Btw people going for a replacement through Apple care to then trade in the phone, would you not be better cancelling the Apple care and getting the refund?

I pay monthly so for me no, but I'm not going to go to the extent of damaging my phone to get it replaced. Not worth the hassle.

So I am planning to pass my 14 Pro over to my daughter once I have the 15 Pro.
As my battery is not in the best condition, it might worth getting a full replacement.
Do I understand right, that it will cost me £105 using Apple Care and have to accidentally break the back glass?

Has anyone had experiance with using apples trade in? They’re offering 380 for my iPhone 12 Pro Max which is only slightly less than MM. T

Why not just pay less and get Apple to replace the battery

We can replace your iPhone battery for a service fee. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use. Your iPhone is eligible for a battery replacement at no additional cost if you have AppleCare+ and your product’s battery holds less than 80 per cent of its original capacity.Your iPhone is eligible for a battery replacement at no additional cost if you have AppleCare+ and your product's battery holds less than 80 per cent of its original capacity.

If I get my phone back from UR in the condition I sent it in (fingers crossed), I think I'll use MM or go through with the FB marketplace offers I had. I just hope I don't run into any issues with UR arranging the return tomorrow.

It is still over 80% and I thought if I will be charged anyway, I might as well get a whole new phone for her, but yeah, a battery replacement would work as well.

So what has everyone been doing regarding the whole MM thing.
Do I now submit my £800 order or the current value of £720. I’m just worried if I submit the £800 they will revalue it once they receive it after launch to the newest lower price. Or at least if I submit the £720 it’s more safe it’ll stay that value? 🧐

Posting it off to them as I do every year

We are all uncertain about what will happen. It all depends on whether this is just a glitch in the system or whether we are dealing with a new, shady approach. I’m hoping that it’s the former but I’m such a cynic that I’m not ruling out the latter.

I think that the SMARTDrop kiosk is to be avoided unless your valuation is VERY recent. If I were you I’d send your phone in with the higher valuation that you have (£800) using Royal Mail Special Delivery with enhanced insurance and hope that they deal with you in a completely honest way. You can always ask them to send the phone back.

Good luck!

Thank you, yes it all seems a bit of a gamble this year…
After some deliberation I’m going to submit the newest quote of £720 as to me it makes more sense, I just know after the announcement it’s going to significantly drop and I’m more doubtful they will honour the previous save as their gradings changed.
I can’t afford to wait or loose out this year

Interesting stats:

iPhone 15 Pro Max dimensions and weight:
  • Thickness: 8.25mm
  • Length: 159.9mm
  • Width: 76.7mm
  • Weight: 221 grams
iPhone 14 Pro Max dimensions and weight:
  • Thickness: 7.85mm
  • Length: 160.7mm
  • Width: 77.6mm
  • Weight: 240 grams
So we are going thicker but slightly less in both length and width plus a fair bit lighter in weight. With the dimensions, that should make a difference with the reduced bezel too. With the weight, the 15 should be much more pocketable as a result of that weight saving.

The colours certainly haven't blown me away, but I'm thinking Titan Grey either in a light or dark shade will be a decent match for the titanium frame. Space Black too if the sides are actually black titanium, but likely not. Third party case or maybe a new dodgy fine woven if Apple nails the new material.

For the Watch Ultra, I definitely need to see whether gen 2 is worth the extra £/€ versus gen 1. Given the massive annual depreciation on watches, it is likely to make better financial sense to go for a discounted gen 1 after gen 2 launches.

Interesting smaller width too!
I don’t mind the size at all of the 14PM but agreed the lighter weight is welcome

Yes it’s £79 for express replacement service + excess (£25 for glass damage) you have to select back damage as front glass damage takes away the express options and asks you to book a store appointment. So £104 for a new iPhone with refurb parts.

I’m just doing the £25 glass replacement to send off to MM. my AC+ is monthly payments so I’ll just cancel the once I’ve received the funds from MM

So tomorrow we find out if we all need to go looking for contracts that have eSIM!!!!

Simsherpa is a great source of information - although their eSIM info is not entirely up to date - doesn't include Sky.
