Im guessing these iPhones will be shipped from China/South Korea like the MBP's were in October last year.

It was fun tracking the plane with you guys to Germany and then to east midlands airport.

I'll probably be tracking my phone on my own as it will be past all the hype next week lol
No iPhones will already be in the country so no plane tracking fun.

I am on EE SIM only and have a physical SIM - is it worth changing over to eSIM? Probably wait though until after launch day as their (very good normally may I add) customer service will be rammed

I moved to eSim (EE) during lockdown so I could get a sim for work. I never had a work mobile before as wasn’t really needed but didn’t want my personal number going wider than a select few. My work originally gave me a huawei (?) and then a Samsung but I just could fathom how to use an android phone so changed to eSim to get dual sim function. Handy in that now can make calls from 2 different networks.
I looked up the process last night for switching the eSim over and looks quite straight forward - essentially done as part of the normally back up set up. I never set up from new as like to keep messages and the like 🤪

First time trying out ESR products hope they are good, and first time trying a clear case. £59 does not justify the leather case anymore for me. Doesn't feel nice and soft, just a really hard material case. Have the Midnight Leather for 13 Pro but don't think it's worth getting it again. But Umber colour is looking good!

Roll on next week for the iPhones!! (eBay or JL)

Cannot decide Silver or Space Black! 😕
These leather cases look okay for the less than half the price. Might get one when I decide what colour of phone I am keeping.

What sim only deals are people going for/recommending?
Through uswitch you can get 20gb for £8/month on O2 which I moved to a few months ago (they have a few different options for monthly cost/data on there too). And with O2 the data gets doubled if your household has Virgin Media TV/internet.

For those who have not been playing with the beta (like me). This is a good thread of some of the customisations to play with when iOS 16 lands on Monday.

Personally, I’m not touching it until I open the 14 on Friday!

I would have preferred to wait for iOS 16 until I get the 14, but as the delivery is 3rd-10th Oct for me, I'll probably end up upgrading my current phone tomorrow.

I’ve ordered a midnight blue one to have a look at.

They look similar to the ESR leather cases- probably the same. If it’s as slim at the apple cases I may keep this over my Ink one

I guess it depends on the coverage in your area and what your usage is like. For me, EE and Vodafone offer the best 5G coverage - but pricing on both seems to be creeping up a lot.

If you get decent Three coverage where you are, they are offering their 24-month unlimited everything "advanced" plan for £399 over the 24 months (£16.63ish averaged out) via employee perks: https://store.three.co.uk/view/cont...0_1662893237_747da652ca6517c6804f99a2f619e3b5

EE support eSIM Quick Transfer so it is possible that you will be presented with the option to convert your physical SIM to an eSIM during set up (as long as you have inserted the physical SIM to the phone) https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209096

Alternatively, you can very easily swap from SIM to eSIM via the My EE app. It will download the profile to your phone, but you will have to first have inserted the physical SIM to the phone because they send a confirmation text with code for verification before proceeding to the swap. Once complete, you can remove the physical SIM and throw away (I also destroyed mine).

There is the option to receive a QR from an EE Store or via post after requesting in telephone CS. But I don't see these options as convenient anymore.
Just done it from the App - took 5 mins max. Thanks!

Apple Stores in the UK will certainly be closed on Monday, 19th September for the Queen’s funeral. It’s been declared a Bank Holiday.
Not always true, they might choose to trade bank holiday hours rather than close. Working in retail, we don’t always get bank holidays off…

Just swapped in the app - really easy.

And for £25 it will most certainly be PU so the colour will probably hold up

Got a silver 14 pro ordered for Friday. Only thing I’m dreading is sorting out my O2 esim as whenever I have to phone them to get a new one they never know what I’m talking about and I have to try 2 or 3 times. May have to take a trip to the store instead.
They messed mine up. I called on Friday to get a new eSIM pack ready to use next week, and made them confirm my current eSIM would continue working until I request a SIM swap. Didn't happen, on Saturday morning my line was dead and no sign of the new one. Turns out they had swapped to the new eSIM while it's still in the post.

They promised to swap it back, didn't work either and I've just got back from an O2 shop where they helped me transfer my number to a physical SIM and it works again.

I don't understand why O2 issues eSIMs as physical packs with a printed QR code inside, it seems so backward!

Why swap now, wont you have to it again on Friday?
No, because you can transfer an eSIM to another iPhone as it is supported by EE.

Alternatively, you can run the same process.

Just don't delete the eSIM profile from the old phone, because then you won't have anything to transfer or an active line to receive a text if redoing the process via the My EE app. After transferring or redoing the My EE process you can delete the profile from the old phone (if still present).

These actually look pretty decent, might have to give one a go. Will be interested to see pics.
Always been a fan of the Apple leather cases but £59 is a bit steep

Does anyone mind me asking, how has the eSim experience been for you? As I haven’t tried eSim yet.
It's been fine. I've been using it for a few years now. You can't really tell that it is an eSIM other than looking at the settings. It is treated just like a physical SIM. Roaming also works in the same way. The only problem you may encounter is that you cannot transfer to Android (which I think is why Apple didn't release eSIM only phones in Europe. I am expecting a huge fine if they don't enable that first) or obviously use a non-smartphone that requires a physical SIM card.

That’s good, has transferring, to a new iPhone worked fine as well?

Not sure how much or big the Belkin one is but Anker have one that’s pretty good value: Deal: Anker Power Bank, 622 Magnetic Battery (MagGo), 5000mAh Foldable Magnetic Wireless Portable Charger and USB-C for iPhone 13/12 Series https://amzn.eu/2bVA86F
I love this as my battery back up .. it looks nice (yes, yes it’s all about the colour!) and it works better than the Apple battery pack. Also it’s USB C which I’m preferring now 🙂

I haven't done a transfer myself because I had an Android break before my current iPhone 12 Pro Max. But from acquentainces that have done, they are happy with. Remember that it has to be supported by your provider too. EE support it and according to Apple https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209096 only EE do in the UK.

With O2 and Vodafone you will need to find alternative ways of activation. Although Vodafone do online issue of eSIM from their website. Three mention it on their website, but do not issue new eSIMs indefinitely.
