Just had an online chat with Apple support and they said that there is no confirmed time for pre-orders to start tomorrow, they said "check with the online store early and often".

The guy also said that pre-orders were for delivery only as with the 4s and not for in-store collection like the 4.

I've just chopped down a spare giffgaff micro-SIM I had in the house, and even though it means cutting through some of the metal at the left and right edges the SIM still worked in an old Nokia N80!

Used this - http://www.airportal.de/How_to_cut_Mini_and_Micro_SIM_to_Nano_SIM.pdf - and a pair of scissors as I wan't bothered about damaging it. Will take a bit more care with my live SIM :D

Where did you get the Nano tray (i.e. to convert the cut sim into a Micro Sim or normal Sim size)?

Isn't the nano SIM thinner too - I think something like 15% which probably isn't much in millimetre terms?

I can't remember if I've posted in this thread or not, but I got my Nano SIM from my local 3 store earlier today.

It came with an adaptor and the chap did the swap and said the Nano will be live tomorrow.

When it's live I'll put it in the Micro SIM adaptor and put it straight in my 4S, which means I can then put it straight in my i5 when it arrives.

o2 will be releasing the nano sims on the 21st by the look of it!

Just been and collected a nano SIM from Three. As others have stated, it comes with adaptors to both a micro SIM and a standard SIM and will become active within 24 hours. They said that they received them yesterday and have lots of them.

Any Tesco Mobile people here? As far as I can tell, Tesco have given no information on how to get a nano sim for existing customers. I'll try tweeting them..

Really wish O2 (and others except 3) could get their act together.

3 seem to have this figured out - pick up nano SIM before release day, then do what you want with it till you stick it in your new iphone 5 wherever you get it from.

O2 are doing it all on release day and naturally wouldnt be surprised if the SIM swap website went down due to heavy demand!

Just called Orange to try and order a nano sim, call me sceptical but I remember having the same conversation with them last year when i needed a micro sim. Anyway heres how it went down:

Me: I am going to but the iPhone 5 which uses a new nano sim so Im calling you to order one.

Orange: Oh so you would like more information on the iPhone 5 right?

Me: No, I want to order a nano sim from you

Orange: you can register your iPhone 5 interst on our websi........

At that point I hung up, it was like we were having 2 completely different conversations!

Offshore call centres at their usual best!

How come Orange are massive but are so clueless, yet providers such as 3 and O2 are on the ball.

Part of me just feels like not bothering this year. Between the cheeky price hike for the 16GB and the hoops I have to jump through to use what is essentially pretty much the same phone as my 4S. I must be mad.
