Just got the “I’m sorry we can’t connect to an operator” message. Just going to keep clicking try again.

It’s probably one guy doing the whole of UK, poor guy xD

Oooh I have 3 ticks now. How’s yours doing?

I thought I would switch AOD off given that I have an Apple Watch. However I still have it on and am mostly liking it so far. I’m using the default wallpaper that came on the space black and tbh I don’t find it too bright at all. I haven’t added any widgets to the lock screen as they all seem a bit pointless to me so it’s just plain and dim. Works well. I like that you can swipe up and unlock straight from the AOD without waking it up first. Good when it’s on a desk

Apple might think that as the UK voted for Brexit, we don't want to be treated the same as the rest of Europe. They could make us a special case !!!
I don't think they would. Presumably the mobile tech used across UK and Europe is very similar., if not the same.

K .. one or two things:

1) thanks for the thread Jinjin … awesome as usual (hope Dino can get back for next year though!)
2) AOD to only get it to switch off using sleep focus was annoying .. just worked out that it’ll go off if you pop to low power mode so will just grab that from control centre when I put the phone down to charge at night
3) loving the series 8 watch! Coming from series 6 I was fairly sure I’d send it back when it arrived but, at my age, the extra screen space with the smaller bezels actually makes quite a difference!
4) All apps and stuff switched over fine except NordPass just had a black screen. Had to delete and re-download and it’s been fine since.

See you all next year .. or on the iPad arrival thread if/when it ever happens!!

I’ve not put it on sleep focus. When I put it on my MagSafe charger last night, aod never came on!

Okay two minutes later, after clicking retry, it did it! All done within 15 or so minutes at the musicMagpie SMARTDrop Kiosk.

Though now it seems like I entered my bank details in wrong and the payment bounced!! FFS. Anybody got a number I can call?

I have the same email my payment has bounced I just re entered my bank details and spoke to them on live chat they said they would try re issue the payment the next working day.

Does anyone feel that their 14PM battery is poor? Do you reckon it’s the AOD? My battery is currently 86% with one 1hr 15mins use on socials/internet? Took it off charge at 8am.

my 13pm was off charge at about 7:15am with heavy use throughout the day and I go to bed around midnight with between 65-70% battery
I was thinking the same. It’s been unplugged since 9am and I’m down to 55% with little use. I think it’s because it’s new and probably doing background tasks/indexing etc

Perfect, just tried that number, all sorted in 13 minutes. She pushed through the payment to a different bank account while on the phone (didn't give her the details just updated on the website) - though it hasn't shown just yet but she said it would take a working day, so expect it Tuesday now.

Thanks buddy!

Let us know when you receive your payment please. It’s is strange that mine bounced as well.

Now imagine that you are travelling on holiday to a foreign country… You are stuck with an e-sim only iPhone.
You don't speak the local language very well, you have no local ID, you have no local bank account…

Using your UK provider would cost you around £100/MB…

What could go wrong?

I'm keeping a phone with a physical sim for quite a few years yet.
To be fair, eSIMs are actually quite good for travelling. There are a few apps (e.g. Airalo) on the App Store where you can buy local eSIMs with a pre-set amount of data in advance, and activate once you're there - makes the whole process pretty seamless.
