What model are you getting?

Nice, great if so! Hopefully they have plenty of stock.

Do you recall what time it opens? 9am orders?
I’m not sure what time pre-orders at John Lewis go live. I seem to remember that it’s the evening before availability day but could well be wrong.

The stores themselves tend to open at 9:00am (depending on location).

Nothing amazing, just a 67 plate 330D beemer. We actually have a brand new Tiguan but hate it! So underpowered and feels cheaply built compared to our last Tiguan. So we decided to sell it whilst prices are still high and we have positive equity to reduce our outgoings in light of the cost of living increases and the fact we both hate the car 😂
I’m currently sat in VW talking about a new Tiguan as a replacement for our 19 plate 👀

So John Lewis (online) has typically always been around 8am on launch day in the past.

Opening online orders the day before is a new thing so the timing could be anyone’s guess, but I’d imagine they’d stick to 8am.

The trick with John Lewis and high demand items is to use the app and add what you want to your wish list first, which usually then becomes available to add to your basket before the product listing page becomes live. Their app is also usually quicker than the website.

It’s weird because I very rarely use the forums except for this thread! I actually look forward to seeing the usual names here. Dino and Azzin letting the team down this time!

But I like this time of year and all the trials and tribulations it brings!!

I‘m here (as usual 🙄) 👋🏻

Anyone know what happens if you can't go on the pickup date/time - Would they keep it for X amount of days. For example I would be able to 100% get there on the Saturday or much later in the day on Friday.

Will try and ask Apple when things calm down a bit.
So I’m able to get there on Friday but after the time allocated due to work. I’ve managed to speak to Apple - I should be fine arriving at the store after the allocated pick up time and the phone should still be there on the Friday.

Would have chosen delivery if it allowed me to 😂

I agree. You will see the corners blacken and look dirty. These days I buy a black Apple leather case so that you don't see the degradation. Looking at my black case from last year it looks almost mint. Leather gives the phone reasonable protection, looks good and doesn't add much to the size of the phone. It slips into a pocket easily too.
Yes I made the mistake of buying a cream leather case the first year they came out. Can’t recall what the shade was called - maybe stone?

Also for screen protectors I recommend mediadevil- it’s a small UK based company but makes really good quality products I’ve used them myself before:

I’ve ordered the ultra tough glass-free one which covers the whole screen and also the esr armorite…gonna see which one I prefer!
I used to use MediaDevil back in the day, didn’t know they were still going. 👀

Didn't think I'd be back here a year later, but the deep purple, new camera system and the dynamic island (terrible name Apple), were too much to resist.

Oddly when I pre-ordered the option to pick up from store wasn't available for me like last year and have a delivery showing for 3rd-10th Oct and no joy getting hold of Apple. Bit of a pain but hey hum.

Folks who went with MM already… how often does tracking update? Did you receive updates from MM too as it passed through the network?

It was after any RM updates.

One when it was sent
One when it started moving
One when it was ‘delivered’ but saying I’d hear back when it was received at their warehouse and checked. This was the ‘you’ve been paid’ mail I think.

Get what you say about the patina/looking dirty and battered look.

Only once owned a leather and that was the saddle brown

I sent mine through Asda, but found the tracking terrible, was showing that it was on its way, but when I asked via the chat, it had already arrived and was undergoing testing.

Ordered a Tesla Model Y last month....waiting for it by the end of the year :p:p

Get in!! 😁 It’ll be the most amazing purchase you’ve ever made. I’ve had the Tesla Model 3 about 5 months now and it puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. Beautiful car and so amazing to drive. Build quality is actually top notch too.

This is her:

Thanks for the tip. I’ve just created a JohnLewis account and have added the phone I want to my Wish List. Hopefully I’ll be either able to get a phone on John Lewis or Amazon will come through the pre-order. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one on launch day

Thanks. Yeah… dropped it off directly at the delivery office last night using the label rather than QR code. No movement from RM since or notification from MM so could be in the dark for a few days. This gives me some comfort though

Ugh.. that’s better than 3 in London, that service is just non existent

Yes, mobile networks seem to be a lot like buying a house, location matters. I don’t know why EE are as bad as they are here, their closest mast to me is less than half a mile, closer than the nearest 3 one. Yet 3 is by far the better reception.
I’m not going into it completely blind, other than testing 3 out with a payg sim, I was with 3 several years ago, before I joined EE - via Vodafone, so I know their service is fine in the places I go to most. I actually left 3 because when we moved to our new house, their signal here was shocking, now it’s the best. What a difference 4 years makes.

Any tips for buying, best to do the 0% interest free via apple or I can get 4.5% off currys vouchers so for a £1500 phone thats £67.50 off, or any other deals out there?

So, I have a few questions if anyone knows the answers at all:

1. Do Apple stores install screen protectors?

2. How much is it? Is it worth it?

3. How do I book/arrange it? Can it be done online or do you just pop into store?

Many thanks in advance if anyone can answer these.
Already kindly answered by another, but I'd add that I always get the 2- or 3-pack protectors from various online shops. The ESR ones come with a plastic guide so the protector goes on in the right place without any bubbles. Never had a problem with them, and if you really mess it up you have spares to try again :)
