How do you find Tesco as a Network mate? They have a pretty good offer I'm tempted on......

250 mins (work offshore, so don't need a lot of minutes)
5000 texts
1GB data
1 month contract.

For £12.50 a month......

I'm on an O2 PAYG card at the moment.......

Stuart.

Tesco use the O2 network.

Tesco use the O2 network.

I know this, but Tesco have cheaper sim only deals.....

EDIT. Going back to my original question I wasn't only wondering about the network, as I knew they were on O2. But meant in general, customer service etc etc....

Sorry.

will my iPhone arrive on the 21st?

pre ordered £36pm 16gb iPhone 5 T-Mobile, just so i can get 4g if i want to get it in the future

Hi

I'm on The One 1 month rolling plan with Three which is £25 a month.

Can anyone confirm that tethering still works with the other all you can eat plans like the ultimate internet 200 (£12.90) and 600 (£18) rolling plans?

I only use about 150 minutes a month so the one plan is overkill for me but tethering is important and comes in handy a lot, so it'd be good to hear from someone who is on one of these plans?

Thanks

To get tethering on any of the Three SIM-Only deals, you need to add £5 a month (you choose it as an add-on option at the checkout).

Hi

Thanks for that

It's just that a couple of people earlier on the thread were saying that on these plans, personal hotspot still actually works even though tethering through three isn't official enabled?

I'm not sure why this would be but it'd be great to pay £12.90 a month for all you can eat data including unlimited tethering!

Queuing up in London?

For you guys who didn't manage to pre-order in time and aim to queue up on Thursday - where are you heading and when?

I can't say anything about that since I am a new Three customer, I'm just going off the website. If people are saying that then it's unofficial, and there's an element of risk involved.

If you've pre-ordered in store for collection they should hold it for you. I was told that mine would be guaranteed to be there waiting for me, no matter what time of day...!

thats what i was hoping but they dont exactly hire geniuses in these shops so i wouldnt be surprised if i knew more about it than they did, dont believe im going to get one from them on launch day until its in my hand!

O2 Switch

Quick update from Stamford. I telephoned and they said that they hadn't had their delivery yet, and that they couldn't give them out until Friday anyway. I said that the O2 website was saying available from this afternoon, which surprised them, but they said that once they'd had their delivery they'd give me a call.
Anyway, half an hour later they called back to say that I could pick one up whenever I liked.
Arrived at the shop and had to wait five minutes because they were still booking them in to inventory, but once that was done they handed one over.

@rogerram - was going to PM you, but since I only registered today I cant send a PM. Hope you spot this.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi,
Thanks for that. I got a call at 5pm from the lass @ O2 but I was working.

So peeved I've now got my nano-sim on its way from Vodafone + their £50 Surephone signal booster + their PAYG microsim to switch straight away. Phoned O2 for the PAC code that was texted within minutes & also had a laugh with the girl on the 'Leaving O2' line 'cos she understood straightaway that I wanted to play with my new toy straightaway on Friday. I said they should make her Managing Director for being the first to understand.

Really chuffed now it's sorted (assuming Vodafone sims arrive soon).

The £12.90 plan plus tethering works out cheaper than the One plan.

The one plan is £25 the other one with tethering added is £17.90.

Yeah that's very true. Only thing is you get 1GB of tethering data rather than unlimited but that does seem like a good option.

Yup!

I went for the same plan exactly. Can't wait for unlimited data plus tethering

I've had an iPhone 3GS for 3 years so thought best to upgrade and buy the iPhone 5 directly from Apple having missing out the 4/4S. Hopefully it will arrive at my doorstep on Friday morning...

However I thought I'd share my recent experience along with many other GiffGaff members on how purchasing the iPhone 5 has resulted in them unable to potentially remain with GiffGaff in the short term. I'm a long standing GiffGaff user (I even have a special "founders" badge next to my avatar) but because they couldn't source nano sims fast enough, many people have decided to jump ship and try their luck elsewhere.

My current mobile plan with GiffGiff was as follows:

£10 Goodiebag
£10 per month - 1 month rolling (no long term contract)
250 mins
unlimited text
AYCE (unlimited) data

This was by far the best value plan at this price in the UK but because GiffGaff wouldn't be able to support nano sims from launch date and a potential price hike, I considered the following offers from Three where they DO offer nano sims only plans:

Ultimate Internet SIM 200
£12.90 per month - 1 month rolling (no long term contract)
200 mins
5000 texts
AYCE (unlimited) data

or...

