I’m just worried to do iCloud because I’ve never actually used it before to store absolutely everything on my phone… I will move on to this as long as I know I will keep everything from my phone settings to wallpapers, photos, contacts, messages etc

Do you not have your photos in the cloud and iMessage.

Made a boo boo, hope they'll let me collect my WS8 at the same time as my iPhone tomorrow 😬

I tend to do device-to-device transfer (wired with the camera adapter), I just can't remember if I have to unpair the watch first or if it just comes over (with all the previous data) in the transfer?

Being extra cautious as it's cellular and I hate calling EE to sort out the watch e-sim.

It comes over on device to device. Really neat.

I’d suggest you do the device to device and then invest some time to back up your phone/photos/messages/apps to iCloud.

Once you get they in place, then future transfers are straight forward
Thanks Jinjin, I will look into this.... for now macbook seems to be playing ball now and is backing up my phone :D

There really is no need to do this: when you erase the phone it destroys the encryption key for the SSD, given the strength of the encryption the sun would be a brown dwarf before anyone could decrypt your data.

I do it more to check activation lock is definitively turned off.

Not doubting you but cannot find owt on internet that confirms this.

So tomorrow I can carry on wearing my watch then just scan the little picture from the old iPhone on the new one and bobs my uncle?

Can anyone shed some light. I’ve always backed my iPhones up via my mac however I don’t have enough space apparently on my MacBook anymore even though I use Time Machine etc. anyways. How easy is it to use iCloud will I have everything saved from phone settings etc to pics, wallpapers contacts etc

Not sure if when I catch up on this thread you have been replied to or not lol, but I am in the same boat every time.

I back it up to an external drive - here is how to change the backup location:

Hope this helps - I have a spare SSD from a server decom that I am going to use

Out of curiosity, did Argos do preorders?

Looks like that will be an option potentially tomorrow too!

They did orders last Saturday they only seemed to have about 5 of each though. All the pros are sold out but you can buy any 14 for delivery tomorrow apparently.
