getting the idea that a few o2 stores are getting nano sims in now. Will pop into town tomorrow and try n get hold of one. Would ideally like my number transferred to a nano sim by thursday night for a trouble-free changeover on friday.

Going to apple glasgow store to try and buy it on friday. Any idea when the best time to queue would be to get it.

How many iphones are the stores likely to stock on friday?

I would suggest to make it before final release as regarding what I've been told from Three genius, they expect very high volume on friday. I did that way and I'm ready to go.

Phew!

Finally got one from Old Broad Street store behind Liverpool Street Stn.

If you have a Three Nano-Sim I would activate it straight away as it will be slower come the weekend. I activated mine at 5am this morning and it is now fully working inside my iPhone 4S with Nano-Sim adapter. :D

How are you all activating your nano sims?! What are you putting them in? Or does it come in a micro sim frame? Or you got an adapter??

I called up customer services as I wanted to give my PAC to port my number and the chap said he could activate it.. until he counding find my sim on the system!

once its activated then you can start the porting process with PAC code.

this is with 3 by the way. assuming putting the nano SIM into an adapter and into a phone would activate it as well.. if only they sent me one :)

Just got a nano-sim from the O2 shop at Cribbs Causeway. The two guys there said they had 200 but had no instructions or guidance on what to do with them. They weren't sure if there were allowed to give me one but decided they would give them out until told not to. I didn't have to give any proof that I was an O2 customer or had ordered an iphone5.

The "guru" advised me against trying to ring customer services on Friday as they'd be really busy, and said I should be able to manage the changeover myself online. He said they didn't have any nano/micro adapters so advised against swapping the number over until Friday. However I have since found that there are adapters in the pack they gave me.

They were as friendly and helpful as they could be, but clearly didn't have any guidance from O2 centrally.

Thats odd, i phoned litrally 5 mins ago and they said they had none left!

Vodafone Existing contract customers:

Just spoke to an extremely helpful chap on Live Chat on their site who sent me a nano sim for free. (3-5 working days delivery)

Just a heads up, sorry if this info is already in here.

Cheers and roll on Friday :p

Friday Delivery via DPD or Yodel (supposidly she is updating my account to say DPD is a preference) - although i doubt the last bit.

I tried a sneaky cashback link when ordering my phone from Apple, even though the small print said no cashback on iPhone 5.. I did get a whopping £1.53 back on my Apple care though

Does anyone know if I pre-order with 3 today online (claiming the quidco available aswell as it's been extended to Sep 24th) will I receieve my iPhone on Friday?

Ordered at 13:45 from 3 and their website was showing Sept 21st as delivery date and so does my conformation email.

Just checked and its now only the 64GB white showing 21/9 delivery now. All other models are now saying "Because iPhone 5 is so popular we're waiting for more stock before we can accept any more pre-orders online."

Just been to O2 Oxford Circus and Tottenham Crt Rd. both quoting me Rhurs evening.

Just got back from o2 Oxford Street (next to HMV, the Oxford circus end of Oxford St) and they gave me a nano sim virtually the second I walked into the store; I did try a couple of hours earlier and a CR there told me they definitely weren't getting them in until Friday, when I pointed out the announcement on their site / twitter she said "Well I don't know anything about that so guess there's nothing we can do for you"

Spoke to the manager on the way out who told me to come back in the afternoon when they would have had their delivery

In the process of porting over now

came with an adapter btw

Finally managed to obtain an o2 nano sim after many hours of conflicting information and excuses from local stores. I heard everything from "We won't have them until launch day" to "We only get deliveries on Wednesdays". I called my local store again at 3pm and asked the same mundane question, expecting the same result. To my shock they said "Yes, we do". After confirming they were nano sim and not micro, I headed down to the store. 10 minutes later I was transfered over to the new sim by an o2 member and walked out a satisfied customer. There is light at the end of the tunnel... Just don't give up.

The good news now, I'm officially ready for the iPhone 5. Bring it on!

Just tried my local O2 store (Kilmarnock) and got told they "...only had about 6, which were for demo purposes, try again Wednesday afternoon after 2pm after our weekly delivery comes in, we should have loads then".

Got the feeling it might not have been entirely the whole truth, but as long as I can nip in on Wednesday afternoon I should hopefully still be good to go on Friday.

A quick Three (and all the others actually) question. When it talks about '1GB' data per month, am I to assume that's down and upload?

I skirt around just over 1GB download at the mo so would be OK if it's not combined up & download.

Probably a bit naive to imagine that uploading data would somehow be free!?

Naive is a correct statement ;):p

its up and down

No joy getting a nano sim in either O2 Portadown or Craigavon...both said the didn't have any in and wouldn't know when they'll get them...I'll try again Wednesday afternoon

Odd, my local had at least 50 (asked when enquiring). Maybe they are holding them back for Friday? I still fail to understand why so much conflicting information is being passed around. If o2 confirmed on both Twitter and Facebook and shared additional information on the o2 Community Forum then why are the majority of staff so incredibly clueless? Surely you would think staff would be on the ball...

Friday Delivery via DPD or Yodel (supposidly she is updating my account to say DPD is a preference) - although i doubt the last bit.

Yodel are easily the WORST courier EVER! How can o2 allow Yodel to take charge of delivering such expensive pieces of kit? I've had a DSLR "go missing" in the past thanks to Yodel and have heard plenty of horror stories. I pray they use DPD for ALL deliveries as Yodel really know how to ruin your day. (Don't even get me started on the awful customer service).

You know what, I've never thought of that in the 2 years I've had my iPhone (On O2, but it's 500MB data and I'm switching soon).

I would /assume/ they mean combined. But I have no idea. That's a really good question, actually. I think I'll personally be going for AYCE data.

Just nipped into the T-mobile shop. Paid £25 reserved in store for Friday a black 32GB iPhone 5. So glad I didn't ring em to pre order now with that "within 30 days" crap. So excited now! :)

He told me they hadn't gotten any deliveries and to come back on Thurs. Same with Tottenham branch. Meh...luckily i found one in Liverpool Street.

Just been to pick up a pay & go nanosim from O2 in the Trafford Centre (the one near WHSmiths). Asked if they had any adapters but they said they didn't have any.
