I have just gotten the iPhone 14 Pro Max 256gb on contract from EE.
Do you guys recommend Apple Care Plus Theft and Loss (I think the theft and loss insurance is with AIG, whilst breakdowns are directly with Apple), or mobile insurance with a bank like Nationwide/Natwest.
Has anyone had experience with any mobile phone insurance providers. I know sometimes it can be difficult to make claims etc...

The iPhone is so expensive that I want to take insurance this time since I will be having the phone for 3 years at least and I can't easily just fork out £1k+ for a new iPhone if I were to lose it..
you thought about taking one out with EE? think it's fairly similar monthly cost as apple.

I've got it on my iPhone; bought outright via Amazon.

House insurance probably covers it; but haven't read the fine print. I bank with Monzo Premium and have insurance included in that

But for me, paying it monthly via Applecare makes sense; like you said, it's a c£1300 phone, so it's solid peace of mind!

My phone is covered by my home insurance. In fact, I was mugged at the start of 2021 and my phone was taken. My home insurance paid out the full value. I didn't even need to submit a police report or case number (which the police actually said they couldn't give me anyway), just the receipt for the phone.

Exactly. I will be keeping this phone for 3 years so it makes sense to get insurance. Whilst I have never lost a phone, my sister had her phone stolen whilst on the Tube and she never had insurance so she has to buy another iPhone 14 Pro. She regretted not having the insurance.

I live with my parents and phones are not covered by home insurance for some reason.

nothing from YouTube here but assume its just a matter of time now
Looks like it only impacts you if you were paying by a VISA card. Mastercard is alright still.

I never got the email either but my mate did; his OG Revolut is still VISA while my card which was renewed a few years ago changed to Mastercard.

Makes sense - have heard nothing and pay by mastercard.

If you go through Apple for a claim, you know it will be straightforward. Claiming from the bank may insist on you jumping through certain hoops before they'll pay out.

The last time (a good few years ago now) I had to make a claim on my non-Apple insurance (through bank) it was for a smashed screen. The issue was they never used genuine parts to replace it and it was never the same. Also had to send the phone off and wait for it to come back.

At least with Apple care I wouldn’t face that

I was out of contract with EE and retentions offered me a good deal, but they neglected to tell me that my new speeds would be limited to 100mbps and I get much less than that.

What networks are good in London, that’s not EE? I’m considering O2 but the increase this April has me not committing yet… maybe Lebara?

I think most people say

1.EE
2.Vodafone
3. O2
4. Three

For the last couple of years I have tried all the major networks on a Sim Only deal and I found EE to be the best. I also live in London and there were certain places where I did not get good speeds/signal with Vodafone. However. I can't think of a place I have been so far with EE where I couldn't connect to the internet/load a webpage. I have to admit with EE, you do get what you pay for but they are very expensive.
I took out my 14PM on a 2 year contract with EE but I got 20% discount (work for the NHS) and with the free Apple Music for 2 years (which I would otherwise pay £9.99 for monthly) it made sense as I normally avoid phone contracts as they usually work out more expensive.

Avoid Three whatever you do, they are bad imo. If you are in a good 5G area you can get fantastic speeds but their 4G is terrible. You will have full bars on your iPhone but you can't even load a webpage.

had three on a 12 month deal and i have paid it off as speed was just bad. i have 3 EE sims now.

My 14 pro max and pixel 7 pro contracts on annual upgrades and my fold 4 on a sim only deal. the 14% increase isn't great so will be paying like £12 a month more now

I might be stuck with EE, unless there’s an MVNO that runs off EE?
Three’s performance in London is just bad.

I’m assessing that £32 out of contract tariff with unlimited data etc, but retentions should have made it clear that the speed was limited.

1p Mobile, runs on EE and offers all the network features except Visual Voicemail, so 5G, volte and vowifi, speeds are uncapped.

Not sure what allowance you'd be wanting but they offer £10 for 10GB and £15 for 50GB.

www.1pmobile.com/

Good UK customer service as well.

Anyone know if apple are planning to release a spring refresh of new Apple silicone cases etc. for the 14 pro? Think they did it mid February last year. Itching to get some more cases! 😂

Me too. My orange leather case is looking a bit tatty.

Thanks guys. All this talk of AppleCare up above has jinxed me. Dropped my iPhone 14P yesterday in the kitchen and cracked the rear screen. It is the first cracked screen/back I have had since the original iPhone in 2007!

Just ordered a replacement through AC+. Anyone used express replacement before? They have taken the charge on my card and sending a new one - is it as straightforward as that it is there more to it?

It’s a very good service. As soon as they receive your old phone, they cancel the hold on your card.

Yeah it’s very good. They literally send a phone (normally with UPS), you pop your old one in the box your new one came in and send it back. From memory you either arrange a collection or drop it off at a ups service point.

Currently opted for O2 since it gets me their Wi-Fi on the underground and hotspots elsewhere. Vodafone doesn’t offer this right ?
