What model are you getting?

I was having the same thought.

Mine are in mint condition with all the original packaging, so should qualify as A grade.
I remember reading on Reddit from people who work(ed) for CEX that grade A is usually only given for sealed electronics or if you’ve just opened the item but never used it. They’re really strict about it apparently.

Thanks both.

I accept that there'll be more work involved with starting fresh (I've screengrabbed all of my settings) but I want to try and keep stuff like that to a minimum.
not really...

all my passwords are saved in keychain so its easy logging in.

you will need to set up banking apps and some Authenticator apps can be funny (MS Authenticator for work causes problems as I need to get a new QR code from support at work). Banking apps will need to be too, but they would be the case regardless as its a new device.

you'll be asked when logging into iCloud to add your cards back, they'll need to then be authorised as per usual.

I find it quite cathartic starting clean each year. (and I can delete the million random apps my daughter has installed!)

their T&Cs are expectedly vague too!

6.3 Condition of products - the price will vary depending on the cosmetic condition of the Products and its accessories. We break this down into grades:

  • Grade A - Mint condition

Seeing more and more videos of the Deep Purple on social media has solidified that I made the right choice choosing it this year.
Such a gorgeous colour, can’t wait to have it in person on Friday.

I agree and also quite like that it looks almost navy in some lights.

I think there’s an element to what the person said above too where it’s a personal device really. I wouldn’t want to wear someone else’s watch to be fair

I think it would be okay if you cleaned it all up with sanitising wipes before wearing it. You could alway get a new strap. I've bought second hand earrings and clean them with alcohol before I wear. Couldn't do second hand shoes though 🤢

Back on to get a new iPhone on launch day this year - skipped last year, but my 14 Pro in black will be ready for me to collect in store on Friday!

My wife wanted a Pro this year as well, but we're holding off until friends & family discount on that one. Likewise for an Apple Watch Ultra for me. Hope that isn't too late into the year!
I vote your wife gets the upgrade and you wait for F&F discount :)
I had an email off Music Magpie on Saturday to say they had received it. Interestingly the RM tracking still doesn't show it as delivered! Relieved it is sorted now though
This seems to be common place with deliveries to companies at the moment - am finding it with courier returns. Despite my support of EVRi yesterday I initiated a lost item claim as the tracking stopped and after 2 weeks they said they couldn't locate the item - only to get a refund email from the retailer a few days later.
Do we know what day the reviews are due? Wednesday?
Tuesday

hmm, CEX all buy grade A AirPods Pro's for £104..... MM give you £55!

I can't be contemplating more stuff just because its a few days wait for the phones....
You could even sell them as separates on eBay. Each component seems to fetch north of £40 after fees if you don’t want any quality disputes with CEX

Has anyone been able to use Curry's gift cards to purchase the new iPhone? Looking to buy some with my corporate discount but it states "Gift cards intended for sim free mobile phones can only be used in store"

interesting, just not sure I cold be bothered with 3 auctions and fees and dealing with 3 different buyers...

might wonder into a cex and see what they quote me!

when are the new ones out? I'm hoping they'll be easily available in store

I've never had CEX rate anything as A. "ooh there's a nasty shadow on the screen". :)

I'd like to think mine would too... the case has been in a case since day one.

I did sell some OG AirPods to them but they knocked off due to scuffs on the case.

Your local CEX branches must be really strict!

I get A grade all the time on my stuff. Sold a MacBook Air 2018 as A grade very recently, sold some 2 year old Bose headphones as A grade last year, sold a Kindle as A grade etc earlier this year.

I am on good terms with my local branch and they always look forward to my stuff when testing etc.

Not going to risk buying from Currys anyway as imagine the iPhone has slight damage or is DOA...they’ll refund you in gift cards and you’ll be stuck having to buy another iPhone off them and by then the delivery could be well into October.

Haven't checked all of the recent pages, sorry if it's already been posted: but FYI - The Apple Stores will be closed next Monday for the Queen's funeral:

Currently in this position too. I just spoke to the online chat and they said I could use vouchers but it doesn’t fill me with confidence. Maybe I’ll try a £10 voucher first.

That’s a great 2nd hand price. It rather counters the argument about depreciation on the watch being much to do with it being such a personal item.

I would much rather wear another person’s watch than their ear buds. Eww!

Think I might just keep my air pods pro. Use them as my upstairs headphones lol and new ones for everything else

have sold stuff to CEX before, but I have never seen anyone buy a used iPhone from CEX, particularly based on the prices they charge...... might as well get a new iPhone on 24 months 0% through Apple rather than buy last years models through CEX (UK).

Never understood why the Watch depreciation is so bad, must be the worse Apple device for value when you factor in upgrading
I’ll take a completely uneducated guess based purely from my own experience:

The second hand market for Apple Watches is much smaller than for phones. There are fewer people interested in the product, and fewer still that would be comfortable with a second hand piece of wearable tech.

Now, those people who perhaps want an affordable Apple Watch… They aren’t necessarily looking for a premium model. They want cheap. And you can get a brand new SE for £259 or a Series 8 for £419. They have the option of getting a nice strap later on.

Just my guess, based also on the fact that I bought a rather expensive Series 0 - which never worked well. 12 months later Apple released a model which worked so much better. From that point on, I myself only upgraded twice and each time went for the cheapest model available.

that is an option too... for £90 quid CEX might give me, I could give them to my son... I wouldn't be able to buy a pair or mint gen1 anywhere for that price!
Yeah, I would never consider selling to MM for £55 might as well keep them. For me the 3 years I got out of them was great that might as well keep

Yeah for reference my SS graphite 45mm series 7 most on a comparison site I’ve seen is £250 for a £749 watch. Will sell mine to MM when my ultra arrives. Wonder how much ultra will be this time next year. Maybe 300 odd

Useful to know. Thanks Jinjin.

I agree I'm looking forward to the catharsis from starting fresh due to carrying such an old backup that's incrementally been added to since 2007. Any sluggishness and odd behaviour has been masked away with annual improvements in hardware performance.

I maintain a regular encrypted backup on my Mac anyway, so I can always revert to that if needs be in a pinch.
