I’m surprised you don’t just buy one monthly, the money you guys are on. 😉

OT update while we’re twiddling our thumbs…
I have successfully installed the Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro.
However, unless I’m missing something, it’s useless from the outside, as when it unlocks, it appears not to turn the key that last little bit that allows you to actually push the door open.
It certainly turns the key from locked to unlocked, but when doing it manually with a key, you have to turn the key against a bit of resistance at the end of the turn to actually move the lock (if that makes sense?).
I also had to change the lock cylinder to one that stuck out more on the inside, as the base plate couldn‘t attach to the old one.
That’s where Apple’s 2FA baked in to Keychain is your friend. Thanks, 1995 impressive!
Always tell myself that 'ill finally get a new number' after having the same for countless years, but then the whole hassle of all the 2FA's linked etc just isn't worth it
Would be nice to have a fresh number though one day
I wish!! I’m currently working on a petrol forecourt trying to get one of our car chargers working again 🤣You sparkies are minted though. 😀

Yeah it’s weird.I have a few of these locks and never had that issue with the key. I wonder if it’s a cylinder issue?
That‘s a four figure (half) day right there! 😂I wish!! I’m currently working on a petrol forecourt trying to get one of our car chargers working again 🤣
And I’ve just discovered another issue.Yeah it’s weird.
The lock operates in 2 ways - You turn the key to unlock the door, but then have to turn it a little extra (at least that’s the way I used to do it).
I must have effed something up. 🙄

It appears this new cylinder does not allow you to open the door from outside with the key, when there is a key in the lock on the inside. 😳

Maybe I’m going to have to go with the more expensive Ultion option, as that includes the Nuki smart lock and a new handle.
Still OT, how smart is your house?OT update while we’re twiddling our thumbs…

I think I get what you're saying @Azzin, that you unlock the lock with a 360 degree rotation of the key, but then you need to turn it that little bit more to work against the spring which allows the door to be opened? So effectively not like a mortice lock, like a night latch?OT update while we’re twiddling our thumbs…

We have a single room with lighting controlled on a motion sensor, and it's nearly cost me a marriage...!Still OT, how smart is your house?
Mine is 95% smart. Have Yale front door, every door has a sensor, every main room has mmWave motion sensor, others PIR motion. Every light switch is smart (so you can e the switch or use voice). I haven’t used a light switch in ages as lights come on as I wonder around and go off if too light etc. Music follows me around the house. Watching TV in the lounge, no problem, lights dim and come back up when I pause/stop watching. Ask Robovac to clean the house, say goodnight and the thermostat is set to cool, garden lights dim to 10%, security cameras activated, all appliances turned off and alarm armed.
I use something called Home Assistant as the main hub that marries together all the disjoined systems. Oh and NO CLOUD. It all works locally
Back on topic. May use my iPhone 15 to control some bits in a few weeks![]()
Found a solution to one issue. The app had our door handle configured as a Lift up Handle, but changing it to Knob or Bar resolves the “not turning key enough“ issue and the lock now does indeed vanish into the door. 👏I never had to turn the key a little extra, but hope you get it sorted.
Would also recommend their keypads, I got a few of the new version and the response time is fantastic. If I’m out for a run I would use it more than Siri on my watch as it’s a bit faster.

I’m slightly further on.
The issue I have is when I lock the door using the app, the latch doesn’t actually lock in place (so you would need a key to unlock it).
I think the days of locks which have a key on the inside are numbered...our new build has a thumb turn type thing on the inside, and, from what I've seen when researching smart locks, most have a thumb turn tooI’m slightly further on.
The locking and unlocking bit is kinda working.
The issue I have is when I lock the door using the app, the latch doesn’t actually lock in place (so you would need a key to unlock it).
Also, this new lock cylinder clearly doesn’t support unlocking with a key from outside (in case of smart lock failure), when there’s a key in the inside. 🤦🏻♂️
So I think the simplest option is to replace it with a Thumb Turn lock.
