I think the watch is a 2-3 upgrade cycle.

I use to upgrade my watch every year until I got the series 5. I realised then that the huge depreciation in value and the incremental Juno’s meant it wasn’t worth it. I’ve preordered the Ultra but if I don’t get along with it or if I think it’s too big I’ll return it and get a series 8. Then I’ll see if they bring out a smaller Ultra next year.

The £100 on offer from apple / most others for trade in is a joke.

Just had a look at shipping times on the Apple Store, 14 is 20th to 22nd September, 14 Plus is still on launch day October 7th, 14 Pro, 11th to 18th October and 14 Pro Max is 18th to 25th October. It’s certainly clear looking on the Apple Store and everywhere else people want the Pros. Fun fact the iPhone 14 (Non plus), was still on launch day up until this morning.

How was it the past years? Do you remember the waiting time for the max versions let’s say in Oct and Nov after launch? I am trying to understand if I should wait before placing an order until a point when I can just walk in and buy it or when the delivery time reduces considerably. Or if it can only get worse!

I think it’s always the same every years:

- Apple, generally very reliable for delivery on launch
- carriers, normally a mess doing the pre orders and lots of nerves but normally come good.
- other stores, lots of ambiguity as to whether they’ll arrive on launch. Clueless helpline staff but tend to come good for the most part.

Lots to think about here.

I’ve got an Apple order in but it’s for well into October because of their complete screw up with completing pre-approved orders on the app (I’ve spoken to support about this and basically got “yeah that’s bad sorry, but you’re out of luck”).

I’ve got an order with Amazon that in theory should be release day, though it says date confirmed soon.

I’m now wondering if I should actually order with Curry’s as I get 6% off gift cards through my employer, and cancel the above two…

Never understood why the Watch depreciation is so bad, must be the worse Apple device for value when you factor in upgrading

The ‘lower end’ models be it the aluminium ones or the SE are relatively cheap buying new (compared to the stainless steel and up). Also people pay a lot for a new strap too in the upfront cost which doesn’t reflect in the resell price.

Like spec’ing loads of extras in a new car, they’re pretty much irrelevant in the 2nd hand price when selling.

True but the resell value on my S6 SB Titanium is shocking for a 2 year old device

Here comes my case

Bought this one last night so should come today, very pleased with last years apart from the slight panic I had last week when I noticed the bottom of the screen smashed only to realise it was the screen protector!
I always use these too - but I do find they scratch up really easily. No idea why. Other brands tend to be ok but o do like the amorite fit and how it’s almost invisible. Especially in a case

I would and then use a cash back site too

Tempting. Are Currys generally reliable for iPhone launch?

My big concern is getting the £1400 of vouchers and then Currys goes out of stock, or messes up and I’m stuck with that many vouchers instead of cash…
I have had no problems with Currys personally goes out of stock then it will come back in stock you could always treat yourself to a nice oled tv while you wait ;)
Used them for my 11 pro max and 12 pro max used jacamo last year lol

Back on to get a new iPhone on launch day this year - skipped last year, but my 14 Pro in black will be ready for me to collect in store on Friday!

My wife wanted a Pro this year as well, but we're holding off until friends & family discount on that one. Likewise for an Apple Watch Ultra for me. Hope that isn't too late into the year!

Cheaper to start with, and less demand as still a niche product and most people don’t see its value, just my 2 cents though.

Had an LG OLED for 2 years and absolutely no desire to ever replace it. Wonderful piece of kit!
