This sudden appearance of the reservation system seems very strange, and nowhere seems to have any stocks for pick up tomorrow anyway.....?

This wait is starting to get to me. I phoned up the Glasgow store at 11am on launch day, they had stock. Got there from Edinburgh after finishing work, at 2pm, sold out!!

I was gonna go with giffgaff sim card, but i might get the PAYG on 3 if they have stock in the shop tomorrow. But it's £15 / month on 3 PAYG? Compared to the £10 / month giffgaff package.

Or can you unlock the 3 phone straight away?

As far as I am aware you can unlock the 3 phone straight away. I'm planning to do that if apple don't have any sim free white 32GB models left.

I think everywhere started with a 'contract only' policy but some are not allowing PAYG. I might pop in tomorrow and see if I can get a 32GB. Did you have to buy a sim as well? Just wondering how much it's gonna cost to get one and get it unlocked.

No, but they will try and give you one and say it'll be £5/614.98, just politely refuse the sim if ya don't need one, if they are sitting on stock they'll let ya have it :)

Thanks. I'll go to the 3 shop first thing in the morning then. So you need to use a £15 PAYG 3 sim card so that you could switch on the phone, and call 333 to unlock? Plus £14 admin free, that is £29 in total.

exactly, they won't unlock in the shop, but you ring 333 up and they will sort it out for you for the £14. I would guess if you already have a 3 sim, then you won't have to buy one with the phone, just politely refuse it if you don't need it.

no they don't do it in store you have to ring 333, and I had to use a card to pay the admin fee, so don't buy any top up time if you don't need any, they won't use it to pay for unlocking :)

can someone please confirm that this way of getting the fone from 3 and getting it unlocked work or not? thanx

I did it myself on Monday PM, so I can confirm it works :p

If yuo have any doubts, ask the salesperson in the shop, and make sure you can return it if they are lying :)

I believe that's the service that takes Apple products from Shanghai to their 'local' distribution centre.

My built-to-order MacBook Pro came via them and eventually reached a UK distribution centre before finally being sent out for delivery. Unfortunately, this Syncreon step was also the longest leg of the journey.

I hope it does not take too long my friend is leaving on the 29th.

I have reserved one at a 3 store near me so I will pick that up if I cant get one off apple.

Odered almost a week ago and it's still processing. I think i ordered the wrong one, i ordered 32gb white and obviously it is the most demanded one isn't it?

I don't know the actual stats, but I ordered a 32gb white on the evening of the 7th and the status only just changed to Preparing for Shipment late last night, so I'd assume so.

Is the Reserve and Pickup not available in UK yet?

I'm inerested, cause I'll be in London the last week of November, and I hope to find an IPhone :D
I'd wait until nearer the time- you're not coming to the UK for over a month, by then availability should be a lot better. Its a better idea to look closer to the time you're visiting.

Reserve and pickup is available- but if you read through the posts here (I understand if thats difficult if your english isn't too good) you'll see there is a shortage of stock. From what I've read it seems that the system relies on stores feeding back what stock they have at the end of each day. You're right in thinking it should happen at 9pm (UK time) each night, but have a read through the thread- people don't seem to be having much luck.

Or maybe less people are buying them in France or Germany?

Either way, be patient and try nearer the time you're coming.

This wound me up no end. I was told 'We have contract phones but we don't want lines so you have to reserve sim free'.

Surely lines would be longer for a contract, as you've got to sign, have a credit check etc, sim free you go in, buy, leave.

You mentioned that if you know someone on contract they will unlock free. My brother is on monthly contract with them, how do I go about getting it unlocked?
