At last got my hands on 14 pro in deep purple for the wife for Christmas

Ref phone getting hot while on charge, I am now using the barebone 5w USB A Apple charger rather than the USB C iPad Pro one and phone doesn’t get hot, with caveat that it takes twice the amount of time to get to 100% charge, circa 4hrs from 20%.

As I have a PM with majestic battery life, I think I can live with that, I charge it every 3 day and I am happier knowing the battery won’t deteriorate due to overheating.

Can’t believe Apple doesn’t care and put their customer phone under this treat of deterioration when using a 20W charger, it’s too quick to charge but phone gets too hot.

Hi everyone, been a while since i last posted but I'm thrilled this thread is still relatively active!

I need some advice. My sister is getting a 14 Plus for Christmas and I'm helping her set it up on Boxing Day, I'll also be giving her my old Apple Watch series 6. She currently has an 11 Pro Max and a cellular Series 4 on O2.

Is there anything I need to bare in mind doing wired data transfer? more particularly in respect of the watch and whether an O2 plan moves straight over. Should I unpair it from her existing phone first, or allow the data transfer to move it over along with the phone data?

This is quite possibly a silly question... but this is coming from someone on EE who KNOWS that transferring a watch plan to a new watch and phone is an almighty faff! 🤣 - I'm hoping O2 is smoother... 🤞
For the watch on O2, it was pretty straightforward for me and required no input from the network when it worked!

Personally from past experience with O2 (see below anecdote), I would get the watch side of things sorted first before moving on to the phone. In other words, unpair the Series 4 from the iPhone 11 Pro Max, then pair the Series 6 with the 11 Pro Max.

This is all from memory regarding the data setup, so the wording isn't 100%:

  1. Remove the data plan from the Series 4 as part of the unpairing process with the 11 Pro Max
  2. Choose "keep data plan" or words to that effect - you want to maintain the agreement
  3. Pair the Series 6 with the 11 Pro Max, go through the motions to add the plan
  4. Choose "use existing data plan" or words to that effect
  5. Complete pairing
Fingers crossed it works for you. If everything works as it should, you're then safe to migrate from the 11 Pro Max to the 14 Plus and the watch should move across as part of the process

My anecdotal experience:

There are numerous reported issues online about cellular watches and O2. I actually left O2 as they pretty much refused to help me any further/didn't know how to help me trying to get my watch reconnected to their network. I even worked with Apple and EE and we proved it was entirely O2's issue - there was nothing wrong with the hardware and we were able to connect my watch to another network without issue.

I ordered an iPhone 14 Pro 128GB from Apple on 8th Dec. Initially the delivery date was 4th Jan. Yesterday afternoon I got a notification that it was preparing to ship. This morning it went to dispatched, delivery on 23rd Dec. This afternoon I got a tracking number with a delivery date of tomorrow- 22nd Dec.

Amazing what can happen in just one day. And an iPhone Pro ordered in December arriving before Christmas when I thought that there was little hope. So not all bad!

Yes, I’ve got it and on time. Never noticed any import/customs. The first time it showed on tracking it was in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Happy New Year to you as well.

I think we should ban talk of 15 until we can start new thread. Last year some of the useful info got lost in them banned threads.

And yes 14 pro is old news now. Ive already set aside funds to clear both our 14 pro contracts for when the time comes. Which accordingly to my calculations will be in the region of £900 - £1000 lol.

Music Magpie needs to up their game and give us good valuation and a decent promo code lol.

Morning all and a happy new year.

Not much to report, other than I got myself a new, slim, MagSafe case: https://amzn.eu/d/ibVVQCi

I really like it, it almost feels caseless.
Happy new year mate!

The case looks very nice and slim, enjoy!

So, I now have my 14 promax, and I’m loving it compared to the pro! Yes, it is heavier in my hands, but the battery life is just superior! Think I will definitely stick with a max phone from now on! :)

Must admit I think I’m going to stick to the Pro Max model from now on.

Will see what the 15 variant offers (compared to my 13PM) but the screen size/battery life is worth the weight!

Quick question - I could do with a bigger iPad pro (I’m old and reading music on the 11” is getting harder to do!)
I‘ll basically just use it for that so need 128GB - went to CEX and they have cellular 6th gen for about £800 A quality! Apple are selling the exact same (pretty much) for £1400!
apart from possible battery life reduction am I missing something or shall I just hit buy?!?!
