Hi all, new here. I have my first ever iPhone ordered, the 14 Pro in purple with a midnight leather case and S8 45mm watch, expecting them to arrive on Friday 16th.

Long time Android user and currently have a Note 10+ which I’ve now had just over 3 years. Looking forward to the change.
Welcome buddy to Mac Rumours and iPhone ownership

Can I also add HSBC fraud checks are awful...why is my Apple preorder being flagged even though I’ve verified the payment with OTP. I mean what’s the point of verifying the payment in the first place if HSBC then just block the payment anyway? I’ve bought more high value things on the card with no issues before either.

ive checked 3rd party companies around my area and they are offering around £50 - £80 less than apple.
Try reBuy they might offer a better price and google reviews looks solid, I don’t have first hand experience of them, but that’s where my 12Pro max is going. £460 from Apple, reBuy £592…..

Can anyone shed light on how Amazon handles apple preorders? I’ve ordered the Ultra and just wondering if that’s likely to ship on the 23rd.
Many of us have had success with Amazon in the past and (one of) my backup iPhone preorders is with them 😂. I see availabilty for launch for both the phone and the watch SKUs is being refreshed so does seem to be an indication of them knowing their allocation rather than accepting any and all orders. Fingers crossed

Man people who have “back up” orders are selfish.

My tip would be to stay away from UK E-sim's unless you need to go to dual sim. If you want to do e-sim on your main number, then do it after you've upgraded the phone and everything is settled down. I do dual sim where my work O2 account is the e-sim and Vodafone is the physical sim.

The reason for my comment is that the US carriers are much more integrated into the iOS software. You can transfer an e-sim between phones in the US as part of the upgrade process when you set up your new phone (at least with the main carriers). This just doesn't work with UK carriers as far as I know. You need to manually request the e-sim swap with Vodafone or O2 and it's hit and miss as to whether it works smoothly (particularly on Vodafone).

I somehow lost the Vodafone e-sim in my apple watch a few weeks ago and needed to do a sim swap request on their website to add it back to the same watch. This took 6 days, four attempts & many hours of online chats. During one attempt, the agent accidentally started an e-sim transfer on my main number rather than the watch number. When it works, it's great, when it doesn't, it's just terrible.

Thanks for the advice!

I actually agree, I get people really want to own an iPhone on launch day but once getting the device the feeling goes away 20 mins after having it in your hand. It's technically blocking someone else potentially being able to get the phone
I need one on release day as sold my old Pro Max a few weeks ago and am using an iPhone 6 which keeps crashing if I try any apps (even the older no longer supported ones)...I can’t face another month of using it 😔

Both sites STILL have day one availability for launch so hardly taking it away from anyone! Don’t presume to think this is simply having about having that day one feeling. As it happens I need a phone before going away and my old one is with MM

Can you remember which options/path you took in the MyEE app?
I only did mine this morning and I think it was the EE App-plan-settings-order new SIM/eSIM

From there you choose eSIM and it asks if you want to convert your physical SIM to eSIM

Lol only a couple of hours ago and I have forgotten already :)

I bought a 128gb pro max on Barclays Finanice, for collection on Friday, can I swap this for a 256gb in store at all, and just pay the extra?

Why does it work better than the Apple battery pack? I've been debating getting one for a while and recently found out about this Anker one, looks a lot bigger/bulkier than the apple one in images
I have the Anker battery pack also. Purchased prior to a 4 day break to Disneyland Paris to ensure i got plenty of juice for teh long days of use. Works great and bolts onto the bck of my iPhone with MagSafe exceptionally strongly. I get around 2 full Cherages from empty with it. The Apple battery pack is designed to fix to the phone and keep the power topped up versus charge from near empty, although it can do that obviously. Apple version batter pack power level is tracked in the iOS also like an Apple Watch battery level for example if this is something important to you.

They are quoting amazing prices. For my 128GB 13 Pro Max Comparemymobile.com is showing best prices of just over £550 with about £10 difference between them (Vendi, WeBuyAnyPhone and MusicMagpie showing as the top 3) whereas ReBuy is giving a price of £652 which interesting is the same regardless of whether I declare the screen and the back as "Very Good" or "Like New" (they are both like new imo). I was a bit put off by the web site though, when I tried to look what prices they were offering for other stuff (Tablets, Audio, Wearables etc) every single one of those links went straight to a 404 error page. I also don't see any contact details. I suppose that might be there if I went further through the selling process but I do think they could improve their site to make it a bit more reassuring.

As a counterbalance though I looked them up in TrustPilot and that gives them a 4.8 "Excellent" rating based on 3,761 (at time of this post) reviews and also does list a UK address and email and telephone contact details. For £100 extra I'm definitely considering this option. Thanks for pointing it out.

For convenience here is the link to the TrustPilot page I found - https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/re-buy.co.uk

It was the trust pilot score (I may have incorrectly said google reviews sorry).
Anyone on here recommending just exchanging my phone with Apple for £460 versus reBuy for £592?

These lot seem to still have preorders for 16th

Interesting though that they seem to have Pro for Sep 16 delivery but Pro Max is showing Oct 5 delivery (still much better than Apple UK is quoting).

I commented on a similar case an hour or two ago to someone who found gold & silver Pro still available from Currys for Sep 16 delivery. I was hesitant to form conclusions on just that but with this example as well it does look to me as if the supply/demand situation is currently most out of balance for the Pro Max and is better balanced for the Pro.
