typical, the store near me still has stock of the one i want and i can't get there until saturday! I'm hoping there's stock on friday night!!! i might just have one browser open on the one nearest me and then one on london and head there if need be

Still no luck for me, I even tried to reserve one in a store not so local to me and get the "We’re sorry, but there are no pickup dates available at this store. Please check back later, try another Apple Retail Store location, or shop the Apple Online Store."

hey guys,

i reserved my 16GB black iphone for in-store pickup from Apple store in
Birmingham (bullring). Pick up time is at 8-8.15am and the actual store opens at 9.30. Will I be able to pick up the phone up to 6pm?

I am in class from 9-12.30

The phone is held up to 12:30 and then it is sold to anyone who comes in and asks to buy one. You could maybe ring up and see if they will hold it longer if you explain why.

soooo excited now, I'll not sleep tonight! :D

I got rid of my 3GS in Feb when I was due an upgrade, and because Voda wanted to charge me for an iPhone 4 I decided to go for the HTC Desire HD.... BIG mistake! I had the phone for a month and it annoyed me so much that I sold it and bought a Blackberry Curve. I've missed my iPhone from the moment I sold it and can't wait to get my shiny 4S :D

so they took the money then gave it back to your account right? coz this has happend to me but the orders still processing... im confused

Yeah, something like that. They basically check with your bank that you actually have the money and let them know that they're going to be taking it.

I'm sure it's probably guaranteed by the bank after Apple have made this request.

My balance is currently around £4,500 but my cash available only shows up as £6,000 (I have a £2,000 overdraft). Apple don't take the money but reserve it; I'm sure it'll be taken overnight or in the next day or two.

yeah got the same

Why does everyone think that iPhones they order are coming from China in individual shipments? there not people.

They come from China in containers i assume and are stored in a UK warehouse in Hinkley, they do have stock in the UK but they are getting through a massive back log of orders, i spoke to Apple themselves today and that was the reply i got.

;);)

Looks like they've finally caught up with themselves. I managed to reserve tonight after about a week of trying.

I just wanted to check - is it correct that I can buy the phone I've reserved SIM-free, or does it have to be locked to a carrier? I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but I saw a page on Apple's website that got me, irrationally I'm sure, concerned. Thanks.

Yes it will be sim free and unlocked.

The shop is open for appointments like yours. Get there for 8 am and hopefully you should be able to get to your class by 09:00 (or just be late and blame traffic)

are you sure about that, cause the whole shopping center opens at 9.30...??

I can pay with cash right?

I ordered online on the 15th but have managed to reserve one in-store for tomorrow, so will be cancelling my order! Mine still says processing items too.

As mine arrived today this'll probably be my last post on this thread however I will say that it has absolutely been worth the wait. As one who is upgrading from a 3gs the jump up is spectacular.

When I received it the battery was around 70% full - I'd read people were receiving their's dead - so before using it I charged it up, restored it to factory settings and set it up as a new phone. I'm sure none of that was necessary at all however now, with around 3 hours of play (both using 3g & wifi), and 6 hours of standby, my battery is only down to 65%. I think this is fairly respectable especially as I've not even played around with switching off the less important notifications and played with Siri a lot.

I'd read a lot of posts about batteries draining in 3-4 hours but from my own experience I've found the 4s to be great.

Enjoy your phones!
