I tried to sort myself out this morning with an eSIM, converting from a psychical one with EE.

I tried following a guide I found online via the MyEE app but it wouldn't activate for some reason, so EE are going to send me a QR code through the post - why not email?!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks if you've also converted on EE or using the MyEE app?
In store is faster….

Thank goodness Apple don't use the unspeakably awful Evri/Hermes to ship any products. For the FIFTH time in a row I've had my ASOS Premier delivery fail because of Evri's shambolic, breathtaking incompetence. "We're sorry, your parcel has been delayed" is not really good enough 5 orders in a row when you pay for 'Premier' delivery.

Not that ASOS give a sh*t of course.

On iPhone day on Friday I'm expecting DHL and its charming, if at times unreliable, snake but maybe it'll be DPD so I can get a nice hour delivery slut. 😉

Does anyone have photos of the leather Ink case?
Trying to decided between it and the Forest Green.
I have the Midnight in silicone and want to get a leather case in a different colour.

I've been using the Pitaka case for a couple of years (MagEZ version). It doesn't add any bulk to the phone as it's ultra thin and only 20g. My phone still looks immaculate and I really didn't want to add any extra bulk to the pro max. Unfortunately for this thin and light case, you are paying £59... but for me it's worth it.
Second these cases. When I first started using it I was worried about drop protection but I actually find the case so grippy that dropping it hasn’t been a concern at all. ive Ordered one for the 14 PM, just hope they have the dimensions correct as it pretty critical on this style of case

Apple doing Apple things again.

4K ProRes only available for 256GB devices and above. Im so glad i didnt go for 128GB even though my used storage is always below or around 70GB.

Never get the value back though on trade in/MM etc.

Do you need it/use it? I know a lot and they never even knew it was a thing.

If messing with video and editing then I imagine it’ll be good, but not sure how many do on an iPhone for that level, would probably have better cameras to.

If you’re only using about half now of the storage it’s a waste really. Obviously if can afford and don’t mind extra that’s fine. I’m up to 110Gb on a 128Gb iPhone, and stuck with same. I was hoping base would be 256Gb, would a little housekeeping and I’ll be fine until is raised next year (hopefully!)

Got to say I never used to be a fan but I find EVRi/Hermes really reliable and usually the fastest for me. Always get the day after dispatch even when it arrives at local depot that day. Might be lucky with my courier though perhaps in your case it is more ASOS not getting their act together (as sometimes they mark as dispatch when it is still waiting to be collected).

I need 256 because I like to store lossless music to use with my Dac. I could just about manage with 128 but I’d have to do regular housekeeping. I plan on keeping this phone for at least 2 years, so it’s worth it for me.

Yep it’s a use case thing for me. I’m using 100GB now plus don’t need 4K Pro res so why line Apple’s pockets more just for the sake of a feature I’ll never use...though I know plenty on here may kid themselves and say they may need it in the future.

Evri are the pits...lost two international parcels recently and after multiple attempts chasing them, finally admitted they were probably lost given how long ago they received the items from Global ePost 🙄

It must vary by area because where I live in Kent, more often than not they will just not deliver your parcel the day they're meant to - and often they only let you know this fact late in the day as well. You have to wait a day, or two days later. Even if you selected a next day option on the website you ordered from ... they could not care less. It is literally impossible to speak to a human being in customer service (and I mean actually impossible) and they don't even have social media.

They also never, ever knock. I live in an apartment complex and they saunter in and dump parcels in the communal mail area (where parcels have been stolen), rather than walking 15 seconds more to at least leave it outside my actual property's door, let alone try knocking. One time they delivered my parcel to a totally different address, the 'proof' was a blurry image of white wall and the GPS the other side of town. The poor merchant I ordered from had to send me a replacement item free of charge.

I hate them with a burning passion and actually think they shouldn't be in business. Maybe it needs to be made law that the courier a company uses is listed at checkout - I for one would not make the purchase if Evri was the option and maybe that would send a message to the companies involved.

Not that any of that will happen, mind, and it will continue to be courier roulette with many online stores. 😭

This is one issue where everyone is so different. I went the other way a couple of years ago, Pro to Pro Max, and could now never imagine going back down in size and have really tiny hands. My moment of revelation was regarding the much discussed one-handed use. When I realised that with my small hands I already had to use a Pro two-handed I thought "well, if I already use my phone two-handed most of the time why not also get the benefit of a bigger screen".

I do of course realise that others like you have had a completely different journey and have ended up at a different place as far as determining their preferred size is concerned but I think that both of our stories show that the idea that small hands equates to a preference for a Pro and big hands equates to a preference for a Pro Max is by no means a given.

I tend to sway about every few years when I fancy a change

Question that you fine people might be able to answer.

I’ve ordered my new phone (with trade-in) for collection from the Liverpool Apple Store.

I was hoping to start on the Apple Upgrade Program. Stupidly I didn’t realise there was a whole different page to order that from.

Do we reckon it’s likely the store will be able to sort that out on Friday? (Possibly a return followed by re-purchase on the Program?) when does payment get taken for a purchase-for-collection order? How does a trade-in work with starting a new AUP Program?

I really do agree that retailers should make it clear which courier service they use 👍

Yes I think they will sort that for you with a return and repurchase. For store collection you have effectively already paid or at least funds reserved until dispatch when proper payment is taken.

That’s fair do, just you didn’t mention other things required, if it was just Prores then think be a waste

Can anyone shed light on how Amazon handles apple preorders? I’ve ordered the Ultra and just wondering if that’s likely to ship on the 23rd.

Hi all, new here. I have my first ever iPhone ordered, the 14 Pro in purple with a midnight leather case and S8 45mm watch, expecting them to arrive on Friday 16th.

Long time Android user and currently have a Note 10+ which I’ve now had just over 3 years. Looking forward to the change.

Welcome to the beautiful chaos that is pre-launch!

Are you going to use the Move to iOS app or start fresh? 😊
