So what are peoples thoughts on the phone now they've had them a good week or so?

Meh. I went from a 13 Pro Max to a 14 Pro Max and it really doesn't feel like an upgrade. The silly island thing intrudes more into apps than the notch - I am always more aware of it than I was the notch. If there were a comparable phone from another manufacturer I'd be returning it. Unfortunately there isn't.

I’m along this line

It’s definitely a meh upgrade! The 48mp is a gimmick for the average Joe who doesn’t do editing.

Apart from that it really feels incremental. But I’m a mug who can’t help wasting his money so what ya gonna do

Really want/need eSim but can’t justify going on EE with their current prices. Especially when I am paying £10 a month for unlimited data on Voxi.
I currently pay £27 for 200GB and BT Sport to EE. But I’m struggling to justify that now when I could get enough data from 3 for less than half the cost.

Been with EE on and off since I worked for Orange back at the start of the Millennium, but they’re just too pricy in the current climate.

Black Friday has always been a semi decent time to switch I’ve found

Anyone else see that when they use AOD, the Lock Screen image seems to shrink/be smaller when AOD is on.

Also, I sometimes get a halo effect when AOD is displaying where it shows the normal Lock Screen image, so everything looks doubled (like when you take 3D glasses off).

For those that say it is a small upgrade from last years I agree. However, I believe now that the iPhone is such a mature product with so many previous generations that this will always be the case.

Early on they had to give you a wow factor as people upgraded every year. Now (lol not on here - an Apple enthusiast site), I think is it split like this:

Apple Fanatics/MacRumours forum:
Every year

Tech Lovers:
Every two years

Everyone else:
Every 3,4 or 5 years/hand me downs from people in above.

Personally I used to be in the annual upgrade, now I am trying (it’s hard lol) to upgrade every 2 years with alternating years for Watch and phone. I feel I have upgraded, but don’t have the wow that those coming from an iPhone X or previous feel. I have a S7 AW and it didn’t even cross my mind to go with an 8.

The watch/phone market is established now so I thing we will always get evolution, along with he occasional revolution.

That said, gone from a IP12P to IP14P and love it!

Maybe you should have kept the 13 Pro Max.

I agree with what you said. Will be giving my current 12 PM to a family member once the 14 PM is delivered. Mum is using iPhone X currently so it will be an upgrade for her.

Had AW Series 2 until I upgraded to Series 7 in the summer. Tempted to get Series 8 but not as yet!

I justify it to my other half by pointing out the amount of deliveries I take in for her every day lol (I WFH she doesn’t). That silences her.

Oh and the fact I take in the deliveries so can hide them :D

I remember someone here earlier saying that when they checked their phone in the morning the brightness was all the way down to zero. My 14 Pro Max was fine until yesterday. I noticed yesterday morning and again this morning that the same had happened on my phone. I don’t know if a cause and a solution was found for that or not. It’s more annoying then anything else.

How are you getting 30% off?

And to top it you have CPI/RPI. They raised their prices last month at such a bad time in the economy.
