UK iPhone 4S thread.

I'm baffled why so many people are so surprised how bad the reservation system is. It was just as bad when the iPad 2 was launched. I tried to reserve one everyday for more then a week with no luck. Even when I managed to get one allocated I got a message at the end that there were no pickup times available. Eventually I gave up. Luckily I was able to reserve one in one of the local Apple stores through a friend of a friend.
 
Well I decided against buying from vodafone. I read posts on their forums complaining about problems when trying to unlock the phone (delays, out right refusal, etc). Don't fancy being stuck with a locked phone.
 
Order status

My order status changed from "Preparing for shipment" to "Shipped" at 22:50 UK time. Doubt it will be here on Wednesday, but hoping for Thursday.

Edit: I now have a "track shipment" button for my order, but when I click it, it says the service is unavailable.

Thanks! Not sure where Apple orders for the UK ship from. Looking at the US threads, when the order tracking works, they see the device heading for the airport in China. If that's the same in the UK, I'll have a couple more days to wait. If UK orders are coming from a UK warehouse, I may be in luck.

Edit: tracking link now working, but details say "n transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly." etc. Short on detail. For reference, I ordered at 15:16 GMT on the 7th, and it is a black 64GB model.

Edit2: sorry for the frequent updates. I now have a UPS tracking number, but the UPS site doesn't recognise it yet. Literally at 22:49 my order was "preparing for shipment" and now I have a tracking number. Getting excited....

Edit3: Estimated delivery is showing as 19th October, i.e. tomorrow. Delivery arranged to work. I am leaving the office at 11am to go to IP Expo in London - may find I get unavoidably delayed if my delivery hasn't arrived!

I ordered at 15:16 GMT on the 7th. Black 64GB model.

Edit: BTW, I've not received an email from Apple yet, so suggest anyone waiting for an order to ship checks their order status as it may have moved forward. My order is saying it will deliver on 19th October "subject to change".
 
And at 23:28 UK time, I get my email from Apple. It says "delivers by 19th October". Getting a bit more hopeful now.
 
I just got a shipment notification via email saying the iPhone delivers by 19/10/2011...earlier than i expected.:D:D:D
 
Mine was preparing for shipping yesterday afternoon, still no dispatch mail and now the apple store is down?

Thanks for this - same boat really as above though really - I don't really trust vodafone.

I'm actually on vodafone anyway, but I want an unlocked iPhone for reselling down the line.
 
Anyone know who theirs is being delivered by?
Mine still say it's due today, but the assigned carrier hasn't changed from "SYNCREON PARCEL DELIVERY" :confused:
 
For those whose iPhone 4s is shipping out today, would you mind posting what is the weight of the package that is stated in the tracking number you got?

Mine says .40 kg. Does that seem right? I read a thread about a member getting just the box without the phone when UPS delivered the package to him.

I am in the same boat!

I am just hoping mine comes on the 24th cause I am going to America on the 25th so I would love my new phone to take photos and videos!

not happy!

my order from apple is still saying processing. delivery date is still 17th - 24th of oct, but they've still not taken the money out of my account! i may be over reacting but it doesn't sound right to me....

any one else in the same position?
