I think we know what the iphone 5 wil have next year in addition:
1. 3.7" screen (instead of 3.5")
2. slightly slimmer, but still keeping the glass and steel construction, with some kind of re-designed back
3. A6 - quad core cpu (following on from Ipad 3 which wll get the A6 early next year)
but thats for another year, another time.

I think the 4s is a great upgrade to the 4 and its what I have been looking for

Having seen the benchmarks on this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1245812/

I wouldn't expect to see an A6 chip in anything until 2013. The A5 and even the A4 are perfectly capable of beating the competition now and for some time yet.

Doesn't make sense to spend money going A6 if theres no business requirement to do so.

Just want to say that I phoned an Apple Store today and received an unequivocal 'yes' that the sim-free version will be available in store on Friday. I don't know how the rumours to the contrary seeped out, but they're looking, as expected, like nonsense.

If places like Carphone Warehouse are taking orders this week and promising delivery for Friday then they must have a lot of stock in the UK, I guess Apple would have the same.

I read on here yesterday that someone who ordered from Carphone Warhouse was told they were showing in stock system, I would guess that they are in warehouses here already, being prepared to be sent to individual store locations.

Going back to my sim....

If i bought a sim cutter off ebay, would i be able to cut my sim and then use it in my iphone with no problem?

Im asking because of this whole BB tariff thing the Orange guy mentioned. Whats the difference between the two tariffs and why should i pay more when i've bought my iphone outright!

Basically, yes. While I was waiting for my micro-SIM last year, I downloaded a template off the internet and used it to cut my mini-SIM to size with a pair of scissors. A SIM cutter will obviously make like easier.

I still find it baffling how so many people complain about the specs of the 4S and te fact they feel cheated by Apple and were expecting a lot more. There was a lot of hype all of it based on rumours which seem to have got peoples expectations up.

Indeed. People who are mad that they aren't getting an "iphone 5" need to get over it. Would they be happy with the 4S if it were called "iphone 5"? They might as well get mad because Apple aren't giving them a free pony, because Apple made precisely as many promises about free ponies as they did about the iPhone 5

I realise Apple has a reputation for design and style but people need to give them a break. If you're not happy about the 4S then don't get it and wait for the next model which I'm sure will be a major upgrade.

Part of being a great designer is sometimes knowing what not to change, or when to change something.

That might have been me. I've talked to CPW quite a few times about my order for various reasons and they've said all along that they've actually got a stock for sure, and that if they accept an order for delivery on a certain date then it will be in your hands on that date.

im currently on a blackberry tarrif with orange and have been using my sim in my ip4 for the last 6 months without any problems.
Data just shows as mobile internet on my bill and its all included.
speeds seem a bit slow but i dont know if thats due to a data rate cap or orange is just generally slower.

My Girlfriend will be having my 3gs when my 4s arrives. She is currently using a BB on Orange and i called up to change tariff. I was told that if i just put this sim inside it should work anyway.

Hope this helps, and i have tried this already and i can confirm that it does indeed work.

:)

32GB Black iPhone 4S

Finally ordered my new O2 12 month simplicity sim. First time talking to them my card/bank was declined, god knows why. Then retried and it worked about an hour later!

Either way, does anyone know the number for O2 customer services? (I need to transfer my old O2 number to my new sim (wanted to change account holder you see)) I try 202 from my phone but the options are so vague :p.

Belfast Apple Store, Victoria Square

What sort of time do you think you'd need to get there for Fri morning. Hoping to grab a 32 GB black 4S Sim free. I'm usually up pretty early but reading some of these times, it appears a little OTT. 3am?, 4 am? I was going to try and get there for 7.00?

Never queued for an apple product. If it's much earlier than 6, well...may just wait

Anyone?

Anyone who ordered directly from apple have there iphone posted yet?

still processing on mine :(

Yanks seem to be getting their iphones from China

If you get there for as early as possible, 4am should be acceptable. If you really want one.

O2 have down the same near me. Mast was on top of a local swimming pool, pool was knocked down and it has been a year and a half with 1 bar of 3G on my iPhone, was 5 bar. Those near to the pool have no 2G reception, and this is in the middle of the West Midlands.

Orange tell me they're waiting for a part for the mast. The mast must be made in china? Question is, I'm paying for a service I'm not receiving. How does that work, if you go down the road from where you live and it does work. Don't really know where I stand on that one. Do you have 'bars' for 3G on yours, I only see the word '3G'

If ours are coming from china too we've been screwed over. They would have to ship today to stand any chance of getting here for launch, but it is clear they are not.

Our only saving hope is that they ship from UK.

FGS they are already in the country
o2 & CPW are reporting they have them in stock already for quite a few days
