Started with The Verge review and I honestly can say that Nilay Patel is the most annoying person in the tech world to me. He tries to sound unbiased and terribly clever all the time but in reality, he's constantly passive-aggressively putting Apple down and cherry picking what he shows and says to make them look worse (or less good).

He's a clout chasing iconoclast in my opinion and I'm frankly... over him.

I mean… as we get closer to release day is anyone else’s excitement actually dying down? I think I’m realising more that I always get caught up in the hype and the 14PM will not really change my life much (if at all) from the 13PM.

....buyer's remorse 🤔

The hype is definitely because we are in this forum imo. Yes we would be excited waiting for it to arrive but it is just enhanced when speaking to the same sort of people on the same journey, especially as a lot of regulars do this each year.

By next week once the regulars have received theirs it will be quiet again in here until about July next year!!

...its all @Jinjin 's fault!

I gave up on him and The Verge about 5 years ago. I can't stand how above himself he thinks he is.

I'll be watching later. I have just had info of a RAID5 system where 2 of the disks have gone down for a customer. So all eyes on them at the moment as they have lost their backups as well!!!!
"But RAID5 was our backup!"

I quite liked the review if I'm honest - curious about his battery comment!

Nah. I only essentially paid £300-£400 to upgrade. I think it’s because I came from the 12PM to the 13PM and now the 14PM. It does start losing the excitement of it all, for me at least. I’m still eager of course but I’m also feeling far more patient than I expected to be.

I preordered the iPhone 14 PM from o2 but yet they can't tell me when my phone will arrive cause it's out of stock yet I ordered on preorder day within the hour of the preorder release. :/ is this normal?

Or maybe if the Watch could charge off an iPhone MagSafe cable? It would look a big goofy, but I think a watch charger on the back of an iPhone would look even more silly. 🤣

Would be cool if the watch would sit on the back of an iPhone for an emergency battery boost

...there is little differences this year to previous years' pre-orders and deliveries - we have the same networks slated every single year because they have screwed up pre-orders/delivery times/don't know what they're talking about!!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same stuff every year like I predicted a while back in here. IF YOU WANT GUARANTEED THEN ITS APPLE. Carriers and curry’s etc are just unreliable. They will likely come good but the stress it seems to give people just seems pointless using them.

Don’t be bringing common sense into here

What did he say about the battery?
He mentioned that he and the other two reviewers felt that the battery was running down a little quicker than the 13s - still great, long and getting a full day. But felt that it might be impacted by the AOD, curious as Apple mentioned an extra hour over last years devices - so need to see some battery numbers from other reviewers!

Each to their own but personally I can see straight through him. Nearly everything he says is designed to undermine. Example is him deliberately shooting the Dynamic Island under bright light at the right angle to show the sensors underneath and make it look less seamless.

And any praise he gives he also adds something negative to. Just not a fan at all and he's got worse and worse over the years.

Now Dieter Bohn has gone (he was good cop to Nilay's appalling cop) I think The Verge is just trash to be honest.

MKBHD and WSJ's reviews far better so far (still watching). Input magazine's written review also far more balanced and objective.

I'm not saying any reviewer should just fawn like iJustine but Nilay takes it to another level and it feels like he really hates Apple / has some sort of back hand deal with opposition to undermine them at every stage.

The Space Black looks awesome btw - not seen any Silvers - hope I don't regret my choice! 😄

Just watching MKBHD and he's saying the same thing (around 7:30ish
