Apple's online store app shows prices for all three storage capacities in both black and White. Their web site only says from £499. The app says the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB will be £499, £599 and £699 respectively.

Really not liking the Apple £1 = $1 conversion rate if that's the case.

The change is not that great as it stands but with prices like that I don't think that the queues will be much to worry about...

Just got an email from O2. If anyones interested you can stay updated by signing up here. Should be interesting to see the different price points accross the range now.

NO REALLY!!! what time do you reckon we need to be outside covent garden to get a phone!!!???? On the 14th??

I'm pretty sure they were only available on Apple's web site. If I recall correctly I had to order online as I wanted a sim free unlocked iPhone 4.

No, you could buy it totally unlocked in Apple stores on release day.

A lot of my queue were people buying either to take or sell abroad.

Come to think of it I think you're right. I think only unlocked models were available online. In store it was unlocked and contract models.

You may be right because I reserved online for store pick up of my factory unlocked model.

Can't see the logic of distinguishing between online and in store sales in this regard though.

Actually, come to think of it I remember that people were flying into London specifically to buy unlocked models, so I stand by what I said originally.

how exactly do i apply for this discount? and when you say customer do you mean contract only?

you dont apply for it. you just go in an orange store and tell them your job and provide a wage slip. if its someone doing it for you, they have to have a contract with orange (i think) and they show a wage slip. They are allowed 5 people to get the deal.

easy as that. you even get 25% off any accessories

I don't see any logic in getting the 4s if you have the 4 and are still locked into a contract

£500 is too much to pay.

Why not? The iPhone 4 32GB was £620 up until the announcement this evening.

£100 for a 16GB step up to 32GB then the same price for a 32GB step up to 64GB. Thought the price of memory would be slightly exponential according to size.

They did with the iPhone 4. :)

Not at my local Apple store but mind you, I haven't even bothered checking in the last 5-6 months. Kinda gave up checking. :)

Mrs is just about to start in the NHS. Thanks for the tip dude! :)

A slightly disappointing upgrade in that the design hasn't changed, but impressive technical improvements. I'll be getting a 32GB white.

Did anyone manage to pick up an iPhone 4 on contract on release day on release day last year? If so, how? I presume most of the stock would be at Apple stores and for people buying the phone unlocked.

I'm a civil servant working for a government department. I'm tempted by this even though I told myself I wouldn't go on contract again.

Going for a 64GB. Got a black iphone 4 I am giving to my wife so may go for a white 4S, will feel like a new phone more then.

iPhone 4s UK availability

Will the new iPhone 4s be available as a pay and go purchase in the UK at the time it goes on sale?
If not, what sort of time frame am I looking at before I could buy it as a pay and go phone in the UK?

It's available unlocked from Apple from 8:00am on 14th October and you can pre-order from 7th October. The PAYG iPhones are not much cheaper so you are better off getting the unlocked one from Apple.

I got mine from Carphone Warehouse on a O2 contract.. Was outside the shop a good hour before the (early) opening... With the 3GS trade in, I made £60 on the deal!

I was out of contract and due an upgrade...

I still have another year and 2 months on my current contract with 3 :(, but I will probably buy the white 4S on pay as you go and then sell my iPhone 4 to pay some of the cost.

I queued for just over 2 hours at the O2 store in the local shopping centre. They seemed to have plenty in stock but they were only available to current O2 customers.

Well seeing as I'm going for Three I just ordered my free PAYG SIM. So if it's only for existing customers, I'll print off the confirmation of that and bring it in. :)
