Boom iPhone 14 Pro Max returned and iPhone 14 Pro collected. Only travelled 150 miles to sort it.

Manchester to Gateshead!!!

Although we have a happy wife as we now get a night away!!

People using stuff like Authy and Microsoft authenticator, iCloud Keychain supports 2FA codes since iOS 15. I moved over from 1Password for everything and it’s just a lot more seamless and no worries about how to move my 2FA codes over.
I think I’m going to do this too.

Did you migrate from 1Password (I.E transfer everything over via some kind of export/import), or did you just start again in iOS?

Did you get a quote from EE for their insurance including AppleCare? It says from £9.49 and the new cover for the 14 has gone up to £12.49 including theft and loss
No. You have to call up, which is annoying. I can’t really be bothered to speak to them. It’ll probably be the same price as AppleCare+ I’d imagine.

Hehehe … I like the way your wife works .. have a great night and glad you got the phone sorted!

Seeing people move over to esim over the last week I almost did the same but glad I stuck with normal sim given the mess esim seems to be in the uk at the moment. Will take a bit longer before apple can ditch the sim here
I did the phone to phone setup and chose to convert my old SIM card to an eSIM, it seemed to work fine but I still have a couple of problems.

To begin with I could only get 4G not 5G reception, and no WiFi Calling. I did a Network Settings reset and I then got 5G for a while until it disappeared again. I did another Network Settings reset and I now seem to have steady 5G reception. Still no WiFi calling though.

I still don't have the 5G data menu in Settings/Mobile Data/Mobile Data Options, and I don't have the WiFi calling menu in Settings/Phone, so I think there's something wrong with the eSIM.

When I set up my wife's phone I refused everything to do with eSIMs and just transferred the physical SIM card over, no problems there. I had also applied iOS 16.0.1 to both phones before setting them up. Given the tales above about having to wait for replacement eSIMs to be activated I might wait until after the bank holiday and initial rush before calling EE to try to sort it.

My eldest turns 8 soon, but to be honest there’s no way she’s getting an iPhone until she’s mature enough to look after it. That and she currently has no requirement for a phone, she has an iPad for all her schoolwork ‘ Disney + requirements.
Mine were both given phones when starting senior school so 11th Birthday gifts, they had ipad mini’s before that though. Never had an issue with boundaries or being respectful of the value of the devices, and screen time works a treat for limiting brain cell destroying exposure to social media …

In other news … the 5G (EE) on my shiny new 14Pro is significantly faster than my 13Pro! 235mbps versus about 150mbps!
Interesting, no difference here. 620mbps inside the house with both the 12 (regular) and 14 Pro on EE.

Well... when I took my phone to apply my screen protector, I saw a dent on the casing.

After a call to Apple, they are going to exchange it. I received a mail from them explaining that a driver from UPS is going to come take the phone and send it back, and then, Apple will send me a new one.

I'm afraid to give my phone to a driver and it gets lost. What are your advices to make this painful experience smooth ? Have you already return something to Apple via UPS or another company?

(I received a second mail thanking me for my order and stating that my phone is going to be sent... 18-25 Oct ! Apple employee told me before we hung up that Ithey'll send the new phone as soon as UPS scans it, but mail says otherwise... Hope employee is right o_O)

Thanks !
