

Swipe up, tap the moon icon and now gives 2 options, sleep and DND.

I wondered where it went as well at first! Hope that helps

Anker make quality products right across their range whether it be plugs, charging cables, batteries or wireless charging stands or pads. You can’t go wrong with them.

I actually think this IS their attempt to appeal to a younger audience. Those who want access to all the streaming services in one place. Oh and it has built in sky that, from what I can tell, you can activate at anytime. Paying for it monthly? That’s right up the millennial and gen-z street. No dish required and able to stream directly over the internet. I can see this being offered in university accommodations for students. Everything in one place.

It’s possible that this is a ‘test’ launch for Sky-over-the-internet as a service that will eventually replace Sky Q (or as an update to it). Also I don’t quite see Sky Go as a separate service to their their Glass/Q offering, it’s in addition to them. They don’t really seem too interested in competing with the streaming players and instead they’re embracing them - clever move because you’re right, that’s a battle they’d lose I think.

Now what remains to be seen is whether or not it takes off. I’ll admit I’m quite intrigued by the idea of it (I’m a millennial) but I don’t want to buy a SKY tv… Though it’ll be good to see what reviews say of the picture and sound quality.
