Anyone manage to get a phone from the store today? No preorder, just log on the app and reserve? No where’s been in stock all day and I check almost every 15 mins lol

I’m hearing he abstained this year. I think he needs us to break his will. He’s probably also happy he’s saved a bundle by getting kick out of here

True!

okay conclusions… max deffo… but purple lol 🤣

Din in disguise??

Yo All Dads ...
When is the right age to get your kid an iPhone.

My one and only child turns 7 on Halloween. Thinking of getting him one lol.

But his mother is totally against it.

Personally I feel 7 is a bit young for the potential social media exposure etc. may just be me though.

I have a 4.5 year old who’s very proficient with an iPad though 😂

I’m torn about the smaller size of this phone…. It’s nicer in the pocket etc however I miss the screen real estate a bit .. also the smaller phone fits in the cars wireless charger whereas the max doesn’t

My eldest turns 8 soon, but to be honest there’s no way she’s getting an iPhone until she’s mature enough to look after it. That and she currently has no requirement for a phone, she has an iPad for all her schoolwork ‘ Disney + requirements.

This is interesting, thanks.

I’ve gone down to a 128GB this year, as I’m happy to offload to iCloud, but I’m now thinking of setting up as new and not downloading apps that I think I could live without.

My main worry is my MS Authenticator app, as I have quite a few entries in that and in no way would I want to lose that access. 👀
Most of it was due to iOS' "other" data I think. All that cruft that iOS is supposed to purge, but doesn't. A new install feels like too much every year, but every other year feels like manageable housekeeping.

Does anyone feel that their 14PM battery is poor? Do you reckon it’s the AOD? My battery is currently 86% with one 1hr 15mins use on socials/internet? Took it off charge at 8am.

my 13pm was off charge at about 7:15am with heavy use throughout the day and I go to bed around midnight with between 65-70% battery

I've not been following this release really. Is the iPhone 14 Pro Max readily available to walk in and pick up from most Apple stores (London), or other retailers? Picking up from the store is currently not available in any of the London branches though I'm wondering what the situation is if you just walk into the store.

Any Londoners care to comment on their purchase experience in-store?

I’m on iOS 16.1 beta and my battery doesn’t seem great. I’m hoping it’s just the beta that’s causing that. I can’t imagine AOD having that much of an impact.

Most other retailers don’t have any stock left. If there isn’t anything to reserve and pick up I doubt they’ll have stock for walk ins.

Of course the AOD will impact battery life. Hopefully not by much but it's certainly going to.

Gotta thank all the people using eSIMs before you NEED to because you’re the ones that will help the networks get their act together about this.

And then when Apple moves to eSIM for the UK too, we’ll hopefully be in a better position and silly things like waiting for them to arrive in the post doesn’t happen anymore 😳 can’t believe that when I read it 😂

One thing that will be a ball-ache will be moving back to a non-eSIM phone every year during the upgrade period…

To put it another way, you used 14% of your battery in 7 hours. That doesn't sound too catastrophic to me 😀. The first few days are always a bit weird anyway as it does a bit of housekeeping in the background for photo libraries and stuff.

Sent my 13PM to music magpie today using Royal Mail. today is day 11 since I checked out so I hope thats enough time to for it to get to them before the 21 days. But it’s kind of tough luck anyway as I couldn’t post it any sooner and I can’t get to an Asda. So I’ll get what I get!

Oh heavens above. Thanks for posting about MS. I’d have needed it for work Monday, sorry, Tuesday as Queens funeral. I’d forgotten all about it.
I have iCloud backup selected in the settings for Authenticator, and it pulled everything across, Work SSO, Sony (for Playstation) Government Gateway, Microsoft, Nvidia - all working fine. Don't know if you had that selected, but it might be handy for the future if you didn't.

It’ll get there in time. It’ll be marked as delivered mid week probably, but they won’t get it until a few days later. Once it’s marked as delivered by RM you don’t need to worry about the cut off.

Went Lakeside Apple Store (not iPhone related), they need more staff & air conditioning. It’s crazy in there.
Leeds was the same this morning. Stifling in there. Apparently they’d scaled back staffing somewhat due to the pickup nature of launch but it’s just a constant stream of people.

Apparently they were only permitted to play music again today as they don’t want to been seen as celebrating launch too much with the Queen’s funeral on Monday

Esim in the post?

That’s it, I’m not touching them until Apple force me to!
O2 really are shoddy. After years with them I've gone Sim only and bought direct from Apple. I went online to try and pay off the remaining balance for the phone I sold to MM. That can't be don't online. I had to phone up, wait, talk to 1 person, get passed to a retentions person, go through the spiel they gave me about being a valued customer etc, could anyone else use the sim etc etc, and then eventually make the payment. They asked why I wasn't upgrading with them, so I explained that I was fed up with exactly the kind of clunky, time consuming processes I was experiencing at that very moment.

Not available, stores don’t stock surplus this year it’s pretty much a lottery everyday to check and see or join the online shipping queue I’m afraid. Currently doing the same myself due to swapping out my model I got delivered yesterday

Doesn’t seem too bad when you put it like that but compared to my usual usage it seems pretty poor when I’ve ony physically used it for just over an hour today.
