Currently in the O2 store trying to get an ESim QR code. So far two members of staff have looked at me like I've just asked them to explain Einstein's theory of relativity in less than 6 words.
Make sure they give you a 5G eSIM not a 4G one. They really are different(!) and you won't be able to get 5G if they give you the wrong one.

Just wondering if anyone else has chosen to trade in their old iPhone at the time of pre ordering?

Is it just the phone Apple wants sending back or do they want everything including the cable, charger and box?

Im trading in my 11pro max so I have all of them.
Traded my 11 Pro Max via Apple last year and will be doing then same with the 13 Pro Max this year. Only had to send the handset, no cables, charger of the box needed to be sent back.

From the Trade In FAQs:

  • Do I have to include accessories like chargers, cables, etc?

No, you do not need to include accessories. If you choose to include any, we will recycle them for you.

So, I have a 128GB iPhone 14 Pro Space grey preordered for the 16th. I have a quick question; do our phones have slots for SIM cards? Ive seen some people in this thread talking about eSims, but I thought it was only the Americans getting the sim free versions?

It was easy with EE, but it screwed my account until the end of the billing period.

do they know what an eSIM is?

Yes I think it is just in the US that don't have the physical SIM card slots.

What Apple cases have people gone with for the Deep Purple 14 Pro? I'm a bit undecided which case to get.

I’m getting the silver one and hoping it‘s quite see-through. I just don’t like the MagSafe shape on the back of the clear ones. may send it back if it’s not what I want though .. also ordered the silicon elderberry but if it’s just too dark I’ll send that one back too!

Has anyone ordered from John Lewis previously? I’ve got an order from Apple (Barclays finance) but the delivery date is 18th - 25th October because I couldn’t complete my preorder due to the red phone number rubbish!

If I can get one for launch or just after from John Lewis I’m fine to pay upfront. The delayed delivery kinda screws the yearly upgrade with Barclays finance anyway cuz I’ll probs only make 10 payments before the 15 is out…..

So just wondering if anyone knows from previous launches what time they normally go on sale. Seems like the 15th from what the app says but have no idea what time and I reckon the 128Gb Space Black that I want will go quick.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any tips

I think they've just been educated by the only person in there who knew what I was talking about.

They were about to do it as a SIM swap until I asked if that would disconnect my current phone, they said yes but that's fine just scan the QR code with the new phone straight away.

I explained that the iPhone 14pm isn't out until Friday and they seemed surprised.

Only US is fully esim, international versions including the UK will have a Sim Card slot. If you go to the apple website and click on iphone features and scroll down this is included regarding sim card. US site doesnt have a section for sim card for the 14 series

Anyone who ordered from apple direct and secured a launch day slot, is their apple store app just saying “arrives”

Mine just says processing.

Whose doing Pick-Up? I was one of those people who was having issues when doing the shipping address part and kept saying try again later, but was lucky to go back and do pick up for launch day. Mines early pickup at the Apple Store in Reading

That cracked me up! I'm curious though so may I ask why you're doing this though? Do you just fancy moving to eSim over traditional sim this year? I thought about doing the same so I could free up the sim slot for another line (perhaps a work line for example).

I am assuming (without any definitive knowledge or experience) the they are available to order online from the 15th but wouldn't be delivered or available for collection until the following day.

Mine just says processing.
Am sure someone a few pages back said that is what the update is for store collection. Launch day deliveries are at preparing for shipping.

Hmm, when people say the silver iPhone isn't really silver, the colour of the phone normally is denoted from the colour of the banding of the phone so..

Space black is because the banding is black
Silver is because the banding is silver
Deep purple because the banding is purple

That's how I always look at it anyway, the back is just a complimentary colour of the banding, there's no way space black is named after back and not the actual banding itself and same for the deep purple, that is definitely not a deep purple.

I've finally managed to bag myself a 14 Pro for Friday 16th!

I had an absolue nightmare on the 9th trying to checkout my pre pre order that was financed by the pre authorised barclays finance. I was getting constant errors via the app and in the end I had to give up as I just didn't have time anymore to keep trying due to work.
Later on in the day I managed to get on again but by this time the shipping dates had slipped massively so I didn't bother and thought I'll just stick with my current phone for another year.
Today I found that Curry's still have stock available for the 16th (which is where I got my 13pro from last year) so I've now got a Gold 14 pro coming on Friday.

I've also ordered the AiPods Pro for delivery on the 23rd.

I did it to free up the sim slot for my work sim but also intend to use for travel (i.e. take the work sim out and put in a Thai tourist sim next time we go in March 2023).

However, note, that both the 13 and 14 will allow 2 active esims at the same time. You can have upto 8 installed but two active. If you have a nano sim active then you can only have 1 eSIM active.

I tried to sort myself out this morning with an eSIM, converting from a psychical one with EE.

I tried following a guide I found online via the MyEE app but it wouldn't activate for some reason, so EE are going to send me a QR code through the post - why not email?!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks if you've also converted on EE or using the MyEE app?
