My quick take on the Ultra having had it since 08:30 this morning:

The weight - even with the alpine strap it weighs more than my Stainless Steel S6
The screen - absolutely glorious
The design - superb in the hand, it really is a quality bit of kit and I can't wait to abuse it
The size - I have a 175mm wrist and it just about covers my wrist completely, any slimmer and you will have overhang

Can't wait to have a proper fiddle with complications and screen later on.

Oh and the alpine green strap is much lighter than I thought it would be so order placed for the black loop everyone else is waiting for.4A31C5B8-774D-4DBD-BE04-F69844793EE7.jpeg

So here's one for you folks - I've just noticed that my wife's 14 Pro's AOD is brighter than my 14 Pro Max's AOD... It's slight but it's deffo noticeable.

Any thoughts? I compared on various levels of screen brightness and checked the font and colour of the clock. True Tone and Night Shift off on both phones. Anything else I'm missing?
I noticed this too on the two PM's I received last week. The Silver PM AOD is slightly brighter than the Space Black. I think it relates to the panels themselves as on comparing the silver has a slightly brighter panel overall at the same brightness than the space black. I'm guessing the AOD is just the minimum brightness so there will be variations based on panels. I also noticed than both screens are warmer than my 13PM with the silver have a more of a red tint to it too. Anybody else notice this?

On a seperate matter, I managed to bag a Watch Ultra which was delivered from my local store this morning (couldn't collect as I have to wait in for other deliveries today. Had to get the starlight alpine strap as the one I wanted (trail loop) isn't available so thought I'd get this and then the strap later. I have also attached my leather loop strap from my series 5 and it looks okay.

Just setting up my Ultra - there's a prompt in the setup that asks to set up a data plan, it then takes you to the EE splash screens, selecting "replace" prompts you to call in.

Can't really help with your question but wanted to say that I don't see the point in having a data plan on a Watch.

I had a data plan on my old S4 watch but found that 99.99% of the time, I always had my phone with me when also wearing the watch so the plan was a little pointless.

Now that I have a S7 watch (with no plan), I don't miss not having a data plan at all - the only thing it does is allows you take phone calls without your phone anyway, and realistically, who would even do that?!!

I use my watch to track running as well and even without a data plan, it can still track the route of your run, even when you do not carry your phone on your run (which I don't).
99.9% of the time I don’t need a data plan on my watch as I normally have my phone with me but I do have one active in case of emergencies. When I run I don’t take my phone so it’s nice to know that if I trip and break an ankle or something then I could call for help. Likewise I sometimes walk the dog without my phone and again it’s peace of mind to know that I could still contact someone in case of emergency. I do wish the data plan was cheaper though given that I don’t really need it but I’ve decided to still pay for it for the peace of mind despite that

Just went for a quick 30 minute run using it, doesn't feel any different to the SS S6 I've come from.
I think that's it... if your primary use case is for fitness and all the rest features the ultra brings, then its a great watch.

mine is more on the casual side of things with a sprinkle of workout (and maybe sleep tracking)..

I think you know if this is the watch for you!

Good luck! My wife got her watch replaced a few months ago and it took a good few phone calls to get the plan setup on the new watch again. Couldn't get through to the right person who knew how to properly transfer the plan.

I have this fun to come later on too when I set up my ultra...

I am no where near a fitness freak, gym 3 times a week and I like going for a run when I feel like it. I was slightly concerned about the size difference, but nothing to worry about. It's great.

It's sorted. I called in, said I was calling about the data plan on my new Apple Watch, he passed me through to someone else, he asked for the EID in the settings, told me to wait 5 minutes and go through the "add plan" process again on the Watch App. It picked it up straight away.

Had zero issues transferring the data over from EE this time around. I had terrible trouble last time around coming from the S4 to S6. Many many many calls to EE to get things fixed.

You’re probably right about the panels difference. During the day it’s not too different but at night and in a dark room it’s deffo noticeable.
