So if we want 4G, should/can we pre-order from Orange/T-mobile and does it cost to move over to EE when it launches "in the coming weeks"?

Just a heads up for those wanting to order a Nano-sim online from O2.

Go over to the O2 website and us the "Contact Us" option at the bottom of homepage. Use the "Chat online" option. Put in your details and select the "Pay Monthly" option and be sure to select "Something Else" on the next option, or you'll be redirected to an automatic iPhone 5 page. Once an operator pops up, mention the following "I'd like to order a nano-sim please. Can you please tell me how I go about it?" or something similar. They'll ask for your details and security password, then confirm your address. Once that's all done they'll order one for you and tell you to expect the Nano-Sim in 1-3 working days. Hope this helps anyone who's wanting to obtain one before the imminent mad rush.

I dont see the "Chat Online" Option on the contact us page. Just some automated system

I'm with O2 on a monthly rolling contract.

Thinking of moving to Orange for 4G network.. Will Orange UK be up and running on 4G by 21st sept?

I tweeted to O2 about nano sim and they only mentioned nano sim available with new phone purchases. I then asked about existing users- no reply...

You need an EE contract for 4G. Orange/Tmob have said that people can 'upgrade' from orange/tmob ones to 4G ones but no one really knows what they'll cost and how easy it'll be.

Just had a chat online with vodafone customer service about possibly upgrading to 4G on my 2 year contract when they launch it, this is how it went.

You: i am looking to pre order the iphone 5 tomorrow to upgrade my current contract, i was wondering whether Vodafone would offer a 4G LTE upgrade to that contract when you eventually launch the service?
Heba: Yes that is a phone feature that is supported by Vodafone
You: so you are going to offer 4G straight away? or will it be something i can buy extra to my contract when it launches?
Heba: it will be connected to the 4G straight away
You: thank you
Heba: you are welcome
Heba: Is there anything else I can do for you today?
You: no that will be all thank you

Probably should be taken with a pinch of salt lol

chatting with o2 now, he initially said I'd have to wait for a nano sim until the 21st, I told him others had pre-ordered them, so now he's just "checking on that".

"I'm sorry but you can only get it from the 21st. You don't need to pre order it."

My friend just had the same response, which no leads me to think the person I spoke to has ordered me a Micro-Sim instead... I'm going to have to phone them I think.

im getting that too from o2, they are saying on live chat they do not have the sims but will post them out when you request one when available

Thanks for the replies, im shocked at how incoherent mobile companies are being atm. Vodafone told me yesterday that the earliest the iphone 5 will be released is a month after the annoucement lol.

As much as i would love LTE ill probs stick with vodafone for ease and hope they offer a LTE addon once they launch it.

Out of interest anyone know how you would go about switching to EE? their website doesnt seem too obvious.

Three's been REALLY helpful so far, was on phone talking about why we love iPhone, even though he has a 3GS lol.... but I was just tackling them about when I can upgrade since I'm due... and guess I'm not sleeping tonight :p haha (tomorrow)

Also, just contact them via their service number and they'll have more information on how to switch to EE. I'm sure the Orange/T-Mobile lines are cranked right now but they will have the information. :D

I think I'll switch to EE anyway, as much as I like o2, I wanna try 4G when it comes out.

So I'll either queue outside an orange shop on the 21st or pre-order, anyone got any ideas about which would be best to do?

I think people need to chill out a little regarding the nano sims....!!!

When you pre-order the iPhone 5, no doubt you'll be sent the relevant sim to go with it. What is the point in trying to order a nano sim before you get the phone...?!

Pre-order or go to their stores tomorrow to pre-order! that is what I've been told.

not entirely true. You can upgrade in store

http://*****apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/

Looks like you can do upgrades at an Apple Store but not online.

Taken from Apples website:

Current iPhone owners and existing 3, Orange, O2,
T-Mobile or Vodafone customers

There are a variety of upgrade options for existing customers. To learn more about upgrading to iPhone, please visit your local Apple Retail Store.

so that people who purchase the phone SIM free can use it straight away?

Why are you staying up until midnight when pre-ordering begins in the morning? It's midnight Pacific Time, not BST!

Pre order won't start until 8am (Like last year).

There won't be sim only deals with EE for LTE. They will either not offer sim only deals or just allow you to access 3G data, read the fine print on EE.co.uk. The plan here is to make orange/tmobile handle older services and EE customers will experience LTE, if I believe so. Read there terms and condition and downwards:

4G: Subject to coverage. UK only. Pay monthly only. When 4G launches a compatible device and plan on EE is required. Charges may apply and you’ll have to agree to a new minimum term on EE. Other terms apply.

Hi, I don't think the wording precludes a SIM-only plan, they're just saying you need a 4G device for 4G, seems obvious but that's what small print does.
