This is interesting, thanks.

I’ve gone down to a 128GB this year, as I’m happy to offload to iCloud, but I’m now thinking of setting up as new and not downloading apps that I think I could live without.

My main worry is my MS Authenticator app, as I have quite a few entries in that and in no way would I want to lose that access.

You can back it up to iCloud and most will transfer, just some accounts need to be re-verified.

I’ve started trying to move the iOS built in authenticator for as many as I can

Another year and ee still didn't implement Apple's esim transfer function.
They say they support it, but in reality it doesn’t work. But once you get in to your phone you can transfer it across quite easily (presumably if you restore from a backup). It’s just the initial panic that it won’t work.

Finally got it all set up last night. It went very smoothly. Only faff was Monzo, got to send them a video of my with my photo ID which I’ll do shortly. Thankfully a family member is buying my iPhone 13 Pro off me, so I can let my MM offer expire (which I’m happy with as they always make me nervous - although to be fair they’ve paid the quoted offer to me every year). Annoyingly the ESR Amorite screen protector on my 13 Pro is cracked and I’m going to replace it but can’t find the spare anywhere!

New Amorite screen protector installed perfectly on my 14 Pro. Loving the phone but definitely feels more like a 13 Pro ‘S’ than a 14, but I’m not complaining.

I really like the Space Black. Sometimes it’s very similar to graphite, other times it’s completely black!

I didn’t contribute much this year, but checked this thread every day and read all the posts. Thanks for a great year, see you all again next year!

A quick photo or two of my new beauty!

I had to do that with Monzo, but they verified it within seconds.

That’s correct.
Thanks. It would be so much better if the iPhone creates a list of offline songs, transfers the list over to new phone and the new phone will download all the songs according to the list.

How easy was this? My local store has nothing in stock 😔
Tbh I was hoping for stock in Manchester or Trafford Centre but nothing has been showing up for my config in the last 24 hours. Meadowhall was a last resort as it’s an hour drive but they seemed to have a bit of stock still at 6am this morning to reserve.

Hope everyone is enjoying their new phones, and for everyone else, the wait is now a day shorter.

This might be a 16.1 beta bug, but does anyone have any issues with the stock 14 pro max wallpaper, notably the Home Screen is blurred though blur is not selected when customising. No similar issues with any other wallpaper.

First Direct is a 5 minute phone call to issue a new digital key, they’ve got it down to a T.
Having to ring up feels antiquated. Even though FD is part of HSBC, the main HSBC app just transferred over to my new iPhone quite easily. I was very surprised as usually it’s such a nightmare, but kudos to them, they seem to have got their s*it together for once. Not that I use them as my daily bank anymore. Much more straightforward than the fintech banks (Monzo, Chase etc).

That’s happening with me. Not all the time but it’s definitely a bug. I’m noticing lots of UI bugs with iOS 16.1 on my 14 PM.

Did you get it done?
After 10 mins, the machine said it couldn't find somebody on Music Magpie's side to do the check.

Spoke to the security guard whilst I was waiting and he said the kiosk was installed only a week ago and he hadn't seen anybody use it yet.

I'm now at a different Asda. Hoping for better luck this time...

It’s really poor from them… I’m hoping there’s nothing I need 2FA against my mobile number for whilst I’m over there
Without coming across as a moody bugger, you kind of took the risk that anything could go wrong, even if EE’s eSIM mechanism was flawless.

If it was that important then a) wait or b) switch to physical SIM beforehand and then back to eSIM.

Nevertheless, hope you’re not scuppered when out there.

I went to a MM kiosk yesterday in Asda. Waited 15 mins and absolutely nothing happened. Then it said no one was available. Gave up and thinking of trying it again after work around 3 today.

I was looking at Starling as they support current account switching to automatically move all your direct debits etc over without you needing to mess around doing them manually.
I believe all banks support the current account switching service.
