Phone Contract.

Hello everyone, just a quick question. I will be ordering my iPhone 4s from 3 today and i have a quick question. I am 16, i have a bank account as well as a debit card. I know that i have to be 18 to start a contract but here is my question. Can i just put the contract in my fathers name and then use my Bank details to pay for the contract. Will this be okay, of course i will have his consent.

Many thanks,

George

Can't you get to an apple store on friday or anytime next weekend , pay £500 and swap your sim to the new phone. That's what I'm doing. !!

My problem is I work 5.5 days a week and the nearest Apple store is an hours train ride away in Sheffield !

My work schedule this month stops me from taking a day off as holiday and my integrity won't allow me to ring in sick !

Suppose theirs a Sunday !

You buying online or in store? I did this when I was 16 and had my iPhone 3G, it was in my dad's name but went out my account direct debit. Then for some reason they cancelled the direct debit, still don't know why to this day so used to ring up every month and pay my bill. It's easier if your buying online to do what you want to do. They may, or may not question it in store.

Just noticed the same , raging !!! and to make it worse the customer service advisor on phone told me twice i could pay out my contract on the day of launch and start a new one . i asked him to check with upgrade dept and the said no i cant do that .

Away to phone cancellations when they open !

Out of interest what did they offer you to stay, were they going to make it so you could upgrade on launch day ?

I'm still with O2, but ordered from Apple on Friday morning. When I phoned O2's upgrade person to check my phone & data usage decided to switch to Simplicity to see out my contract to 31 December-saving me £20 per month-good!

Got a 'First dibs for O2 customers' email' yesterday BUT their site still said no pre-orders-O2 said you can ring to 'pre-order' at 8.00am on Friday for delivery probably 2 weeks later. Crazy!

I'm ordering direct from Apple 'cos we hope to move to France in this academic year so that makes sense.

Do think the way O2 have treated their customers is pretty shoddy-late information, no pre-orders compared to other carriers.

Perhaps of interest I got a call at 5pm yesterday from the gent at Apple who took my details-couldn't order 'cos the site was down & was apologetic 'cos they'd been so busy.

Seems everywhere the demands been absolutely huge so no wonder Apple & the phone companies have really struggled.
PS if you are checking your order changes-check out June Cloud on the app store.

Yep,I did this for a couple of years when I was younger.

Im grandfathered into a 1month rolling sim only contract I took out when I bought my 3G.

I get unlimited texts and data as well as 600 minutes for £25pm. Looking at the contracts out there now theres not a lot too close to that kinda deal and I dont have the money to buy the phone out right for the next month or two.

When I last phoned O2 they couldnt offer me anything because the plans werent out yet, but they said pgone back when they are and they will probably be able to help me out. Considering ive been with them nearly two years I'm hoping they can give me a half decent plan. Anyone called up and managed to sort a half decent plan through them?

For years now I have been in two year contracts. I got my iPhone4 on the second day it was released, with Orange. So now, of course, I am not due to upgrade until next June. They have offered me a 33% discount on buying out my contract, which would cost me £200. Then the subsidised cost of the phone on a new two year deal. No way.

This time I am buying a 4S outright, sim free, no contract. When my Orange contract expires I will likely get a GiffGaff sim. Will cut my monthly outgoing by half.

I appreciate that I signed up for a two year contract but I would expect that Orange would want to keep customers. Obviously they are not that bothered. Neither am I then.

Just contacted o2, quite straightforward because I'm moving from pay monthly to o2 pay as you go, once my number is migrated to the new sim my pay monthly account will be disconnected, no 30 days notice because I'm transferring the number.

Whether the sim i receive is a micro one remains to be seen though.

My mate wants to get the 4s but wants to order it end of November start of dec do you think he would get it before Christmas?

Do a search for the company Junecloud LLC or the app itself "Delivery Status touch, a package tracker" in the App store.

It costs £2.99 though and is not free. I've not used it so I don't know if it's any good.

I use it all the time and it is great. Highly recommended for tracking your parcels including stuff from Apple.

I am using it to keep an eye on my iphone 4s order.

Has anyone who ordered via Apple seen their order progress further than the 'Processing' stage yet?

I ordered mine and it got past the processed stage (delivery of 14th october) but I changed my colour to black meaning I had to cancel my first order so now my order is on processing and a delivery of 1-2 weeks!

What, you're saying you do get Visual Voicemail with giffgaff? Everyone else I've ever seen answer this question says you don't... care to clarify? VV is one of the things that's keeping me with O2 at the moment.

You can get visual voicemail apps from the appstore for free

3 have The One Plan that gives you 2000 minutes, unlimited 3-3 minutes, unlimited texts, real unlimited data for £25 and that's also a one month rolling sim

It is good :)

Although for some reason, I find that I only get delivery status update notifications if I have the OSX Widget running on my Mac at the same time (almost as if it's the Mac that pushes the notification to the notification service and the phone).

The OSX Widget is free and does pretty much what the phone app does, but it's well worth the £2.99 if you fairly routinely get deliveries.

All the best,

Mike

I've just done the same, but the opposite way round. Got an early order in on Friday for a black 16G, but have now decided I actually want a white one. Delivery time of 24th-31st October now. :(

Called Apple yesterday, and they said they couldn't just amend my existing order to change the colour. Was rather disappointed to be honest, although I do accept that it is my own fault for changing my mind.

Might still chance my luck at the Apple store next Friday and then just cancel the online order if I get lucky.

Delivery times look to be 2-3 weeks then. Will put my order in late November at worst so I should get it before christmas, not too fussed about when I get it as long as it's before xmas.

If it relies on the OSX widget running then it's no good as my Mini is usually in sleep mode or off when I'm not using it. I was hoping to use the app whilst at work to check on delivery status. I can use the Internet but it's quite slow at work plus we are not supposed to use it for personal use. The app would be ideal as I can check the status on my iPhone or iPad. Is it definitely not possible to use it independently ?

That is exactly how it works, the app developer said it would cost him a lot more than the £2.99 he charges for the app to run a server that would track deliveries and then send push notifications, so he made a compromise and made the widget send the notifications.
