They’ve done the same as Very. Says on the page of the phone I want 'pre-order for delivery on the 16th' once purchased the confirmation email says estimated delivery 19/09/22.

I wouldn’t worry. I ordered the AirPods Pro 2 from Very, technically before preorders went live (I’m staff) and they’ve got an EDD of the 26th, which is the Monday after launch day.

I’m confident they’ll arrive on the 23rd as they should. As far as I’m aware, certain products sold by Very, including iPhones and AirPods, ship directly from the distributor which can throw off Very’s delivery estimates when it involves a preorder.

So here we are then. Most people have their preorders and accessories sorted. Cutekitty has probably only cancelled and reordered three times so far, but it’s only Monday…

Let’s hear your stories. Who’s been here longest? Any interesting previous preorders?

My first iPhone was the 3G and I’d already been a forum member here for five years! Those of us who preordered through the Carphone Warehouse didn’t get our SIMs activated for three days after delivery. We only figured out it was CPW customers (and that it was all CPW customers) via this forum. CPW blamed O2 and vice versa.

I ended up logging who’d ordered what and when, putting it in a list online (with their permission.) Through that, I ended up being contacted by two national newspapers and asked to give a short interview about our frustrations.

Other interesting launches were the iPhone 4 and 5S. They were the only times where I either couldn’t or didn’t preorder and queued outside the Armdale Centre on launch day, from about 2am. This was back in the day of very long lines for iPhone launches.

The iPhone 4 launch was reasonably nice. I was sixth in the queue which was made up of largely Apple fans. Some were members of this forum. We had a reasonably good time, chatting all things Apple.

The 5S launch was horrible. I was about 30th in the queue but the vast majority were scalpers. Dozens of people pushed in at the front of the queue and, with no security, what could be done? Blokes driving up and down in blacked out cars. Huge stacks of cash changing hands. Likely nothing illegal, but some dodgy characters for sure. An entirely different atmosphere compared to the iPhone 4 launch.

Thankfully, the systems Apple has today, are much better even if this launch didn’t go perfectly smoothly for some.
I was 5th in line at the Brent Cross Apple store to get the original iPhone in 2007. I couldn't get an O2 signal in my parents house where I was living at the time and I knew that but I really wanted to get this magical new phone so went with it. The Apple store treated us to Starbucks and we got applauded into the store at 6:02pm.

I then had the iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, XS Max, 12 Pro Max and now pre ordered for the 14 Pro Max.

One thing I always go through with the betas, last year there was Safari extensions, I thought there wouldn’t be anything worth while, fast forward to iOS 15 release and there was and is a tonne of cool Safari extensions, this year I went through the same thing with Lock Screen widgets, I thought this isn’t really going to have anything useful for me, iOS 16 release and already there quite a few cool widgets available. Can’t wait to see what comes out over the next few months. As always it takes seeing what developers do with the feature makes the feature useful.

I used these once and had the same issue - they were awful to deal with. I absolutely hate it that no matter what you say, they just won’t change anything. Feel your pain.
The trust pilot reviews within the compare sites show this company as top tier however go to trust pilot website direct and its the complete opposite. stayed well clear of this company

And even that’s unlikely seeing as it’s Bank holiday!

Yeah it's as Saturnine says - I'd very surprised if it didn't turn up on the 16th. BUT I will say that this wasn't the case last year with the 13s, which gives me pause.

Yep couldn’t wait until Friday.

Got to create a lock screen now

Also finding haptic keyboard strange so turned them it for a while.

The Lock Screen stuff still has a way to go imo.
It just doesn’t seem fluid the customising of it. And defo not enough widget space.

Just not enough space for them….

Just downloaded iOS16 ipsw file for iPhone 14 Pro. Will perform dfu restore and do a clean setup. Not transferring all the beta gremlins from backup onto new device.

I checked my iPhone and it’s only allowing me to update to 15.7. Not that I’m fussed. I’ll probably wait until I get my new phone before using iOS 16.
If you scroll down there should be an option for iOS 16 at the bottom of the screen, as long as the phone is an iPhone 8 or newer.

Crikey! Tough thinking back.

Well I got the first iPhone at launch (iPhone 2G), prior to that I had the HTC phone I think, may have been a Nokia N95 actually.

Then I went to iPhone 3G > iPhone 3GS > iPhone 4 > iPhone 4S > iPhone 5 > iPhone 6 > iPhone 6S > iPhone 7. I only skipped the 5S, mainly as I knew it would take people a while to implement the big feature in software (TouchID).

Also I’d swap back to Android inbetween generations, so changed phone every 6 months.

Then I completely left Apple, after experiencing a high refresh phone the iPhone X and beyond was not an option for me.

Then came the iPhone 13 Pro 256Gb, so jumped on that at launch. Finally, high refresh rate screen. With my next being a iPhone 14 Pro Max 256Gb coming Friday.

Not been swapping back to Android now, as I really like FaceID and honestly as phones are so mature now isn’t as much fun swapping every 6 months. You just don’t feel like you’ve got something “new”.

If you setup as new iPhone, do all the app data e.g. Whastapp that is backed up by iCloud get restored? I do want to do a fresh install this year
