Just got in contact with Currys on Twitter and this is what they told me. To be honest I don’t think personally of their customer services staff knows what is going to happen. It’s just going to have to be a wait and see what happens tomorrow.
Looks like the reviews I've seen so far believe the battery hit with AOD is significant enough to turn it off...
More clarity from another agent on Twitter.
P.S. don't bother to use the website live chat (they're completely useless and probably outsourced to Indian customer service company)
The AOD is interesting. As an Apple Watch user I have wondered if I actually need it. Given that it causes a hot to battery life I expect I’ll turn it off too. Also not sure I like how it shows the wallpaper all the time. It’s a cool implementation but not necessarily if you use a personal photo for the lock screen wallpaper!
Hmmm indeed, the system is a Win 2003 with SQL 2005, the disks are 20 years old, running Backup Exec from the same era, backing up to LTO3 and we are now LTO6, you can only use tapes up to two versions back on the same LTO
Having looked at some of the Purple devices, not sure I made the correct choice tbf. I'm hoping there will be 256gb versions of the gold one available for in-store pickup on Friday. Looks way too dark and has been described as grey or black in different lighting.

Alright, you convinced me. I ordered the Umber leather case and the Umber leather strap. The case is going to arrive by Tuesday by postal service but maybe Royal Mail do a Saturday delivery. The watch strap is on back order until the week after.
I think MKBHD still got a full day out of it easily and the Pro Max will manage a lot better as well.
Friday was greyed out completely, guess I didn’t preorder quick enough on Friday. I couldn’t find the link to do the pre-preorder thing for the iUp programme either.

Yup, not that impressed with the purple sadly. Might just end up keeping the Gold one although hoping Apple have 256gb available for store pick up.

You've already been given the delivery date as 'Release Day - 16th Sept'22' so what difference does it make when its dispatched?

Agree, I cancelled mine. As a serial upgrader its a little odd not to be awaiting a delivery but I didn’t get excited by the 14’s for some reason. Maybe I’m getting too old and sensible.
I did pre order the watch ultra despite not long buying a series 7 though…. So that will be my apple fix until a new iPad Pro emerges

How do you change the screen/page your iPhone opens to when unlocked? I have 3 pages plus the App Library, and it opens on page 3 (ooh err!) I'd much prefer it to open on page 1.

That's just stated on the website only and if you believe them? It'll never be confirmed until you receive the dispatch email and considering Currys delayed all the iPhone 12 orders 2 years ago when other retailer delivered it on the launch day.
I would order from Apple directly instead of Currys if I don't mind the cashback from Quidco.
Another off topic reply, but £112 seems excessive?!?! Mine is £54, for everything excluding BT Sport and any broadband. That includes Multiscreen too
Annoyingly mine always opens page 1 and I want page 2!!!!.
In the days of old there was always a page to the left when you swipe right so I call that page 1 these days. So all my main homepage icons are on page 2 and I can;t get it to open on page 2. I could swap page 1 and 2 over but I like my main screen being the central one.
Shame the 14 isn't coming with 6EI went a bit nest crazy when I bought my new place a few years ago. Have the nest wifi with 2 additional access points. Works reasonably well but went a bit pear shaped when setting up the sky q minis. The nest is pretty dumbed down, can’t even select your own channel… similar with sky the mesh sky q uses for the mini network, both clashed on the same channel and frequency. Luckily managed to find hidden settings on the sky to change it so things improved.
Was ready to go all in with 6E wifi and get https://www.netgear.com/uk/home/wifi/mesh/rbke963b/ but coming in at £1500 is painful!
Ironically spending that amount on a mobile phone is less of an issue
That's one thing I was really expecting Apple to include. Benefits of 6E are extensive...
