Question that you fine people might be able to answer.

I’ve ordered my new phone (with trade-in) for collection from the Liverpool Apple Store.

I was hoping to start on the Apple Upgrade Program. Stupidly I didn’t realise there was a whole different page to order that from.

Do we reckon it’s likely the store will be able to sort that out on Friday? (Possibly a return followed by re-purchase on the Program?) when does payment get taken for a purchase-for-collection order? How does a trade-in work with starting a new AUP Program?
They'll sort it out. Their internal process is called "changing lanes" - I did that a couple of years ago.

Just make sure they actually do process the refund-return on the phone you've actually paid for. They forgot that part for me and it was only my credit card bill that alerted me to it.

Fortunately I didn’t have any problems preordering my phone and managed to get into the App Store app at approximately 1.06pm and got my confirmation email soon after. I was panicking as I was constantly refreshing the web site and the app and it took six minutes to get in but then everything went smoothly.

On a side note I also managed to preorder the Apple Watch Ultra for release day. I did preorder the one with the Black/Grey Trail Loop only to get a delivery date near the end of October ( can’t remember the actual date ) because that’s the band I actually wanted. I ended up cancelling it and preordering the one with the Orange Alpine Loop as it has delivery for September 23rd. I’m just going to buy the Black/Grey Trail Loop later.

So basically the summary for eSIMs is...

EE are the most reliable and convenient with eSIM in the UK. They allow transfers from iPhone to iPhone, issue from the My EE app or ultimately can request a paper QR code from their telephone CS or one of their stores.

Vodafone are convenient with the online issue from their website.

Unforutantely, O2 are a little bit of a mess. You have to request a paper QR code from their telephone CS or one of their stores and you have to ask for 5G too. Remember, requesting an eSIM from their telephone CS will process the request immediatelly and you will be left without service until the QR arrives by post. Although @steveing64 had a different experience and activated his QR code online: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ers-and-dispatch-thread.2357187/post-31444320

Three supprted it for a couple of months about a couple of years ago, and since then they are not issuing new eSIMs. They say so in their website too.

EE seems to be the best by a country mile for supporting the technology the iPhone. O2 surprises me as they have the most experience with Apple but my experience sadly matches yours. It is why I am still on a physical SIM with them and my second SIM is an eSIM from EE...

I went to use one today and the stupid machine had a message on the screen telling me the machine is sleeping and to come back between 7am and 10pm. I presume it means it doesn't work on a Sunday and I'll be trying again tomorrow.

Ahh damn! How annoying. Maybe it still needs a human at the other end at some point during the process? Let us know how you get on with it as I’m genuinely interested to hear how it all works.

Same story on the watch, I’ve a separate order for the hiking band, but that’s arriving in November

Yes I think I’m going to just put in a separate preorder for the black/grey alpine loop. If I can get in store sooner I’ll cancel the preorder.

I was late locking in the trade in price of my 13 Pro Max and forgot to do it before the Apple key note. The best I can find is £758 with ReBuy so I’ll probably go with them. I did use them last year when I traded in my 12 Pro Max and it went very smoothly. What I like about them is that they send a courier with the packaging to pick it up.

Does anyone on this thread know if Apple stores will have walk in stock on friday? i asked in store today and they said they wouldn't know until the day?

Has anyone ever purchased by turning up at 8am and getting one?

Thanks in advance

Ordered a 256gb iPhone 14 Pro Max in Silver for delivery on the 16th. I’m upgrading from an iPhone X so this is an upgrade in likely every single possible way!

Sorting out my accessories in preparation: any recommendations for clear cases and screen protectors?

Does anyone happen to have an EE perks code Per chance?
I have both perks at work and student EE perks codes but they can’t accept them over the phone, they can only accept NHS ones or ones generated through the EE perks portal? Happy to swap for something else (student code) if that’s of any used
I'd try them again. I called 150 and went through to the upgrades team and had no problem when giving them my Perks at Work code. They took the code from me and the 20% was applied on the contract they showed me to approve.

Just done it from the App - took 5 mins max. Thanks!

Looking at transferring my Esim from my 12 to my 14 pro Friday. As far as I can see I need to do it from the ee app on the new phone, I will get a confirmation code sent to the old phone which I punch into the new phone and it should then just move over. That’s how I understand it any way

So, processed my Music Magpie sale as today was the last day of my price being saved. It says allow 7 days for this to arrive, I thought we got 14 days to send it over?

I also processed my MM order today. We both have 21 days to send it and for them to inspect/sign off.

I will be sending mine on Saturday 17th at which point I hope to have the new one up and running.

They use RM Tracked 48 so even with delays they will likely receive within 5 days.

However no more RM strikes until the 30th now so should be normal service.

Personally I would go with ESR clear cases and screen protectors.

I was under the impression that iOS 16 has an eSIM transfer option.

Just had a notification to get ready for my new iPhone… only 4 days until Friday!

I transferred my EE eSim from my 11 Pro Max to my 13 Pro Max last year via the app and it worked perfectly. Took all of 5 minutes.

Would you mind explaining the process, I think I have it right but would like a confirmation.

I believe everything is done via the ee app on your new phone, but you need your old phone for the confirmation code they send you via text
