reading some battery rumours and interesting to see that all in the line up, bar the 14 pro max, are looking to get a capacity increase.. the PM capacity going down!

a little contradictory to other posts!

"According to a Baidu post, the regular iPhone 14 could feature a 3,279 mAh battery, compared to the iPhone 13, 3,227 mAh. The 14 Pro could use a 3,200 mAh battery, compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, 3,095 mAh. On the other hand, the 14 Pro Max would have a slightly smaller battery, with 4,323 mAh compared to the 13 Pro Max with 4,352 mAh."

I'm glad the 14PM battery is staying roughly the same. My 13PM is already pushing the limits of tolerable weight/size, I don't think I can handle a heavier phone.

not connected my phone to a laptop since the iPhone 5 days! iCloud all the way
if you've got passwords in keychain/iCloud then restoring from an iCloud backup is straightforward.. (banking apps might need a bit of work!).

there use to be a thing with health data not being backed up in cloud and needing iTunes encrypted backup, but that was resolved years go

also to finally add... you might start using up more iCloud and have to up a tier (no way apple would have planned this right?)

Just dropped off my iPhone 13 PM at the PO. Paid for special delivery (£8.95 if anyone is keen) should reach MM tomorrow before 1300. The wait begins.......
That's what they initially said at the PO but they are able to use the original tracking and add the special delivery alongside the original postage. It just means that it gets delivered the next day as opposed to the MM 48 hrs paid postage they use.

I got confirmation from MM that the package had been scanned within 20 mins from leaving the PO

Does everyone prefer to use cloud storage compared to the old backup to a computer? I have always used the old “iTunes” method but thinking of switching to iCloud back ups…
I use the usb3 to camera adapter. You plug the main lead into the host iphone and a lightening to usb into the new/replacement device. You can use the last lightening port to connect to a wall charger or power bank and then charge both devices.

I’ve personally found this to be the cleanest and fastest method of transferring data btw two phones

I did this until last year for the iPhone 12 Pro to 13 PM upgrade as I was told that the wireless transfer rates between those two devices are faster than the Lightning connector. Not sure how accurate that is, but worked very well last year and will try it again this time.

reading Gurman's newsletter in more detail, I'm shying away from the Pro watch now..

"I’m told that the Apple Watch Pro will be fairly large and probably won’t appeal to all consumers, as it’s going to be bigger than most wrists. Given the larger size, older Apple Watch bands may not look flush with the device, but the new case is designed so existing bands can still work—contrary to some rumors I’ve seen."

sounds like it'll be huge on the wrist!

Ooh that sounds a bit crazy! Maybe unless it’s a wrap around type of display… interesting. I’ve also heard floating around that the Max phones are being replaced as called Plus instead this year.

Uber and Lyft phone
Disney hotel so ordered direct and paid from phone so no tips required
Disney springs again all paid and tipped from phone
Bars don’t tip
Never took any dollars whatsoever
I take $50 for toll roads - and a load of 1/4's for the unmanned tolls. Its a nightmare arriving at one of those without coins. They don't take notes, and you have to go and get a cheque from the post office to avoid the fine.

I think that rumour is for the non Pro 6.7 inch iPhone 14.

I think it depends on whether you're happy with it looking more like a sports watch, or more like a regular watch.

I once upon a time owned a Garmin Fenix sports watch which was around 45mm in diameter. I have tiny wrists - I use the smallest Apple Watch sportband and I'm on the 3rd from last notch. The Garmin Fenix, whilst big, did not look too odd because its primary function was as a sports watch, and most sports watches are large and chunky anyway.

I naturally gravitated towards the 44mm Apple Watch when I moved across and it just looked wrong on my wrist, especially when I paired the watch with some of the more formal straps.

Interesting I do need another watch. May hold out till next year maybe it'll get thinner. This is Apple on the other hand, it may come with an 'innovative desing'

That’s when it’s time turn around and say sorry I can’t purchase. With the pandemic most places went digital.
Some smaller businesses are counting pennies. I do try and pay cash to smaller companies to help with the card fees and waiting for the money to hit their bank account.

44mm was perfect for me on my old S5, not tried a 45mm version on yet. I would appreciate the larger screen and battery though.

I'd assume the pro watch would be the one which is trickier to get a hold of at launch.. If the details look interesting, I might just pip for that, try it for 2 weeks and make an informed decision on whether to keep it or not.

Have to say I've been enjoying using the 13 Mini as my full time phone over the last week or so since I sold my 13PM to MM. It'll be a shame if Apple do kill it off.

You could keep it for another year if they dont have another Mini and you never know. It might come back next year. I'm rooting for a flip iPhone in the next couple years, doubt it will happen. Motorola V3 slim iPhone!