Ultimate Internet SIM 600
£18.90 per month - 1 month rolling (no long term contract)
600 mins
5000 texts
AYCE (unlimited) data

I ended up going for the Ultimate Internet SIM 600 package as I knew my talk time would increase from now on.

So I order the nano-sim on the Three website but also was able to get a cashback offer through Quidco of £33.33 and effectively getting 2 months free service with this plan.

There is word in the GiffGaff forums that you maybe able to "cut" and "thin down" your current standard size and micro size sims down to a nano sim but no one has confirmed that this actually works with an iPhone 5 yet. If it does work then this maybe a short term fix until GiffGaff can get their supply of nano sims.

So I'll wait to hear whether this very crude hack works, otherwise I should have my Three nano sim ready to go with my number being ported next week...

Hope this helps for fellow GiffGaff members and people that are looking to get some cashback from Quidco on Three Nano Sims

I walked into my local O2 shop this afternoon, and after a 20 minute wait while they unloaded the nano sims from their delivery lorry, the O2 Guru gave me a nano sim pack and even did my sim swap instore for me.

My micro sim went dead the moment I got home, popped the nano sim in the adapter which came in the pack, carefully put it into my iPhone 4 and everything is running smoothly.

After all the confusion I've seen other people get from O2 stores, my experience was very good, and all the staff seemed clued up on what is going on.

My local store is in Crewe btw.

This is so boring waiting for the new iPhone to be shipped and get delivered.

I know it's only three more days and reviews will be out on Thursday I'm sure but its still boring.

The SIM thing is easy enough. Either cut it down to nano size using a template or go get a nanoSIM from your network. Everyone will have them.

On Three I can confirm you CAN tether on the cheaper plans and PAYG. I started on PAYG and moved to a 30 day plan.

On other networks the iPhone tethering is blocked so you cant even enable it. You just get a message telling you to contact them on xxxxx.

Three dont appear to have the software installed on their network which stops this. It works with no restrictions.

They do use something called TrafficSense which sees how you are using the network. If they see you using excessive amounts of data on one of their all you can eat plans then they start asking questions. The only plan which officially allows tethering is the One plan but all other plans allow it.

I have heard of Android users having problems in that they tether but when they view a web page on the tethered device it tells them they need a bundle but I have never had a problem with other iPhones or iPads connecting to my personal hotspot.

I am on Three's £12 a month plan (the older one with 300 mins and 1GB of data). It's also worth pointing out that Three do not charge you for going over your allowance, its on their website, take a look. They do however send you annoying texts when you are near your limit. Hence my 1GB instead of 500mb. Just to stop the nagging. I dont even have the option to add a tethering bundle in MyThree.

Three's network currently supports HSPA+ and from what I understand DC-HSDPA at some point although this was delayed. I often get 5mbps+ on my iPhone 4 so hoping for better on the 5.

EE is out for me, its orange and t-mobile. This year I left orange and the wife left t-mobile. Good coverage but piss poor speed and awful customer service. Went with Three as data is what we need more than calls and their plans just had the best rates. So far very happy. Also EE are saying you need to sign a new minimum term contract to switch from T-Mob or orange. So im guessing your 24 month contract could suddenly turn into a 30 month one.

The question for most is... Is your 3G too slow and warrants a 4G network?

Downside of Three. Called 333 to get a nano sim. It came the next day, but it was pre-activated even though they said it wouldnt be so my current SIM stopped working. Had to take a trip to a 3 store to pickup an adapter just to get back up and running. They also tried to charge me £5.11 but I said that on their @ThreeUK twitter they said it was free so the nice chap in India dropped the charge.

Check out the 3 blog, they have a couple of good articles on their network speeds, what they support and plans etc. They also say they support HD/Wideband audio but no details if it is compatible with the iP5.

My advice for those with tethering, drop it and save yourself £120 over 2 years.

Orange are faffing about with it, I think they said something like 'we hope to have PAYG nano sims by Friday!' oh, you hope, do you? You'd better do more that just hope, or else we'll probably all migrate somewhere else.

Just signed up after having been lurking.

I've been insterestedin what folks have been saying about deliveries and Orange so I called them up. I preordered (upgrade) over the phone at about 08.20 last Friday. As we know, Orange had all sorts of problems processing the orders, eventually being able to do it by adding the cost of the upgrade to my bill. I then paid the same am
