What model are you getting?

Amazon gang RISE UP.

Ordered at 13:10, 128 purple pro, no movement. Just says delivery date pending.

Has anyone in the thread had theirs ship? Saw one guy yesterday with 5 or so on order getting a dispatch, but nothing since.

If nothing from Amazon by the time i wake up tomorrow about 7am i'll cancel and try Argos/john lewis/Apple store.

Fingers crossed i get one from somewhere 😏

I'd personally not refuse delivery... can imagine it taking an age to get back to them and you to get your money!

best thing would be to take it back to an apple store if you can.
Agree. I did this last year and it took ages for the refund to be posted on my card

I'm doing the same. I'll only cancel Amazon when I've got a confirmed one elsewhere though. Just in case I can't get one elsewhere and Amazon deliver on Saturday

Not sure if when I catch up on this thread you have been replied to or not lol, but I am in the same boat every time.

I back it up to an external drive - here is how to change the backup location:

Hope this helps - I have a spare SSD from a server decom that I am going to use
Thanks!
So my macbook doesnt have a lot of storage itself, I do use an external HD of 1TB but now I'm feeling it might not be large enough, after deleting some very heavy files/apps on my macbook and then deleting very old backups on my iphone I now have managed to back it up on my macbook with is my ideal prefered method but who knows I might venture to the iCloud side when I get a bit more familiar with it

looks like I’m not getting my phone tomorrow now considering the confirmation email from sky says September 16th. 😭👎 really frustrating and no notification from DPD what so ever either so it’s defo not coming tomorrow

Thanks!

Do it. I was like you, very wary of iCloud at first but now I’m like a duck to water with it.

You might not actually be wary - just my wording but you get the gist of what I mean I hope.

What model are you after, I am guessing some sort of Pro/ pro max?

Me neither. Mine is still on preorder and, having gone through this for the last God knows how many years it would have changed by now if it was coming tomorrow. Will have a screen cover and case but no flipping phone 😡

So I thought to myself “kill time this evening and take your mind off your shiny phone arriving tomorrow”

Lap 1 went really well for me

My first time posting to one of these threads. :)

New phone (14PM DP 1TB) arriving tomorrow. Unlike in previous years, it's DHL rather than DPD (which I've always had good experiences with). Fingers crossed...

Since the 6s and onwards, I've been upgrading every single year to the then top of the line model and giving away my old one to family. A lot of money left on the table I know but it's good to know that my old phone will be going to a good home. Plus no worries after reading the horror stories on here about MM etc!

Am I the only one who has some mixed feelings about new iPhone day ? Yes, it's a new iPhone and all that but the downside (for me at least) is around a day of weekend spent setting it up, e.g.

- Updating iOS on the new phone as required
- The long restore process (couple of hours to transfer from the old phone to the new; and then more hours downloading the 600+ apps on my phone)
- Finding every year that some of the apps I had on my old phone no longer exist in the app store
- Setting up Apple Pay which is a pain if (like me) you registered have more than a half dozen cards installed
- Making sure two factor authentication codes are transferred across
- Logging back in online banking apps which all have different hoops for you to jump through (including call backs etc)
- Logging back in on all my other frequently used apps (where the info doesn't transfer across automatically even from an encrypted backup) - including generating new one time codes for some apps required to log into my Apple account
- Getting the old phone ready to be given away - logging out of certain apps (e.g. Amazon Kindle which has a limit for some books), deleting the old iCloud backup
etc

So I'm both excited and also a bit apprehensive of yet another day of tinkering around to get the new phone to how I like it and the old phone ready (after a quick polish) to be given away!
The impatience and hassle of setting it up is part of the fun! It's like a ritual to me and I've done it so many times that it kind of happens on autopilot.

The best way to live is to savour every moment, for they only happen once! 😇
