What’s people’s thoughts on going naked with AC+? now it has unlimited repairs at £25 a screen? never broken or lost a phone but always had a case on. kinda wanna enjoy it without a case but interested to hear others thoughts
Think this myself. I used my 13 Pro Max naked for the last 3 months and got used to it. No drops, no problems. Also like you say with AC+ makes it a much safer option. Like to know what others think?
Honestly just do it. I've never used a case and while the older iPhones (like years ago) were a bit more shatter prone, they are just so, so strong these days.

If you have AC+ there's even less reason to have one.

I go naked but use a screen protector. I went naked with the 13PM and was alright. I will say though that while that £25 covers the screen it won’t cover and collateral damage to the band(?). So if you drop your phone and the band gets a hit and you shattered your screen, that might be quite annoying!

A bumper from rhinoshield might be a happy compromise if you feel the above is an issue?

You might need to grab a local sim on arrival
I have a spare Three PAYG sim which has roaming in the USA luckily but may try to get a T Mobile sim when I land just in case.

Can’t believe how much of a mess EE’s activation has been - hopefully it just sorts itself out by the time I land in Florida

You’ll get to try out an esim over there!

Careful with MusicMagpie folks.

Put my phone in the smartdrop kiosk today and it actually worked, but they adjusted the offer down as I’d missed the 21 day cut off.

Checked my email and the 21 days is up on Monday. So they’ve adjusted it down for no reason.

I’ve accepted the offer as there’s none better than what I was offered for my 12PM, and I’m not going to have time to take it back to the kiosk tomorrow (everything will be closed on monday) and no customer service was available, but I’m going to try and get them to adjust it back.
Same thing happened to me this morning. I put my 13PM in the machine. It came back with a fault and offered £125. But I declined and took the phone out. I noticed a big smudge on the faceid sensor so I gave the phone a clean all over with my cloth put it back in and it then offered the original £597 quoted price. Seems temperamental but by the time I got home 20 mins later the payment was in my bank.

This is a lesson for us all. If using MM SMARTDrop make sure that you give your iPhone a good wipe with a clean cloth!

Yep fully agree. Small thing I clearly missed but could have cost me quite a bit of money if I had accepted. I knew the phone was mint so there was no way I was accepting that price.

Some good lessons here:

- order by Apple for guaranteed no stress deliveries (well for the most part)
- don’t try and be clever and update softwares
- don’t switch to Esim until both devices are in hand.

Also @Jinjin i can’t leave until I know what happened to Dino

Honestly no idea, assumed crossed the line on some of the rules

Wow - is that downloading all of the originals or just the thumbnails (i.e. using “optimise iPhone storage”)?
Agreed. Gone are the days of needing to have that many pics/videos on the device.

I use optimise and buy the 256GB model. I have about 200gb of photos in the cloud so saves buying the 512gb.

Change your bank.. highly recommend Lloyds or Halifax ones, literally took minutes to get set up on a new device
It’s slightly ironic that of all my bank accounts it’s the legacy banks which made moving devices the easiest even antiquated HSBC allowed just scanning of a QR code.

All my modern banks (bar Monzo) have made the process really difficult. Starling is especially bizarre with the video authentication which then takes some while to be reviewed - Monzo was instant.
Chase still have no fix for the iPhone 14 authentication issues - I mean, it’s not like the iPhone 14 was a surprise. It’s proper amateur hour with them, although by all accounts they had a complete systems meltdown yesterday anyway…

I opted to do a clean setup. iCloud data pulled down successfully and apps without iCloud data were set up manually. This took up most of my day but it was worth it as I've managed to recover 20GB+ of storage space and I now have a lean base to build on - my previous backup has been incremented upon since the OG 2007 release!

This is interesting, thanks.

I’ve gone down to a 128GB this year, as I’m happy to offload to iCloud, but I’m now thinking of setting up as new and not downloading apps that I think I could live without.

My main worry is my MS Authenticator app, as I have quite a few entries in that and in no way would I want to lose that access. 👀

Monzo is great but their customer service is glacially slow. I'm talking days to respond nowadays, rather than hours - or instant live chat as it was a few years back.

However, as it's so good you rarely need it - but when you do, it's frustrating.
Agreed. They’ve been especially frustrating to deal with. I prefer Starling to them these days

Morning all - still having a mare with EE eSim… Been on live chat and they’ve said that they’ve activated it so just waiting now. They’ve deactivated the sim in my old phone already. Flying to America in 2.5 hours so hoping it’s all sorted before then!!
Has it?

1 hour before departure - still not activated.
If it doesn’t work when I land then I’ll be ringing EE to complain

Halifax I just re logged into the app.

Honestly cannot fault Halifax at all for their service over the many years with them.

I remain loyal and keep the £2.71 I have left in my account for them to earn some money off

Been thinking of switching banks for a while but all the app stories puts me off.

Currently with NatWest and after a iPhone transfer all I need to do is log in again using customer ref, pin and password. As easy as that.
NatWest’s app is at least on a par with all the modern banks. They offer the same features and functionality including the real time notifications these days
