What model are you getting?

Those locking in their current iPhones, are you intending to keep updating the offer (I am referring to the Music Magpie offer (£800 for 14 Pro Max)) until you receive the new 15, or selling and using another phone in-between?

So this year I have a dilemma.

I am not kidding myself I am going to pre order the iPhone 15 Pro Max (if that is it's name)

But I have a £400 Curry's voucher burning a hole in my pocket and I'm tempted to go there instead of direct with Apple this year. Trouble is I have heard horror stories from the past couple of years of them not delivering on pre orders.
Do.not.ever.buy.anything.from.Currys.

You WILL regret it.

Battery health dropped to 99% finally… it’s another sign to upgrade next month

Just read that - does sound a nightmare.

I recently had my phone replaced under AppleCare + and as it was an express replacement I did the transfer etc then sent the phone back. Flawless.

My wife recently acquired my US daughter's iPhone 14 Pro (no sim tray), so I converted her sim to eSim on her iPhone 12 Pro, then did the transfer. Again flawless.

EE by the way.

I have a feeling the SIM tray may go this year. All the major (and minor) UK carriers now offer eSims.
There is only 1 MVNO that offers eSim (Lyca Mobile). None of the others are offering eSIM yet - GiffGaff, Smarty, Voxi, Tesco, Asda, Sky. There is no way the SIM tray will go this year for the UK market.

The MVNO networks still see eSIM as a luxury, what I don't think they have factored is they can get people joining a lot easier, albeit, it means people can leave a lot easier as well. I also think it is the Host MNOs that is restricting the MVNOs from having access to the technology.

How many on here are on eSims? Myself and my better half are now.

Be interesting to see.

I have been using an eSIM with EE for a few years now and it has worked fine.

I got the AWU last year and it is the first time I had a watch data plan. It will be interesting to see this year if everything moves over smoothly as I will might upgrade my watch as well.

Last year when moving eSIM to new phone there was no issue at all.

hello again, I hope you are all well

it's getting closer to 'that time of the year again' ... Music Magpie offering £725 for my 14 Pro 256, so it can't hurt to keep the basket rolling two or three times just in case? 🤔

£1,309 (?) for a new 15PM 256 - £725 trade-in for 14P 256 = £584 total / £48 pcm to upgrade this year. Plus a case & screen protectors. Hmmm.

EE I believe are the only ones using Apples Quick Transfer although as long as you have access to your old device you just get a new QR code and activate via text.

Out of interest, could you have achieved the transfer if your outgoing phone was dead and didn’t turn on?

Or…could the move to a tray-less iPhone force their hands to offer eSIMs? 👀

What is wrong with me??

I had some gift voucher credit on Amazon from switch to Vodafone broadband at howe, so decided to spend it on some vinyl records for my collection, but then, whoops, before you know it I’ve ordered a case for my 11 month old iPhone 14PM. 🤦‍♂️

Could do but I would have thought the networks would know this by now.

Especially for the likes of Voxi, Smarty, GiffGaff which are MVNOs owned by MNOs.

Can you imagine iPhone 15 launches on 22 September it is eSim only.

So now Sky, Tesco, the ones mentioned above and countless others now can’t really sell the phone. I just can’t see it this year.

I wonder (I have no knowledge) if, seeing as all the actual networks have the ability to offer eSIMs, there isn’t a technically simple way to transfer that ability over?

Like I said, I have no idea whatsoever what is required to be installed/implemented to be able to offer eSIMs.
