How do you rate your itunes match? Its something i've been looking at but never found anyone else using it to get an opinion. Is it true it only holds 25000 songs? Am i right in saying its 21.99 a month?

Itunes Match is great. it's up to 25,000 songs plus anything that you buy though itunes, and the prices is £21.99 /year - not month.

Are they looking in to VVM? Got a link? I've been with Three for a while and would love this!

From their twitter

@ThreeUK - When I joined you guys I was told by customer services that Visual Voicemail was being worked on. Is it any closer to a reality?

@n47h No further news on that at the moment, I'm afraid, but we are aware many custs are asking for it >Ros

I dont think ive ever had a single voicemail for the past 2 years. Just dont use my phone as a phone all that much :)

oh VVM was an exclusivity deal for O2!! that explains it then. I've learnt something today.

No it wasn't, it all depended on whether the voicemail solution the networks used supported it or not. EE/Orange/T-Mobile have clearly being upgrading their voicemail if they intend to support it later this year / early next year.

It seems O2 have started to ship their iPhone 5s to customers. I guess they've got them in the UK already.

No.

The porting system is controlled by law.

You MUST be able to get a PAC from your existing network within 2 hours.

Once you have that, giving it to your NEW network, MUST result in it being ported the NEXT working day*.

*Exceptions:

Friday > Monday
Saturday/Sunday > Tuesday

If you ask for it to be ported on a later date, that can be arranged (up to the 30 days that the PAC is valid for).

The daily cut-off time is usually 17:00 or 17:30 to give the new network a PAC.

Cool, thanks for that, think i'll do it Friday first thing, if it doesn't get done till Monday then so be it.....i just want it to work for now :) Can keep my 4 on me until it changes.

Oh right i didn't know it was 25000 of your own stuff plus itunes material. How do you go about selecting which songs on your itunes make up the 25000? Thats good its 21.99 a year, for some reason i thought it was per month

Anyone could carry the VVM system, it's the price tag for an iPhone specific system (at the time, don't know if that is still the case) that most carriers bulked at.

O2 got initial exclusivity because they were the only ones prepared to invest in the system (among other reasons)

I've also just had a text from O2 confirming that I've been switched to my new tarriff.

Yes indeed. I did call them back to check, and the guy said that due to them not having them in stock, the emails with the order details aren't being sent out. As soon as they are in stock the order detail email, and then tracking detail emails will be sent.
Am not particularly concerned - what's the worst that can happen?

I was under the impression that they already had stock and were in the process of allocating? They are still taking orders on their website and over the phone for guaranteed friday delivery so they must have a lot of stock.. Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see!

I've no idea what happens if you've got over 25,000 items and if/how you can select which ones are held in the iCloud. (Sounds like my library is pathetic with only 4760 songs).
Sorry

Ah that's good news! I'm hoping I receive my email soon! Did you order online or over the phone?

I love iTunes match but It depends how many devices you have/want access to your music on.

I currently have access to my whole music collection on my iPad, iPhone and MacBook without having to worrying about syning or managment of space etc!

Its not flawless and I wish playlist was synced also but its a brilliant system, its one less thing that I worry about, I just access my music as and when I want to listen to it!

Plus as an added feature that I hadn't thought of before, on Monday, I preordered the new Killers album, before iTunes Match I would have to wake up early to download the new songs on release day before work, nowadays I just go to work as normal and the songs become avaible to play as and when I need them.

Its also not £21.99 a month, Its £20 odd a year, can't quite remember the exact price!

If you have multiple devices I would highly recomend a years sub!

Over the phone 3.30pm on Fri 14th. The upfront charge for my handset appeared on my online credit card banking statement a couple of days ago.

Match is great as I have access to my entire music library (70GB or 9578 songs) wherever I go. It means I dont need a 64gb phone although I did get the 32Gb as the 8mp camera will take more space as will the 1080p videos.

How good match is though depends on your connection speed. On wifi I can just play any song I like, if im in a poor reception area it takes a while to download the song (it downloads it rather than stream although I think I saw iOS6 changes this to stream now).

It can also make your ipod app a little sluggish as it shows EVERYTHING you own which takes a while sometimes, You can turn it off and only display whats on your phone already. But that kind of defeats the object.

Its also a backup as it uploads all your music that iTunes doesnt have to their servers. How many people here have thousands of songs and no offsite backup? I run a business so actually have local backups, offsite backups and i use iDrive.com for cloud backups. Still love itunes match though.

should make an iTunes match thread guys - also because I use it and have a horrible time with iPhone integration /album art, but this is the wrong thread.

Any Apple.com/uk orders shipped yet?

none

Yes, that was my impression as well, but well, didn't feel the need to argue with him.

Hurray!! Do you know roughly what time you placed the order?

Managed to finally get my 3 nano-sim working in my iPhone 4. Wasn't 3's fault, was just me being stupid tbh.

Didn't realise I had to sync the phone with iTunes before it'll see the carrier change. A well, every day is a school day.

Just to pass comment on the 3 "network" in my area. Damn its fast. 4 times faster than my broadband. I get 0.5 Meg upload 3's 3G gives me 2.2 Meg.

Where do u get that from?

They haven't shipped as such, some of us including me just have DPD tracking numbers stating 'Awaiting receipt of parcel' on a next day delivery service. Stating collection on the 19/9.

I use DPD at work and the 'Awaiting receipt of a parcel' just means a lorry hasn't been there to collect the no doubt massive pallet of iPhones which will then wing their way to distribution centers.
