Hey all .. I’ve gone all out with it this year 14 pro in space black from Apple arriving on Friday 
then ordered AirPods Pro 2 from Apple and I ordered the Watch Ultra off Amazon on their pay in 5 interest free payments, upgrading from my S5

Did Currys deliver on launch day last year?
I see they say "delivery by 16th" on the product page, but when you go through the motions of checkout it says "We'll deliver for FREE as soon as we get stock from our suppliers – in most cases on launch day."
Is it? I thought it was different, do I just give apple my iPhone next year, and do it all again?

Same here. And my order was done no later than 13:01 so no way they had sold out or anything by then. I'm hoping it's just an error that will be fixed this week sometime. I checked my email confirmation from last year and it did indeed show delivery on release date which didn't change. But I'd still be surprised if it didn't arrive on Friday, if I'm honest (especially as it says by the 19th). Otherwise it's going be a 20th delivery, at the earliest!
Never pre ordered from Amazon before. I seem to have been lucky and snagged a 14 PM after the **** show of the pre arranged Barclays finance on pre order day.
Assume these will come as per a regular delivery on the 16th? Went to check today and it’s saying ‘temp out of stock’ so im hopeful my order went trough when they did have stock.
Also they (Amazon) were offering pay in 5 too. Weirdly when I went back the out of stock message was there rate than the ‘pre order’ and usual prime blurb.
I am half expecting this order to fail or be pushed back somewhat.
Does Amazon use DPD for their launch day delivery or their own couriers?

I stopped the upgrade program on the iPhone 11.
Annoying that you have to physically be in store, you are forced to buy AC+, overall it is more expensive.
I think you will need to make another order if you want a different model, which will mean a delay on your upgrade.
Mine iPhone 14 Pro Max Delivery date between 10/10/22 - 17/10/22. So long. Strange some will get in September. I ordered 09/09/22 about 13:40.

That's a late review embargo on the Series 8. I guess they know it's a very modest update with little to talk about bar the crash detection and ovulation analysis from the temperature sensing.
I'm now wondering if I should cancel my Series 8 order with the massive price hike (£130 on the steel milanese loop) and ship date of 29th September, and instead opt for the Series 7 at £649 or less...
I ordered a 13 pro max from Currys last year and it was delivered on release date and dispatched the day before and was delivered by DPD
Yep it arrived on launch day, and via DPD.
Unfortunately I didn't know until the actual day that the phone was going to arrive, as DPD didn't give me the usual advanced notification of delivery, and my 1hr time slot arrived mid morning on the day compared to the usual 8am.
I was very anxious that day and I'm expecting the same again this year!
I think it’s always the same every years:
- Apple, generally very reliable for delivery on launch
- carriers, normally a mess doing the pre orders and lots of nerves but normally come good.
- other stores, lots of ambiguity as to whether they’ll arrive on launch. Clueless helpline staff but tend to come good for the most part.

Depends how much more you want those additional features. Really the 6,7 and 8 are pretty much the same!!

I currently have a steel Series 6. The larger, brighter display is the same on both the 7 and 8, which will be very welcome.
Car crash detection will be one of those features I'll be happy to have and hopefully never need, though I will almost always have my upcoming 14 Pro Max with me in the car, so a moot point.
Ovulation analysis... Wrong gender for me to take advantage of! Though if they can get the temperature sensing to be more general in a future watchOS update, I would find that useful as my home is a revolving door of illness with a nursery age son.
With depreciation so bad on Apple Watches, that £130 hike is becoming a bitter pill to swallow as I'll never see that return. Decisions, decisions...
I did go from 4-6, 6-7. The advantage of the 7 is how fast the charging is. It is substantially faster than the 6 that alone was worth the upgrade. I can’t see the point in the 8 as I’m the same if they don’t open temp sensor to anything else it’s pointless. They didn’t even mention any SoC updates in the keynote. It’s like they have put out a watch for the sake of putting it out because they release 1 each year.
