the 18-25 is literally the week after release?

was there a window which was sooner? I can't remember if they went from 16th delivery to then 18-25th?

if so, historically, the 2nd back of deliveries have starting going PFS on launch day too, they then soon arrive after the following week. no idea if that will happen again, but there's hope!

I think it went to Weds 21st then 18th to 25th bit off 😂

Is it? I thought it was different, do I just give apple my iPhone next year, and do it all again?

No, just sell it to someone like music magpie and pocket the difference!

Both are 0%

with iup you have to pay a deposit and then split your remaining cost over 20months - the cost includes apple care. When you come to upgrade, it’s nearly always going to be the case that your phone will be worth more than your remaining balance. By giving it back to apple, you don’t see any of that difference. You also don’t get and pro rata refund on apple care.

For the 24 month 0%, you can decide if you want to take out apple care or not. There’s no upfront deposit and you split your cost over 2 years. You can decide when you want to change/upgrade. To upgrade, you would sell your phone yourself (either privately or to someone like music magpie - best to do this in advance of the release of the new phone to maximise value) you then use this to pay off Barclays yourself and you pocket the difference. If you have taken apple care and paid in full for the 2 year cover (not the rolling monthly) then you call apple and get a refund on remaining balance ( as long as you have not made a claim). Because you might sell your phone early to maximise profit, you might be without a device for a few days.

If that seems like too much effort ( lots of us do this), then iup is for you.

I did go from 4-6, 6-7. The advantage of the 7 is how fast the charging is. It is substantially faster than the 6 that alone was worth the upgrade. I can’t see the point in the 8 as I’m the same if they don’t open temp sensor to anything else it’s pointless. They didn’t even mention any SoC updates in the keynote. It’s like they have put out a watch for the sake of putting it out because they release 1 each year.
I forgot about the fast charging via USB C. I'm normally quite regimented about charging, but faster will be useful when I'm in a rush.

I've largely moved all of my household's technology across to USB C and the Apple Watch is one of the remaining USB A devices.

We are getting there with USB-C or MagSafe. The charge speed on the watch is definitely noticeable. As obvious as when you plug phone into fast charge.

Good enough reason to upgrade but if you can get a good deal on a 7 May aswell do that.

Thanks!

Thats good news by the sounds of it and Three are pretty good in my area, left them for a cheaper deal via affordable mobiles (EE) quite sometime ago. May even sign back up to Three by affordable mobiles again. So its pretty much a toss up and around £500 cost saving over 2 years vs EE (my current provider).
That is quite a saving.

Never pre ordered from Amazon before. I seem to have been lucky and snagged a 14 PM after the **** show of the pre arranged Barclays finance on pre order day.

Assume these will come as per a regular delivery on the 16th? Went to check today and it’s saying ‘temp out of stock’ so im hopeful my order went trough when they did have stock.

Also they (Amazon) were offering pay in 5 too. Weirdly when I went back the out of stock message was there rate than the ‘pre order’ and usual prime blurb.

I am half expecting this order to fail or be pushed back somewhat.

Does Amazon use DPD for their launch day delivery or their own couriers?

The majority of the time they will use there own carriers and for something expensive they will give you a code that you need to give to the courier so they can’t steal it. I have had Amazon use DPD and Hermes/Evri in the past though.

Got the LK case yesterday, I am actually impressed with the quality, all nicely lined inside the case and does not feel "cheap " at all.

Comes with 2 screen protectors and a guide bracket for hopefully putting it on straight.

It depends who despatched it - Amazon or Apple - in the past Amazon have delayed delivering on first day to second day as they have only received them to despatch with their own couriers on the release day. In other cases they have been despatched directly from Hinkley and gone via DPD/DHL.

I know there was some interest in the Peel “ultra thin” cases earlier in the thread.

I’ve just found the following on Amazon available with Prime shipping: memumi Case for iPhone 14 Pro Max, Ultra Slim 0.3mm Case for iPhone 14 Pro Max, Matte Finish Extra Thin Case, Anti-Scratch and Fingerprint Resistant Case (6.7 '' 2022) https://amzn.eu/d/guclCEf

I’ve got one on order for tomorrow, but it claims to be as thin as the Peel case (0.3mm), also frosted and branding-free. Plus, it looks like it has individual holes punched for the camera lenses, rather than a big block cutout.

It might be worth considering as an alternative to Peel - cheaper, shipping from within the U.K. and available now (I think Peel is on pre-order until September end).

It doesn’t look branding free from the images.

Hi everyone. Sad to see the price went up so much for you all. :( Anyway.

What are you all opinion on iOS apps that require a subscription ? Curious.

Like anything. I will try to think of examples. Not something like Netflix, Disney+, etc I mean just a plain iOS app.

I doubt I’d have got an 8 if I had a 6 or 7. Last year there was disappointment when the rumoured flat designs never materialised.

Coming from a 5 I’m looking forward to and 8 now. Bigger screen, albeit 1mm (every little counts!) and the wrap around the curve will be a new enough experience for me.

Unless next there’s an ultra mini next year or the series 9 has a major overhaul, the. I’ll be sticking.

Even if it does change significantly next year, the depreciation alone might give me two minds!

Here’s hoping for an Apple Watch X on its 10th anniversary!

I have been contemplating too long and may have missed launched day boat. I have a lot of Amazon credits so would like to purchase from Amazon. I’m still on the fence about Pro and Pro Max. Colour wise will stick with boring Black and 128gb for storage. Decisions decisions.

That’s a fair move from S5. You will defo notice the difference. Oxygen monitor if you need it, faster charging, curved screen. Onscreen keyboard. Better battery life.

So last years 13 PM has more capacity than this years 14 PM? They must of reported wrong and it’s the other way round!
Pretty sure it’s correct the 14PM was mentioned it‘s battery is slightly smaller than the 13 PM but the A16 is more energy efficient so still probably about the same in real terms
