With MM changing it’s condition statuses and this UR seeming potentially dodgy, I’m tempted to take my phone to carphone warehouse and doing it in store to avoid any of this. I used to do it this way years ago. Prices weren’t too bad if I recall.

Did this last year with Carphone Warehouse and it was super easy, I think last year they were offering near close to MM's offer, this year seems quite a bit less unfortunately.

Those that have used the kiosks before, what’s the actual setup like? Do you place your phone inside a box while they view it? I guess what I’m trying to ask is, is there any chance the phone could get damaged by moving parts inside the kiosk?
It seems 50/50 bad and good experiences. I had a pretty crap experience last year, the kiosk telling me to wait and then 20 minutes later telling me it had failed, after 3 goes at this stood around in Asda I gave up!

Really hope the Apple Watch Ultra gets a few more watch band options or colours this year. Would really like an Alpine Loop in black, blue or midnight.

Thanks. Yeah, I think my plan is to try the kiosk and see if I can get the “excellent” prices I’ve got locked in first.
If they say they’re not up to scratch (pun intended), then I’ll just go to carphone warehouse. It’ll be less money but they even say they don’t mind light wear and tear.

There will be so many people who go back to a series “X” watch when it comes out. People will want the latest look and there’ll be a lot of “oh, the ultra was just too big” or “I hardly use any of the ultra features anyway”

I can’t see the ultra being remodelled for a long while yet given how long the current Apple Watches look.

The resale values of the watches if awful compared to iPhones… for example MM will give £200 for a graphite 45mm stainless steel which would cost £779 to buy right now! Yep I’d get more selling privately but the drop on a Hermes would be far greater too.

Watches are defo not for yearly turn over for me given the massive depreciation on them
I very agree the price reselling a Apple Watch is shocking some places offered me £50 - £60 for my Watch SE 2022 only paid £190 brand new on eBay going to keep for spare.

Those scratches could well be classed as cosmetic and not fall under AC+.
Of course, the phone will need to have an 'accident' in order for me to get the screen replaced.

The other option is to use Apple Express replacement service where they send out a replacement phone and you have i think 30 days to send the old one back. It costs about £105 but the phone will need to have at least the back glass broken to qualify for this service.

A lot of faffing around just to hope you get the best price for your phone from UR/MM

Think it is dependent on a few things - country, type of card used and bank used.

FWIW I live in Argentina (😉), use my mastercard debit from Chase bank.
I moved to Turkey after Argentina had a cost of living crisis. I get Family membership of YTP for £1.84 per month. Paid with a Chase Mastercard too.

Love it!

What experience do people have with music magpie kiosk? I got a 720 offer for my phone after assessment they offered 500 and then after another one 220, I’m pretty surprised at how low they offered, it’s in good condition.

Going to take it home and properly clean it see if that makes a difference. If not I guess I’ll be selling it private!

I got the online quoted price at the kiosk last year.

That’s shocking!

I had a poor experience with the SMARTDrop kiosk initially, last year. It downgraded an immaculate iPhone 12 Pro Max very significantly. I took the phone back and tried a SMARTDrop kiosk in a different town. That one was a different story and paid the full valuation within 15 minutes or so.

Tip: Make sure your phone is spotlessly clean and use a clean cloth to give the inspection area inside the kiosk a wipe down too. 😂

Apologies if already asked, but will trade in websites like MM etc reject your iPhone if it’s on beta software? Just packed up my phone but realised although it’s reset, it’s on ios17… the phone itself is pristine and everything works mind!

I don’t see why not? With whatever they do with the phone, they probably do a hard restore anyway

I accidentally did this before as well and it just took longer to get an answer as the testing software needed an update.

If you do go to Carphone warehouse and already using iOS 17 you'll probably need to downgrade as their testing software didn't accept one of the phones I tried to trade in on iOS 16 beta last year. If you're still on iOS 16 you're all good!

Oh that’s fine, I don’t go on to the betas anymore these days. Like to make launch day feel even more exciting 🤩

Had an express replacement a few months ago and its 10 days to return the old phone back.

lol no. What I meant is you are better off buying on 0% then selling as you haven’t paid out the whole lot up front.

Off Topic: impressed with Wednesday this year - I’ve been a Saints fan for over 45 years (it’s aged me) and we were lucky to come away with 3 points on the first game of the season.
We have gone rapidly downhill and don’t look like a team that’s ready for the relegation fight finally got our first point last weekend so hopefully we are on the up!
