I am getting pretty confused about how to approach getting an EE contract, one with 4G support.

This is what I want to do, do you think I can do it?

Buy my iPhone 5, day one from Apple, sim free. Then, once EE services become available with 4G and they start offering contracts, get a contract with them.

Do you think they will allow users who already own an iPhone 5 get a 4G contract? Also whats the business with Orange customers transferring, how will that work?

Not enough Info for a phone becoming available for pre-order tomorrow (not that, that will stop me, hehe).

Why would they care if you already have a phone? They want your money!
They'll have options for new contracts with phones or sim-only I would think.

Sim only deals are far better than normal contracts anyway as you can get 1 month 'contracts'.

24month contracts are a ripoff as by the time you are 6 months into it, there's cheaper deals elsewhere but you're forced to stay

The networks are being typically greedy holding off information that customers want in an attempt to play the 'last stand' against each other just to see what kind of pricing they can get away with. They better get their act together and reveal pricing today because im sure many others along with myself will order directy from apple if there no info released come midnight tonight.

im just confused as when i spoke to vodafone twice so far they were adamant that 4G will be available straight away, which is obviously BS lol. maybe its because they fear me switching idk.

This is exactly the situation I am in, but I'm with T-Mobile.

This is my plan:

- Pre-order an unlocked iPhone 5 tomorrow from Apple
- Wait for EE to get their **** together and offer a migration path
- If it all goes tits-up then I can always sell the phone, I'm assuming it will sell out

I'm sure if you get the phone on Orange, you can transfer to a 4G EE contract when available.

iPad 3 Pre-order was middle of the night not 8am, it wasn't the same time as the US, has Apple said what time it will be or is it all speculation based on past events?

My situation, contract rolling on 3 on my 3GS, which I've had for over 3 years now.
Will most likely switch to EE for 4G.
I've been paying £10 per month recently though, think I may be in for a shock!

pre-order for the iPad started almost immediately after it launched, except Apple's website crashed and most people didn't get back onto it until after about 10pm

I forgot a lot of the problems we all had with the iPad 3 launch, and I didn't bother pre-ordering my 4S. Guess I'll be setting an alarm for tomorrow then.

O2 have revealed contracts earlier... But they are clearly going to mean the handsets cost a ridiculous amount of ££... Unlimited minutes/text & 1gb data on all of them! We all know no one really wants unlimited minutes and they'll use it as an excuse to charge probably up to £500+ for the 64gb one lol.

Good find, very vague on pricing though.

Not that I'm going to tied down to 1GB of data though..

Speaking of that, Are t-mobile doing unlimited data? Obviously when EE kicks in, this might change. But I don't want to be waiting 4 months with a 1GB cap.

Woohoo! Just preordered my iPhone 5!

Carphone Warehouse guarantee launch day availability if you pay a (refundable!) £29 deposit. The deal is only available over the phone til midnight though.

And yes, I did ask some very searching questions of the person I spoke to. To be fair, she had all the answers.

Good luck with that - My CPW Phone 3 was a pre-order guaranteed for delivery on launch day with promises every time I rang up to confirm. 3:00pm on the day they finally acknowledged that despite me having placed one of the earliest orders it would 'be a few days'. iPhone turned over a week later.

I'd like to say they're bound to have got their act together over the last few years, but from what I've seen other people say of them during the 3S, 4 and 4S launch I still wouldn't touch CPW with a bargepole.

one adviser for o2 told me they wont release iphone nano sims for purchase/free untill 21st! i said surely this is to late!.. getting many differernt storeys

I'm a little confused about upgrading my contract with the Apple store.

Will I be able to preorder my contract upgrade on the Apple store online tomorrow?

When I upgraded to my iPhone 4 I was able to reserve my phone online then go instore and upgrade and pay for it.

Will this be the case again?

Three is telling me to wait until the nano sims are available

I have been assured that availability of nano SIMs from Three won't be a problem. They have large stocks in the warehouse already. I don't know the mechanism for distributing them yet, but I expect something will be announced within the next day. :)

No and no.

You will need to buy from your network if you want to upgrade your contract.

Why increase the 16Gb to £529 and leave the rest at old prices! such a piss take!

16GB is the most popular model which means they're just trying to gouge more from those users to fill up their bottom line. Really off-putting.

I remember the days when these things cost just over £300.

*sigh*

Just a note for all the people paying a deposit on Carphone Warehouse, if you read the T&C's online the phone isnt Garunteed on launch day.

They take adecuqate measures to try and offer phones on relesed date but this is not garunteed. :(

im sure yiou stand a better than average chance, but im waiting to pre order directly from Orange :)
