I did it myself on Monday PM, so I can confirm it works
If yuo have any doubts, ask the salesperson in the shop, and make sure you can return it if they are lying
There is apparently a £10 PAYG 3 sim card, so I could get that instead of the £15 one. Seems such a waste to get the sim card in order to switch on the phone to call them to unlock.
Or can I use a different phone to phone them up, and just tell them the iPhone's IMEI number for unlock?
My order in the last 2 hours has now changed to preparing for shipment!!!
Ordered on 9th Oct midday, 32 GB Black. Guess I'll get it on Saturday or Monday, although someone said they don't do Saturday deliveries?

I think if you already have a 3 sim from somewhere else, then you don't. I assume you can just buy the phone and tell them you already have a sim card. This is also my question, I don't have a 3 sim, so would I need to have the phone switched on (with a 3 sim), phone them up, pay £14 and unlock, or can I use a different phone to phone up to do this?
for delivery it has to get shipped first. yours is still preparing. so not before monday i think.
Tried it, they said you can only walk in and buy if you buy contract.
I've just contacted a three store and the sales guy said in order to buy PAYG it includes the £15 sim - no way around it, even though I said I'm on contract with them so wouldn't need it.
So if I could get unlocking free, I'd go for it, only £15 extra that I could give to my mum, but not paying £30 to get it two weeks earlier.
the reason being the networks make money off the contract phones but not necessarily off the PAYG ones, especially if you are unlocking it straight away for use on another network.
Persistence seems to have paid off. They will text you with an order number and then another text with a delivery slot. I managed to get in at 8.30am on Friday so was one of the first. At the time they asked if I wanted to upgrade all my lines. said no thanks and only did 2. Now can't get rid of 1 as wife didn't want hers.

Yodel are ok, depending on where you live they try and do before 12pm, saying that mine arrived 2 hours later than that, guy said he had done over 30 that morning.
Same with them, they get a small slice of the pie from whatever network its connected to.

All is not well. I forgot to 'sim swap' and ran out of time and had to get back to work. So while everything transfered over from an iCloud back up (which was pretty cool) I messed up thinking I could just bung in the new sim. So its sat at home now waiting to be activated.

I presume its locked to 3. But i am a 3 contract customer anyway so i will just put in my 3 contract sim and get rid of the payg sim. I have a 3 iphone 4 sim.

Just been to the Edinburgh 3 shop, I asked for a PAYG 4S, the girl sales assistant said "We don't do that"
Then I pointed my finger at the sign display that says Pay As You Go, then she said, "But we don't have it"
I would think "don't do it" and "don't have it" are different things?!!
I was a bit pissed off at her so I walked out. Might try to go again and ask a different person.
Meanwhile, some lucky poster above just ordered via Apple web store last night and got it delivered today lunch time?

Ordered last night, delivered today? I want to see the proof! I doubt that very much!!! As for the payg on 3. I think most of the shops are not actually selling them direct only online, due to people buying them then unlocking them immediatly.
